91  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Faith and Works ? on: September 09, 2004, 11:02:49 PM
5:8  Thou shalt not make thee [any] graven image, [or] any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the waters beneath the earth:

I am sure you have no pictures or likeness of anything that is in heaven above or in the earth beneath. That would be a picture of a tree, a child, medow, cloud, flowers, surly you do not read a magizine that has such  law breaking likeness or picture. Or is verse EX 5:8 less of a commandment than 5:12? If you have such likeness how do you justify them?

Silver Surfer will you answer?

Maybe you pick and choose which laws are the real ones, but i did copy the above verse stright from your post. Do you own a camera? If you do what likeness do you allow your self to make? Surly one who keeps the law keeps all the law correct? To do less than keep the whole law would be hypocritical correct? Not answering does not make the question go away.
Nope...don't have a camera.

That's not the commandment of God's, that is going to be the issue, in last events.

The test of loyalty to God is going to be the 7th day Sabbath....or , Sunday.

The primary thrust is simple: If you don't go to church on Saturday, you are going to hell.
The wages of sin is death, (Romans 6:23)

 Are you sinless S.S.?

Bronzesnake
If I sin, will that help you ?

If I don't sin, will that help you ?

The answer is no to both questions, because it is a personal relationship between you and God.

I'm merely letting people understand what the requirements are, for getting into heaven.

"The soul that sins, it shall die", (Ezekiel 18:4). That is a promise that God, can never break.

Silver Surfer,

What are the Commandments of Jesus Christ?

(Matthew 22:35)  Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
Quote
(Matthew 22:36)  Master, which is the great commandment in the law.
(Matthew 22:37)  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
(Matthew 22:38)  This is the first and great commandment.
(Matthew 22:39)  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Quote
(Matthew 22:40)  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Exactly.......the first 4 commandments, tell us how to love God.
The last 6 commandments, tells us how to love our neighbor.
Quote

Interesting thought on Christ's commandments. Christ simplified it all for man. With love for God , one another, and neighbor all the commandments of God as given to Moses are fulfilled in our daily lives. With this love in our hearts we would not go against any one commandment but fulfill them all.
Remember though....don't mix up the Law of Moses with the Law of God....as God [Himself] wrote the 10 commandments on stone tablets....and [added no more] , Duet. 5:22).

And, Moses wrote the other laws in a 'book', laws which God told Moses[himself] to write down to give to the Levite priests.

Joh 3:3  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
"Whosoever is born of God [does not] commits sin", (1 John 3:9).
"Whosever commits sin, transgresses the Law, for sin is the transgression of the Law", (1 John 3:4).
"Here is the patience of the saints, here are they that [keep] the commandments of God, and have the faith of Jesus", (Revelation 14:12).
Quote
So again I ask.  Will you tell God that because you have kept his commandments He should allow you into heaven, even  after Jesus himself says here that man could not do it?
Jesus said: "IF you love me, keep my commandments", (John 14:15).
"Why call me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things I say ", (John 15:14).

Silver Surfer.  When you stand before God, and he asks you "why should I let you into my kingdom?" what will your answer be?

Revelation  22:14   "Blessed [are] they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city".

And this is what Jesus Christ mentioned, when some asks him how they might gain eternal life, (Matthew 19:16,17.....Mark 10:17-19).

Silver Surfer,

You didn't even get close on the Commandments of Jesus Christ. I've already posted them in another thread, one that I think was for you.

If you wish to live under the Law, you MUST live under all of it. However, we are not under the Law, rather the Grace and Love of Almighty God and the PERFECT SACRIFICE of Jesus Christ on the CROSS. There are still many unbelieving Jews trying to live under the Law. They rejected Jesus Christ as VERY GOD, Lord and Saviour, THE CROSS. We don't live under the Law, rather under GRACE.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Only the person who commits sin, is under the Law, (Romans 3:19).

God's Law, the 10 commandments, is called the Law of Liberty, (James 2:10-12)

Hmmmm....interesting. I guess all those old folks that came out of their graves during the earthquake following Jesus' crucifixion were just.......Huh
Yep, I can't explain it either.
I just know that those people mentioned in Revelation 20:4, about the Mark of the Beast, being those in the 1st resurrection (Verse 5).
Any ideas ?
Quote
And then there is the little "problem" of trying to equate resurrection only with the body.
no problem at all.
After Christ's resurrection, did he not have a body...as doubting Thomas found out ?
All the other Bible texts about the resurrection, mention bodies and body parts.

Quote
We are already dead (to sin)
OH NO !
It is because the Christian world doesn't know what the Bible defines as sin, they say that.
BUT....once they understand what the Bible calls sin....they will stop going to church on Sunday !

5:13  Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work:     5:14  But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.

Do you get all your work done in 6 days as commanded?
Do you cause "the stranger" to do any labour?
Do you realize that I belong to the church that  God identifies, as His ?
"Here is the patience of the saints...here are they that keep the commandments of God, and have the faith of Jesus", (Revelation 14:12).

