121  Welcome / Questions, help, suggestions, and bug reports / Re:Who`s Doing This???? on: February 08, 2005, 08:58:29 AM
This is a public forum.  Anyone can read what is posted up here and cut and paste it into anywhere else.  I don't know if the script is Chinese (Mandarin)Huh

It is a good idea not to use your real name and give out too much personal information:  addresses, phone numbers etc.

In conversation, your words die away.  On the internet, they live forever and ever in cyberspace archives.  That is why it is so so great to quote scripture.  Who knows who the Word of God will reach?

"Homosexual" is a self-defining term refering to sexual identity.  It is commonly used by psychologists and psychiatrists to refer to someone who "self-identifies" themselves as a "homosexual".  It is a feeling about themselves.  They call themselves "homosexuals" due to their participation in "homosexual activities" and their feelings about their attractions.    It is not due to genetics.  The inclination to this type of behaviour can be due to a history of child abuse, poor parental impressing,  and other factors as noted by health professionals.    But sexual activity is still a choice.  We are reminded that one of the fruits of the spirit is self-control.

Babies are born either male or female.   Babies and children do not have sexual relationships.  It is called abuse and it is a crime when it happens.   So no, babies are neither.

Gender identity and sexual identity following a normal course through puberty and adolescence should result in normal heterosexual activity in a marriage relationship.  -That is if a person chooses to get married and chooses not to sin.

That is all I will discuss about this topic.

I remember something about tints being pure colors mixed with white such as red + white = tint of pink    and pure colors mixed with black as shades  such as blue + black = gray/blue.    I am not sure what black + white = gray is called then.  I think it was called a gray scale value?Huh?

My apologies.  I am far from being very articulate and logical in my writing.  I was trying to say ("gender identity" and "sexual indentity" are not concrete at birth.  People are not born homosexual and there is no scientific proof for this theory.")  Just as babies are not physically mature at birth,  Children's brains and bodies are not mature.  One of the ways parents can confuse their child's gender identity is to allow them to dress inappropriately for their gender(unisex clothing) and play inappropriately.

God doesn't make mistakes.  The more I study the scriptures, the more wisdom I find in them.

Yes, there are many articles on the NARTH site.  Articles that might be of particular interest are titled "Adolescent Homosexuality", "Three Myths about Homosexuality" and "Gay-Affirmative Public School Teachers/Curricula May Influence Brain Maturation In Teens".   There might be more articles that need to be carefully read.  I am particularly disturbed by many Christians who believe falsely that "homosexuals are born that way and can't change."

Narth does make it clear that reorientation therapy is available for people who self-label themselves as homosexuals and wish to change.  So there is help available to parents who have a teenager that is suffering depression from thinking they are gay.  The Gay activists don't like this to be known and try to prevent this viewpoint from being presented in schools.  Many individuals have successful been delivered from the sin of homosexuality and this should be made known to all Christian churches.

This is a very difficult topic.  I am hoping to help many by arming them with scientific expert opinions.  Christians should already know that the Bible is clear about homosexuality being a sin.  I am hoping that people will use their discretion with this website link to NARTH.  I have great sadness and empathy to all who suffer from the sin of homosexuality.

I have been doing some net research.  Here is a link to a site that has references to scientific papers about how damaging these types of materials can be to students.

Allowing gay affirming literature injures youths.  It causes stress and adds to problems of depression and suicide in youth.

Gender and sexual indentity is not concrete at birth.  People are not born homosexual and there is no scientific proof for this theory.  Our children are being lied to.  Any type of sexual activity before maturation (adulthood at ages 18-20 years) can lead to serious health and psychological problems.  Youth should be encouraged to keep sexual activity for their marriage spouse only.

Some informative and interesting articles written by health professionals.  These people are doctors of psychology and psychiatrists.

126  Theology / Apologetics / The Origin of Evil? on: February 03, 2005, 12:40:27 PM
What is the origin of evil?   Most cultures around the world have some belief in evil.  The Christian belief is different.

Some Christians blame evil on Satan and evil spirits.  It is interesting to note the conversation that God has with Satan in the book of Job.

Evil also is related to sin and the will that is against God.  This is the evil from within.

Was evil created?
127  Entertainment / Movies / Re:The Grudge on: February 03, 2005, 12:32:41 PM
I saw the original Japanese version.  It is interesting to compare the differences.

Different cultures all have belief in evil.  Sometimes it comes from outside, sometimes from within a person.   Very, very interesting.

Would you want to be married to someone who is cheating on you and then wants to come back?  And repeats this over and over.  In many marriages, this is reason for divorce.

Why date someone for 2 years?  Isn't the purpose of dating to find a spouse?  Some Christian women don't even date.  They have a "courtship" with the man they will marry.

