60556  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Revelations on: October 31, 2004, 12:41:32 PM
I have seen so many different attempts to interpret the book of Revelations. Some point at one specific denomination or another. Some point at one specific nation or another. Each time a major war occurs their are some people that come out saying this is it, this is the start of Armeggedon.

Everyone seems to have their own ideas based on their understanding of the world around us as we understand it today. These ideas keep changing as the world changes.

I want to make a major point here:

Eph 6:12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Eph 6:13  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Next I want to point out that there are only two churches. I am not talking denominations here but churches. There is the church that is comprised of those that are with God. The other church is comprised with those that are with Satan.
Some say I don't believe in Satan or I don't follow Satan. I go with the Bible on this:

Mat 12:30  He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

Matthew 24 tells us quite plainly what to look for and what to avoid.

Mar 13:32  But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
Mar 13:33  Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

Smiley You people KNOW I'm telling the truth, so why are you in denial?

Your truth is a bit misguided. The terrorist are against America, Israel, Christians and Jews because we have stopped them time and again from having free reign to do what they want to do and that is to take over the world, force their beliefs on everyone and torment or kill those that won't convert to their ways.

60558  Theology / General Theology / Re:How to Handle Contraditions in Scripture on: October 31, 2004, 11:24:56 AM
Job 28:20  Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?

Job 28:28  And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

Job 34:37  For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.

Job 38:36  Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?

Eph 1:17  That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
Eph 1:18  The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
Eph 1:19  And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
Eph 1:20  Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Eph 1:21  Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
Eph 1:22  And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
Eph 1:23  Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

1Ti 1:4  Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
1Ti 1:5  Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
1Ti 1:6  From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;
1Ti 1:7  Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
1Ti 1:8  But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
1Ti 1:9  Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
1Ti 1:10  For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
1Ti 1:11  According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
1Ti 1:12  And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
1Ti 1:13  Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
1Ti 1:14  And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
1Ti 1:15  This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Joh 1:17  For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Rom 5:20  Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
Rom 5:21  That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Rom 6:14  For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Gal 2:21  I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Gal 5:4  Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
Gal 5:5  For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

2Ti 2:7  Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

Praise The Lord For His Infinite Grace!

I have been a longhair for 40 years Grin

<Smiley))><

Amen, Brother. I have been a short hair for 54 years.

Most people that approach this subject over look the verse:

1Co 11:16  But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

Verse16, The key word, custom.. Have our customs changed since the early church?
Most people overlook Commentaries. Smiley

Blessings,

Actually it doesn't matter if the customs have changed or not. The verse says "we have NO such custom, neither the churches of God."

1Cor.11:1-16? The long and short of it is you must look for the who what when where and why to have any true understanding of what you are reading.  This passage is not about HAIR.

You are correct. The mention of hair in the verses is not the the intent of the overall idea behind what he talking about here.

To fully understand what this is all about you must go back and read the previous chapters. This was about certain women in that group that had acted like the pagan priestesses and prophetesses, acting like men, and started praying and prophesying like a man. It is about the difference in the place of men and women in the church.

60562  Fellowship / You name it!! / Re:Butter vs Margarine on: October 29, 2004, 10:45:07 PM
Brother Love,

It seems that some rumors spread like wildfire, and this is one that caught a lot of peoples' interest. Be very careful what you pick up where, and check the source before repeating the tale. Rumors begin to take on a life of their own.

If you go to http://www.margarine.org.uk/pg_app3.htm you can find the following explaination of a misunderstanding of terms:

Margarine is "plastic" at normal room temperature. The term "plastic" describes margarine’s ability to change shape when pressure is applied. For example, if you are spreading margarine straight from the refrigerator, you are applying pressure with a knife. The margarine can then be distributed over the slice of bread.

The plastic properties of a margarine or spread are determined by its formulation, manufacture and the temperature of the product when you are using it. The fat in margarine is mainly liquid oil but the oil is held in place by a network of small needle shaped fat crystals.

The rest of what you said about butter versus margarine is quite true.

Butter does burn easier so be careful when using it for cooking.

Ok. Those were my reasons for not voting for Kerry. You want my reason for voting for Bush here they are.

1.) Bush supports the passage of a Federal Marriage
     Protection Amendment.

