4066  Welcome / Questions, help, suggestions, and bug reports / Re:Fruit and Vegetable fast... on: June 25, 2003, 06:37:49 AM

Boy, that really sounds good, Brother Love.

Well, patricia, I didn't know it was really a fast if I was eating anything.  But raw veggies are certainly good for us!  To make them more palatable, I like just ordinary canned tomato paste(most brands have only tomatoes in it--nothing else, not even salt), carefully stirred by slowly adding water, 'till I've diluted it into a tomato sauce, or even just tomoto juice.  It's low calorie, and tastes pretty good.

When I fast, I still drink liquids--tea, unsweetened, or some fruit juice, unsweetened.

I fast the evening meal most every day(thank you Jesus).

Hi Symphony, sounds good I will try the tomato paste.
I only drink water when fasting.

Rom 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

These scriptures, and countless others, make it clear that salvation is not based on what we do for God. In fact, it is just the opposite. Our salvation is based on what God did for us (Rom 5:8; 1 Cor 15:3,4; 2 Cor 5:21).

Fair and unbalanced?

Dan Rather, Jesse Jackson, Cokie Roberts from
National Public Radio, and an Israeli soldier were
hiking through the African jungle one day when they were
captured by cannibals. They were tied up, led to the
village and brought before the chief.

The chief said, "I am familiar with your western
custom of granting the condemned a last wish. Before
we kill and eat you, do you have any last requests?"

Dan Rather said, "Well, I'm a Texan; so I'd like
one last bowlful of hot, spicy chili." The chief
nodded to an underling, who left and returned with
the chili. Rather ate it all and said, "Now I can
die content."

Jesse Jackson said, "You know, the thing in this
life I am proudest of is my work on behalf of the
poor and oppressed. So before I go, I want to sing
"We Shall Overcome" one last time."

The chief said, "Go right ahead, we're listening."

Jackson sang the song, and then said, "Now I can
die in peace."

Cokie Roberts said, "I'm a reporter to the end. I
want to take out my tape recorder and describe the
scene here and what's about to happen.  Maybe
someday someone will hear it and know that I was on
the job til the end."

The chief directed an aide to hand over the tape
recorder, and Roberts dictated some comments. She
then said, "Now I can die happy."

The chief turned and said, "And now, Mr. Israeli
soldier, what is your final wish?"

"Kick me in the butt." said the Israeli.

"What?" said the chief. "Will you mock us in your
last hour?"

"No, I'm not kidding. I want you to kick me in the
butt." insisted the Israeli.

So the chief untied the soldier, shoved him into
the open, and kicked him in the butt. The Israeli
went sprawling, but rolled to his knees, pulled a
9mm pistol from his waistband, and shot the chief
dead. In the resulting confusion, he leapt to his
knapsack, pulled out his Uzi, and sprayed the
cannibals with gunfire. In a flash, the cannibals
were dead or fleeing for their lives.

As the Israeli was untying the others, they asked
him, "Why didn't you just shoot them? Why did you
ask them to kick you in the butt?"

"What!?" said the Israeli, "And have you 'fair and balanced'
reporters call ME the aggressor again?!?"

hello? I'm new on the site and happy to find a place were I can chat and ask questions.....

well I'm fasting about a couple of thngs in my life right now and I'm doing a fruit and vegetable fast. Now with the veges, the are hard to eat without the dressing on it...is that okay, or is it putting luxury to the fast. How should a fast of this sort be? how exactly? Also what should one drink? I like to have a cup of coffe in the morning, is that still okay...or is it only fruit juices.
I am not accustomed to any other kind of fasts except dry fasting, but it tends to take a toll on my body which in the end does more hard than good.
HELP....this fast has to be done right...

thanks,
Patricia.

I add Lite dressing. I lost six pounds last week. I fast every fourth week for five days, and I fast one day per week for three weeks.

4073  Entertainment / Laughter (Good Medicine) / Pillsbury Doughboy Dead at 71 on: June 24, 2003, 06:45:40 AM
It is with heavy heart that I must pass on the following news. Please join me in remembering a great Icon of the Entertainment community.

The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.  Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs.Butterworth,  Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, The Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours.  Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded.
Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie,  wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, he still, as a crusty old man, and was considered  to be a roll model for millions. Doughboy is survived by his wife, Play Dough, Two children, John Dough and Jane Dough,  plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart. The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

An elderly woman died last month. Having never married, she requested no male pallbearers. In her handwritten instructions for her memorial service, she wrote, "They wouldn't take me out while I was alive, I don't want them to take me out when I'm dead.

The signs at this point seem to be nearing, but I wouldn't know.

Haven't people been saying that for about two millenia, though? Huh

Yes, and Armageddon could start 7 years from today.

RU Ready?

There is a fifth dimension,
Beyond that which is known to man.

It is the middle ground between light and shadow,
Between science and superstition.

And it lies between the pit of man's fears,
And the summit of his knowledge.

This is the dimension of imagination.
It is an area which we call......

The ChristianUnite Zo--(oops, hehe)--

You unlock this door with the key of imagination.

Beyond it is another dimension.

A dimension of sight.

A dimension of sound.

A dimension of mind.

You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance.

Of things and ideas.

You've just crossed over into....The ChristiansUnite Zo---oops, hehe, did it again---The Twilight Zone!

(LOVE that eyeball)

LOL, thanks
