76  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re:I'm Lonely, Scared and Abandoned on: December 31, 2005, 09:08:10 AM
Hi Joey, glad to see you and thanks for your prayers.  I too, believe in it.  I hope you're welll  How's your puppy?  Please post more often so we can get to know you better.

Blessings -

Thanks TalkerCat. As i become braver, i'll try and post more often. I'm not very good with words... As for my puppy, he's growing real fast. I actually posted a new photo of him on the pets section the other day, if you haven't seen it yet.

I thought i would post a couple of photos of my puppy Toby, which i took on Christmas day, as the day was drawing to a close. I think he felt like most of us did. Pretty tired

Sister Terri

I'll also be praying for you and Praise God, it already seems that God is working in your situation. I sometimes underestimate the power of prayer and so its great to read something like this and be reminded how powerful prayer is and how it can be answered so quickly.

I visit a number of forums, yet this one seems diffrent. The love that is here can be seen in the posts and in the friendships and i am so happy the Lord led me here. I may not post much but i read a lot. Blessings to all my family here at CU.

sounds like WOF Preacher.   Sad

Yup, i can think of two WOF preachers who have actually said that.

Brother

Have you downloaded this updated browser yet and if so, how's it working? I have read a number of reports on computer forums stating that lots of problems are being found with this latest release and many people are uninstalling this version and going back to the previous one. I know that a number of extensions are rendered useless. I may wait a few days and see how things have settled but was just curious if you have found any problems.

Joey.

Number of kids: 2 (1 daughter and 1 Son)

Favorite colors:  All shades of Blue

Favorite foods/snacks:  Sirloin steak, Southern fried Chicken, Jacket spuds and unforunately, most sweet things

Favorite Verses: Too many to list. Love them all

Man from Bible you most relate to/why:  Peter. Peter failed Jesus and i am like that so often and yet Peter never gave up, and look at Peters life in the end. Thats what i strive for.

Praise God for... Jesus, My family and all my blessings

Hope you all don't mind, but i thought i would post 3 photos of my puppy, that i took yesterday morning in my back garden. Please excuse the quality of the photos though. I took them using the camera on my cell phone, so they are not as clear as a normal camera, although for a cell phone camera, they are not bad.

My puppy's name is Toby. Toby is a black Labrador retreiver, coming from a working line, with many field trial champions throughout his generational family. I bought Toby when he was 10 weeks old. He is now 23 weeks old and is growing so fast. He has been a real blessing to my family and I and is such a joy. Hope you like the photos.

83  Theology / Debate / Re:WHAT ABOUT PASTORS WHO LET THIER CHILDREN... on: November 16, 2005, 02:31:24 AM
Hi GKB,

I'm not sure if I have welcomed you to the forum yet so I extend a warm welcome to Christians Unite.

I don't know the situation with your Pastors children that you are speaking of and don't care to know, but Pastors children should be afforded the same as anyone else in the church and not be given a position just because they are his children. If they are not properly abiding by the standards set forth in the Bible and in the church then they should not be allowed to hold a position any more than anyone else would be.

Pastor Roger, just to change track slighty here although it does tie in with the original post. As you know, i live in the UK so i listen to a lot of Christian radio via the internet. I was listerning to a station in Maine USA on Monday morning and the program was called walking through the bible, or something very similar to that. The teacher who was leading the lesson touched on this point and said that if churches today followed the biblical prinicapals for qualification, as set out in the new testament, for anyone in leadership within the church, meaning Pastors, deacons, elders etc, then the chuch in America (he mentioned America as this is where the program aired from, but is applicable worldwide) would see massive changes and would be so much more in tune with the Lord and for the will of his church.
I wished i had taken notes now as i could have mentioned a lot more of his points from the lesson.
84  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:A theme park for the Holy Land? on: November 16, 2005, 02:22:42 AM
When i first read the title of this thread, i had visions of roller coasters and all sorts of other fast rides, candy floss and toffee apples, so i was relieved after reading, that these things weren't mentioned  Wink

However, i still have my doubts about this. Firstly, it sounds like a comercial venture, where companies are going to make mega money out of it. Secondly, what damage may be done to the land. So often, new discoveries are being unearthed that gives us more and more evedience of the bible being true and solid and proving, if we need more proof, that the word of God is solid. And thirdly, and sorry if i upset anyone here, but anything that Pat Robertson is involved in, i personally wouldn't want anything to do with.

Intresting article Pastor Roger. Thanks for posting.

Downloaded the fasterfox extension for firefox today and it certainly seems to speed browsing up. May be useful for those on dial up

88  Entertainment / Computer Hardware and Software / Re:FREEWARE Firewall (Windows) on: September 25, 2005, 04:43:39 AM
Brother Tom. I absolutely agree with everything you say about Steve Gibsons site. I have been using Sheilds up for a number of years and cannot praise it enough. Thankfully, my firewall has always passed every test but i do keep testing it, just in case things change and a vulnerabilty is found on my computer. These hackers/virus writers are clever people (just a shame they cannot channel there energy into something more productive) so we need to always be checking our systems are up to date and protecting us.

Bro Roger. After i posted my reply earlier about the windows firewall, i did google it and found my fears were confirmed and windows firewall only blocks incoming traffic. So in effect, it is only doing half a job. Please brother, check it out and then see if you feel you need to do anything. I would hate to see your computer compromised.
89  Entertainment / Computer Hardware and Software / Re:Firefox Update on: September 25, 2005, 04:34:55 AM
Bro Tom, your most welcomed.

Thinking about it, i don't get update notices for browser upgrades either. I get just theme and extension updates, like you get. Maybe they don't send out browser updates. Not sure.
I keep checking PC forums, firefox forum and the mozilla web site, where i find my updates.... I will keep posting any updates that i find, on here, if thats ok with everyone.
90  Entertainment / Computer Hardware and Software / Firefox Update on: September 25, 2005, 04:10:57 AM
Firefox 1.0.7 is a security and stability release. We strongly recommend that all users upgrade to this latest version.

This version includes several security and stability fixes, including a fix for a reported buffer overflow vulnerability and a fix for a Linux shell command vulnerability.

Specific changes in Firefox 1.0.7

    * Fix for a potential buffer overflow vulnerability when loading a hostname with all soft-hyphens
    * Fix to prevent URLs passed from external programs from being parsed by the shell (Linux only)
    * Fix to prevent a crash when loading a Proxy Auto-Config (PAC) script that uses an "eval" statement
    * Fix to restore InstallTrigger.getVersion() for Extension authors
    * Other stability and security fixes

Been using this version for a number of days now and no problems. Also installed over the top.