129  Theology / General Theology / Re:Lilith? on: February 02, 2005, 09:22:25 AM
Lilith, the woman, is not in the scriptures (Bible) at all.

This is a myth (folk story, legend) that people were discussing.  The owl is mentioned because the Hebrew Language is different than English.  Some words sound and are spelled alike.  The Hebrew alphabet contains much less letters than English.
130  Fellowship / Just For Women / Re:Modest Clothing on: January 27, 2005, 10:57:32 AM
I think Proud2BeIFB had some other important ideas about modesty.  If she feels she should wear dresses and skirts most of the time, that is good.  You might think about how people in your church would react to a man showing up for worship wearing a dress, and I don't mean a kilt.

Schools have dress codes.  Do you ever stop to wonder why?

The original posting had to do with modest clothing and worship.

Christians weather male or female should cover their bodies and not expose parts that could turn the eye of the opposite sex.

Woman should not wear sleevless tops or dresses. Short sleves are great. Woman should not wear dresses or skirts above the knee. We are to cover our bodies and not show what we have. That is where immorality will come into play, either by the part of the person wering it or the roaming eye.

I attend an IFB church and they believe all woman should wear skirts all the time. I myself do wear skirts all the time but not because my church says so. It is because it is what God wants us to wear. Now I do not condemn the women that do wear pants. On occasion I do thow on a pair of jeans to go out in if it is super cold out.  And I wear pants around the house.

Now, my own opinion. As long as the person is appropriatly covered and not showing a lot of skin then I feel it is ok.

I see why God wants us to cover. We have a few women that come into church with the REALLY high heels, short skirts, and sleevless tops, and you will see most of the men, married or not, glaring at them quite often.
People are human, and feelings will arouse, men and womens thoughts will wander.
There should be a dress code for church. This is my own opinion.
131  Fellowship / Just For Women / Re:Submitting to Husbands on: January 26, 2005, 06:56:25 PM
Equal partnership requires much negotiating.  I got tired of trying to negotiate everything.  I tried submission and obedience.  It worked for me.  Mostly because my husband loves me so much.  We shouldn't negotiate with God.  God wants our obedience.

Children will follow the example their parents show.  If you want your children to be obedient to God and to you and your husband, don't be the perfect example of negotiation on everything.  Where do the kids learn it?  Mommy is the boss, Daddy is the boss of Mommy, God is the Boss of Daddy.  So no more "ask Daddy if Mommy says no"; "ask Mommy if Daddy says no".  I have witnessed 7 yr olds trying to negotiate themselves out of their homework with Mommy.  "Let's make a deal."  No,  I don't want this in my home.
132  Fellowship / Just For Women / Re:Modest Clothing on: January 26, 2005, 06:36:13 PM
Deuteronomy 22:5  "A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this."

Of course, in cultures wear men wear robes or "skirts" there must be something that makes their clothing different from the women's clothing.  In Biblical times, women and men wore distinctly different clothing.

Personally, I wear dresses and skirts with long hair in feminine styles and colours because I absolutely wouldn't want anyone to think that I wasn't the woman God created me to be.  I suppose some would argue that woman's pants are different than men's pants.  Kilts are differently a men's garment, ask any Scot.
133  Theology / Bible Study / Re:Genesis 6 on: January 26, 2005, 08:52:15 AM
Thank you for your replies.   I must comment, however, I didn't think people would start talking about demons.  I was mostly interested in any Hebrew translations.

If this is a Bible study, please, shouldn't we stick to the Bible and not "other", non canonical books?  If you must feel you need to mention them, please make it absolutely clear that where they are from if not from the Bible.  I wouldn't want anyone to be confused.
134  Theology / Bible Study / Romans on: January 26, 2005, 08:45:25 AM
Romans is a letter Paul wrote to the church in Rome.  I am particularly interested in Romans 16:1 and the Greek translation of the word  "diakonia" which in my Bible is translated as servant with a note to it as deaconess.   My concordance lists diakonia as 'from attendance as in servant, aid, service, ministering, office, relief.'

135  Welcome / Questions, help, suggestions, and bug reports / How to contact Moderators on: January 25, 2005, 04:18:29 PM
How does one contact a moderator of this group?  There might be some suggestions that one might like to make that don't need to be public.  One also might like to ask for any really really offensive postings to be removed.  Or maybe we posted something not so nice in anger that we regret and we want it removed.  Perhaps someone is sending very annoying e-mails to members.

I like the forum rules but sometimes we forget them.  Possibly we need to read them over several times and really try to understand them.

How do we contact a moderator?  I am just asking because I have left other forums because some people are just so rude or weird.  I would just like this forum to an enjoyable and educating experience for everyone:  Christians and seekers.
