16  Theology / General Theology / Hebrews Questions on: June 24, 2004, 06:24:04 PM
Hello everyone.  A friend of mine told me that if someone was to fall away from Christ they could not come back to Christ later.  She used Hebrews Chapter 6:4-6 to prove her point.

4   For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5   And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6   If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

KJV

Is this correct??
Thanks for the help.  I am a fairly new Christian and I'm a little confused about the the verse above.

Thanks so much for all the replies everyone.  You all have been very informative and helpful.  I have tried playing once with him and his friend in Washington when we went to visit his buddy during Christmas and when I played with them I didn't find it any more harmful then watching TV or a movie.  His friend doesn't allow people to play evil characters because he too is a Christian and doesn't feel comfortable with that type of game anymore.  My boyfriend plays D & D about 2 Saturdays a month and I didn't worry about it at first until everyone started coming to me who are fellow Christian friends of ours and asking me why he took part in an evil game so I thought I would get some peoples opinions on the matter.

Thanks so much,

I am new to this forum so first off I'd like to say hello.  I have a question about Dungeons and Dragons.  My boyfriend of 2yrs plays D&D 1-2 times a month but is a Christian?  When I question him about playing he says that he doesn't take it seriously and that it is no different then picking up a book and reading it to escape reality once in a while but I can't help but be concerned.  Is this harmless or harmful spiritually to a Christian?  I grew up believing it was harmful but I wanted to get some different opinions on the matter.  Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Amanda
19  Theology / Debate / International Church of Christ? on: June 17, 2004, 10:25:56 AM
Do you believe they are a cult?  I have a friend who attends the Church of Christ.  I wasn't really familiar with their teachings until I went to church with her.  I was looking around for a church since I'm new to this area so I went with her a few times, but I got a bad feeling as I learned more and more.  I have been a Christian for a long time however they do not view me as a Christian until I go through their "studies" and then get baptized in their church however I have already been baptized.  I don't need to go through a man-made study to become a Christian when I've already got the Word of God.  I'm very worried for my friend.  Can any one give me your opinion on the Church of Christ?

Thanks so much!