Do you realize that it is Satan, who opposes those people who obey God ?
"And the dragon (Satan) was angry with the woman (Church) and went to make  WAR...with the remnant of her seed, which keeps the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ", (Revelation 12:17).

No church, that holds Sunday worship services, fits this description...because they are breaking the 4th commandment of God.
101  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Fear, motivates the Secret Rapture theory ? on: September 07, 2004, 05:37:37 PM

Clearly speaking of the second advent.  Because the souls/dead/martyrs that did not worship of follow the beast are saved at that the very end.
Your forgetting one very important point.....there is 'ONLY' one resurrection for the righteous....as Revelation 20:4,5 points out, and it happens to be the 1st resurrection (Verse 5).

Quote
WHY ?

Revelation 22:11  He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
22:12  And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward [is] with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

Silver Surfer,

You missed this request:

What are the commandments of Jesus Christ? List them please so we can all understand some of your other posts here.

Tom
5:7   Thou shalt have none other gods before me.
5:8   Thou shalt not make thee [any] graven image, [or] any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the waters beneath the earth:
5:9   Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me,
5:10   And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
5:11   Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold [him] guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
5:12   Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.
5:13   Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work:
5:14   But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.
5:15   And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and [that] the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.
5:16   Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
  5:17   Thou shalt not kill.
5:18   Neither shalt thou commit adultery.
  5:19   Neither shalt thou steal.
5:20   Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbour.
5:21   Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour's wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any [thing] that [is] thy neighbour's.
5:22   These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and .....he added no more.
And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.  (Duet.)

Silver Surfer,

What are the commandments of Jesus Christ? List them please so we can all understand some of your other posts here. I've asked this in two locations since it is critical to attempt to understand your posts.

Tom
20:3   Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
20:4   Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth:
  20:5   Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me;
20:6   And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
20:7   Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
20:8   Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
20:9   Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
20:10   But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates:
20:11   For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
20:12   Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
  20:13   Thou shalt not kill.
20:14   Thou shalt not commit adultery.
  20:15   Thou shalt not steal.
20:16   Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
20:17   Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that [is] thy neighbour's. ", (Exodus, chapter 20)

If the majority of Bible texts (tribulation) refer to what the believers go thru...why would God's word suddenly shift by teaching that, 'the' tribulation is something believers will not go thru ?
Notice what it says in Revelation 20:4,5.....
"..and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus Christ and the word of God ...."are they Christians ?
Quote
You will also notice there is no mention of the living.  The rapture is promise to the living.....not just the dead.   The purpose of Revelation is the revealing of Christ to the world.  Don't be surprised if many will not come to repentance when they realise what is happening.
It will be too late.....when they see Christ coming in the clouds of heaven !!!

Matthew 24:30   And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall [all the tribes of the earth mourn], and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

2 Thess. 2:8   And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

BigD responds:
First of all, I have no fear of the Tribulation because I am a member of the Body of Christ, a child of the day. "For God hath not appointed us to wrath (the Tribulation), but to obtain salvation (via the rapture)  by our Lord Jesus Christ" (1Thes5:9).
The Bible never says that Jesus Christ will come secretly for his people:
Matthew 24:30   And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and [they shall see] the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
24:31   And he shall send his angels with a [great sound of a trumpet], and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

The coming of Jesus Christ will be visible and noisy.

SS, You have demonstrated your inability to understand the context of Matthew 24:37-42. These verses have nothing to do with the Chruch, the Body of Christ, as it was not MADE until AFTER the Apostle Paul was converted.
Quote
The above verses are talking about what will happen when Jesus returns as the Righteous Judge.

Revelation  22:11   He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
(NOTE: that Judgment is over with....then Christ says)
22:12   And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward [is] with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
(Note: man are either destined for heaven, or hell)

Quote
The ones taken out will be taken out to judgment and the ones remaining will inter the earthly kingdom that Jesus will establish.
2 Thessalonians 2:1   Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and [by] our gathering together unto him,
2:2   That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
2:3   Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come], except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.."

Verse 8...... 2 Thess.   2:8   And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming.."

Quote

We don't find any Scripture concerning the rapture of the Church, the Body of Christ, until After Paul is raised up.
John  11:23   Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
11:24   Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.

Quote
Paul tells us in 1Cor15:515-53 about the rapture, as a secret.
You're right !
1 Thess. 4:16   For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
4:17   Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

AND......
Matthew  24:30   And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
24:31   And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

IMHO there are not enough people living within a "sabbath days journey" of the church to possibly fill more then one pew. But, when I drive by on Saturday, the parking lot is quite full. I suspect that the majority of those car owners are violating the Sabbath Day travel  (Man-made)Laws.......... PLEASE TELL ME what does the Bible teach about what their punishment should be.
"Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the Tree of Life, and may enter in through the gates into the City", (Revelation 22:14).

Isaiah 66:22   For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
66:23   And it shall come to pass, [that] from one new moon to another, and [from one sabbath to another], shall [all] flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

Looking forward to your reply.

God Bless.
