17  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:Devil Worship OK Aboard Navy Ships on: October 30, 2004, 07:24:29 AM
FYI: satanic worship is also a recognized religion inside our nation's prisons...pretty much the same regulations as were put forth to the navy guy. Can I say, someone needs to feed him to the sharks?Huh
18  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:NOW WE CAN'T EVEN PRAY????? on: October 30, 2004, 07:22:02 AM
Who do those yahoos at the IRS think fill up the seats in those churches?Huh Taxpayers, that's who...wonder what they'd do if we announced that we were going to start praying for God to deal with the IRS???
19  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:Interview with Bush on: October 30, 2004, 07:12:27 AM
I am 45, worked on the Carter campaign as I was only 17 and couldn't vote for him, and I have never missed exercising my priviledge to vote. I have never voted for a Republican for any office. Of course, I've never thought that our nation was standing at a threshold  before either. I know that our President is subjected to many powers, and in as much as George Bush has been able to profess the name of Jesus, and to proclaim himself as a man of faith, that he has duly exercised that freedom. I have been deeply prayerful about this election, and folks...I must vote for Mr. Bush.
It is my opinion, one that springs from very deep inside, that he is the appointed man for this time in history, and we may well hear with our ears, before this term comes to a close, our President lead this nation in prayer.
In as much as the very word of God commands us to pray for our leaders, I say, Pray for George Bush, and in the event that he is defeated, then pray for Mr. Kerry.
It is our responsibility to keep our leaders, and our nation covered by the blood...applied through prayer.
May America return to its foundation of being a nation whose heart is turned to God.
20  Fellowship / You name it!! / Re:Crunchy is Best. on: October 29, 2004, 03:49:53 AM
Ok, so now the real question:
Is crunchy actually the preferred mode, or are there just more members on this forum that like it better thatn creamy???
This is why statistics don't mean much in the real world!!!!
21  Fellowship / You name it!! / Re:why do you think the self sacrifice of jesus is important today on: October 29, 2004, 03:47:10 AM
I believe that the pattern of self sacrifice ,demonstrated and recorded for our benefit, are ageless as God knew the hearts of men, and that by nature we are self-serving. The examples of sacrifice as exactly that: examples to live by. While few of us will ever be required to fast for forty days...I scare says hardly any of us will by choice...even if compelled by the Holy Spirit. Why, because we don't want to deny ourselves pleasure. None of us will ever be required to become sin, nor bear a cross up the hill to our deaths; most of us won't even carry a meal to the shut-in down the street. We feel "entitled" to the unlimited hours that we spend watching TV, going shopping, to sport events, etc; afterall, we work hard and we "earn" our pleasure time.
Very few, however not all, face no threat of death for sharing the gospel of Christ with others, but because we allow fear of rejection to overtake our hearts, we disobey the word, and the spirit and do not speak of Christ outside our save "Christian" circle.
Oh, how sad...what if Christ, when found by the roman soldiers there in the garden, had said, Jesus of Nazareth? No, he isn't here. He just left....or words to that effect.
See, we often overlook the fact that Christ, as us, had freewill, but CHOSE the will of God first.
Self-sacrifice: the art of placing everyone else's needs, wants, concerns before those of our own. Good Mom's and Dad's know about this principle. I'm working on the part of not feeling bitter that it is never my turn...it's a middle-age thing, but I know God will supply me the grace to get through this phase in life.
May the Lord bless us with an undying desire to SERVE!!!!!
22  Fellowship / Just For Women / Re:Mid-life Cries on: October 17, 2004, 05:57:58 AM
First time here, and I'm enjoying reading through what must be old news for most of you. I just had to reply to this post. I am 45;soon to be 46. If I want to know what color my hair was (before39), I either have to stop shaving my pits, or go dig out pictures. This year I decided that I wanted, and felt after putting 2 kids through college, and enduring my 14 year old "baby" while dealing with the big"M", to have a proper MID-Life Crisis. We couldn't afford it!!! Hubby caught me trying to sale off all his tools on ebay (joke). Family made me get a cell phone; all the travel brochures coming in the mail gave me away....I may have impared memory now days, but hey the sense of humor is in tact (Thank you Lord)
To ease your pain over your "wild hairs", I'm going to share a moment from my life.
I was standing in line to check out at Kroger. There was a young, trim, stylish (OHHH  BOOOOHOOOO) lady in line behind me with her 4 year old angelic daughter. The little girl says to her Mommy, "Mommy, look at that lady's hair. It's so funny".
Of course, the poor young mother turned bright red! I had to laugh, as the child was stating the obvious; I do have funny hair. 1)My hair is silver, 2) it is cut 1 1/2" short and 3) i spike it with freeze. (got this do when I served as a correctinal officer to keep from losing our home as my hubby has MS and became disabled).
I consoled that poor mother and told the child, "Honey, I am the porcupine Nana". Asked her if she wanted to touch my hair...she declined the offer, but she did want to help me unload my gorceries....being a Nana, I let her.
By the time we were done, she wanted to come home with me, and her mom was laughing along with us.
the way I figure it, the hairdo is fair warning that there's a granny with attitude comin' your way!!!
P.S. God delivered me from that awful job, and if my hubby prays long enough, he may yet see me with hair longer than his again!!!!
Be blessed....not stressed!!!
