1  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:TheLand&DNA on: August 31, 2003, 04:43:53 PM
I'm not saying it's not true just I wanted to see some information on the subject which you have now thoughtfully provided. I'll read that later, thankyou.

Now, about this whole moon-cheese thing Smiley
2  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:TheLand&DNA on: August 31, 2003, 12:41:55 PM
I read somewhere that the moon was made of green cheese.

It ain't neccessarily so.

Semitic: 1) Of, or relating to the Semites, esp. the Jews. 2) Of or relating to the languages of the family including Hebrew and Arabic.

Who are these 'many' that are doing the arguing, what evidence if any do they have for this argument and what is the motivation behind it?
4  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Secrets from the Spirit World on: August 24, 2003, 06:54:05 PM
Seems to me you are using one religion to judge another, a process which works both ways of course.

You're not going to brow-beat anyone away from 'spiritualism', 'paganism' or anything else with quotes from the bible. If they don't believe in it you may as well be reading from a Tom Clancy novel. It will have about as much effect.

There is a prevailing attitude on these boards that simply quoting scripture is some sort of substitute for reasoned debate. If I want to know what the bible says I'll have a look, I want to know what YOU think.
5  Fellowship / For Men Only / Re:Handshakes on: August 24, 2003, 04:15:31 PM
In my experience there is a certain 'type' of person who seems to think an excessively firm handshake makes him seen 'thrusting', 'dynamic' and a bit of a 'man amongst men'. Having been blessed with very strong hands (shame it doesn't apply to the rest of me  Wink ) I take great delight in crushing the offending hand and returning it, broken and brusied to it's owner. Smiley You can see the pain in their eyes but they never crack on.

Another nice technique for 'hand-crushers' is to snatch your hand away and shout 'Arrrgh!!!! what do you think you're doing' Smiley

If all else fails, use the two handed shake and steal their watch Wink

Common sense and good manners should tell anyone what a firm and friendly handshake should be.
6  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Blonde Jokes to be Made Illegal in Bosnia on: August 19, 2003, 07:56:48 PM
Blonde jokes are little better than jokes about the Irish being thick, the Jews or Scots being mean, black people being criminals or any other stereotyping.

To pigeon-hole any group on the basis of their gender, ethnicity, creed or colour is the behaviour of the ignorant and the childish.

Yeah, self portrait. I wasn't drunk by the way (even if look it) it was 2am here and I was tired Smiley

A lot of things get taught to children, that doesn't make them true. Columbus was actually looking for a route to china when he set out west but the americas got in his way Grin. Why would he have sailed west to china if it wasn't known that the earth was round?

I was being onerey about the explosions if you believe that you've a right to your opinoin even tho its wrong,  , GOD created the earth, in his way.....,

Your point being?

I thought it awesome  picture of Mars, that is all, and the beauty of what God created

A stunningly beautiful picture. No argument from me there.

how many comsic exposions created all the other planets.... Grin how can anyone look at this and things such crazy stuff.

One per solar-sytem I believe (well, technically speaking three or so before the star stabilises and has produced sufficient heavy elements to form the planets).
9  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Photographs on: August 18, 2003, 09:23:36 PM
Symphony,
THis is so cool. isn't it something, 200 yr ago people were saying the world was flat.

I don't wish to appear pedantic (even though I am Smiley) but the Ancient Egyptions worked out the diameter of the earth about 4000 years ago. I know of no credible evidence to suggest that anyone ever thought the world was flat.

Meanwhile... back on topic (sort of) a picture for you.

Have I missed something here?  Huh
11  Theology / General Theology / Re:Christianity and new age/phycics on: June 23, 2003, 05:14:39 PM
Oh Longdog, did you see the show/movie "the Amazing Randi"?

My dad taped that on a tape, and he said pretty much the same thing as you did.

I don't know if it was the same one, probably not as I recall the programme being UK based (a lot about Doris Stokes (remember her  Roll Eyes )) It was a few years back but he crops up now and again on british telly, last seen debunking homeopathy.

He's very good isn't he? (not to mention being deadpan funny)  Grin
12  Theology / General Theology / Re:Christianity and new age/phycics on: June 23, 2003, 02:28:29 PM
It is now and always has been showmanship. All of this 'psychic' nonsense is a sham, a con and a deceitful and ultimately exploitative trick played on the vulnerable.

The 'debunker' James Randi does an excellent psychic act, communing with dead relatives and all that jazz. He'll tell you it's a trick and how he does it.

I'm getting a message through from a james or a john, could be justin.... julian?  janet? have you lost someone with the name janet? no? Doris you say? yes, that's it Doris, the veil is lifting now.... etc etc Roll Eyes
13  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:The Codes that reveal the Antichrist - a must read on: June 17, 2003, 07:55:03 PM
Did you know the word 'gullible' isn't in the dictionary?

I've never seen such a load of old twaddle in all my born days.

There's over 171000 words in the OED (and about 50000 obsolete ones) Lets have the 'numbers' for all of those and any viable combination of say three words. That sould run to a few billion or so possibilities.