2.) Permanent Extension of the $1000.00 Per Child Tax Credit

3.) Educational Choice for Parents (Vouchers)

4.) Federal Funding for Faith-based Charitable Organizations

5.) Permanent Elimination of the Marriage Penalty Tax

6.) Permanent Elimination of the Death Tax

7.) Banning Partial Birth Abortions

8.) Prescription Drug Benefits for Medicare Recipients

9.) Allowing Younger Workers to Invest a Portion of their
Social Security Tax in a Private Account

10.) Benefits for Veterans, especially those sick or injured in
      time of war

11.) Supports the Military in Supplies, Benefits and Pay Raises

Opposes:

1.) Unrestricted Abortion on Demand

2.) Public Financing of Abortions

3.) Federal Firearms Registration & Licensing of Gun Owners

4.) Adoption of Children by Homosexuals

5.) Placing US Troops Under UN Control

6.) Affirmative Action Programs that Provide Perferential
     Treatment

7.) Opposes Government Benefits for Illegal Aliens

In addition to all these he has a proven track record in his votes for the things that he states that he is for (doesn't flip flop).

There are more that I can't remember at this moment but these will do for now.

A man that accuses another of the wrong doing that he has done.

An excellant article, brother, thank you.

One more reason to:

VOTE FOR BUSH!

60567  Entertainment / Politics and Political Issues / Re:what's wrong with voting Kerry? on: October 29, 2004, 02:07:48 PM
I hadn't checked this thread for awhile but thought I would say why I am now a Kerry supporter.

I really thought Edwards was the proper choice so I would have said that he was the best man, but that choice is no longer available.

Kerry is slow to anger.  This is a complicated War we are in, simple direct actions are likely to be simply wrong.  We must consider the effects our actions will have years from now, not just shoot from the hip.  Kerry is clearly more suited to think situations over before taking action.

Is that the reason he is making accusations against Bush before he has all the facts (the missing weapons). Is that the reason that he keeps changing his mind on how he votes on different bills.

Quote
Kerry's tax policy is better for the middle class.  The moral strength of our country comes from the middle class.  The Middle Class is in great danger of shrinking.   A US without a large Middle Class is just another third-world country.

Rolling back tax cuts that Bush put in helps the middle class, right.

Quote
Kerry is willing to cooperate with other countries.  The US must turn from the idea that we are the only superpower and it's our way or the highway.  We aren't going to win anything if it's the US against the World.  Kerry is quite well suited to meet with and negotiate favorable positions for the US even with countries that aren't always our best friends.

Cooperating with the enemy so they get their way and are able to overcome us.

Quote
Kerry's health care plan is the better of the two.  That isn't saying a lot, but it is better.  It would help where people are loosing their whole life's work to catastrophic health care costs.  It would also help remove some of the fear employers have of hiring someone who might or does have health issues.

I am handicapped and I don't see Kerry's health "plan" helping anyone. In fact it will cause more health problems by allowing prescription drugs that are not safe for consumption to be used. His "plan" also calls for our children to get certain types of care without their parents consent or notification.

Like most situations there are a lot of "experts" that speak up and will complain and judge others saying how poor a job they did.

This was a war and in a war there is a lot of confusion and things sometimes do get overlooked. One of the objectives was to find and destroy all munitions/explosives that could be used against us (the main objective was to get their army under control with as few of ours being killed as possible). There were many munitions/explosives that did get destroyed. For various reasons not all of these got recorded.

There were satellite pictures taken at the onset of the war that showed munitions trucks moving loads out of the country that could not be stopped and checked or destroyed.

Was this a poor operation by our troops? NO! This operation went fairly smooth and our troops did their job in an excellant and professional manner from planning to execution.

60570  Entertainment / Politics and Political Issues / Re:Kerry Endorsers on: October 29, 2004, 11:16:32 AM
You forgot a few......

Yassir Arafat supports Kerry

Kim Jong Il supports Kerry

Fidel Castro supports Kerry

former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad supports
Kerry (Mahathir is an anit-semitic. This year, he urged U.S.
Muslims to vote for Kerry "in the name of Islam".)

And there are others. I find it interesting that all of these are either socialists/communists or terrorists and all are or have been enemies of the U.S. that have a desire to see us go their way.
