Theology / Apologetics / Re:Taking up our crosses

Very good points, JN. And I think we're at that point now. Pick up our crosses, or die forever. And I think there's a postmodern edge in the thinking of many Christians, that preaches andspreads the notion of painless Christianity. A sleepy Christianity, that has nothing to do with what's in the Bible.
Thank you for your refreshing post.
Love in Christ, Whitehorse

Whenever the fatigue comes, and I'm recently recovering from a bout of my own, I generally find after the fact, that I was zealously using my energy in a way God didn't mean me to. My motives may have been where they should have been, my intentions may have been proper, but that doesn't add up to His will.
And often, it's because He's jealous of my time. It's true-the more time we spend with Him, the more we'll use our energies in the area He chooses. But when we're busier with our personal ministries than we are just spending time with Him, we lose our focus, our perspective, our patience, and our energy. And then we don't trust Him quite as much, because we stepped away from intimate fellowship with Him. When we don't trust ourselves, it's really because we're putting our trust in ourselves and seeing our inadequacy. And why do we do it? Because we trust ourselves more than we trust Him, and we find it doesn't work. So then we refocus on the Lord and renew our strength. (At least, this is how it is with me.)
Blessings, Whitehorse

Can anyone get paid enough to be a pro-wrassler? LOL! I've often wondered how much money would be enough, if I were a man, to make me wear spandex briefs... LOL! JN, Cow tipping!

Well, the problem with these religion fads is that they really do open up the door for spiritual trouble. Even if the satanism of the 80s was a gimmick, I'm certain the devil took advantage of that. Because, even if they leave the practices, they are still accountable for those behaviors on the last day. And who knows how many will suffer harder spiritual battle if they ever do return to Christ. It's one thing to abandon false practices, but it's another to embrace Christ and take up the cross and follow after Him.
Wanderer, were there any reasons why she's doing this? Did she say why she turned away from Christ?
Praying.

Thanks! BEP came up with it for me. He graciously made the signature tags that you'll see here at the forum, so I asked him to be the designer for mine. I was studying the apocolypse at the time, so I asked him to integrate it. I think he makes beautiful designs. I also use a couple of his designs for other things.

Yeah! At least one sloppy burger a week, I say! And of course, the Europeans have something going on with those sour cream dishes! Ever have pea soup with sour cream and Paprika? The peas are whole, not the kind that's mashed. M-HM!

Er, well, I've been doing a very good job of keeping up on the TKD! Only had to walk off the floor once, but the instructor knows about the problem now and if I start getting disoriented or doing a sloppy job on easy moves, he slows us down. As fer the doctor, well, I found out more about my situation through some reading and it seems to be helping. They never know about all this stuff I find out on my own anyway. They only tell you things you don't want to hear. And I am getting much stronger. As long as I stay well-hydrated, cut out the sugar and caffeine, and remember to breathe while executing the techniques, I'm okay. I think i'm getting stronger! *hug*

Hello all. Brand new to the ChristiansUniteForums. I grew up in a religion that a lot of people call a cult. Because of the teachings I grew up with I am currently struggling with the issue that Christ IS God. I totally accept that He is the Son of God and have no problems with his life on earth, death or resurrection. But need scriptural guidance with the Trinity being ONE.
Jeneen, think of it as three keyrings. Hook them together and you have three separate keyrings, which are one piece. For the divinity of Jesus Christ, Look at the book of John. The first chapter identifies Jesus as God, through Whom all things are made: John 1 - Study This Chapter 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended F1 it not. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power F2 to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
