1  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re:suicide on: June 17, 2004, 08:45:43 PM
I know that this post is not recent, but still worthy of the advice. My 1st husband commited suicide..not having been through those thoughts before, I too thought it was a selfish act..for yrs. I did..Then when my mom died, I felt my world fall apart. Those suicide thoughts came very real to me..anything to stop the pain..I am in counseling still..Lots of Christians think that a Christians can't get depressed..To that I reply, I wouldn't wish those feelings on my worse enemy!
But the main thing is to get into counseling right away. Don't be afraid of taking medication..If you were a diabetic, you'd take your medication.
I've forgiven my mother for dying, but I realize now that I still have the issue of the 1st husband dying..sometimes you think you've dealt with it, but something comes up and you realize that you've not.
But all in all it's very important, to get to a dr. right away! Keep us all posted!
I'll be praying!!
2  Theology / Bible Study / Re:Marriage: What does Paul really teach? on: June 16, 2004, 01:25:46 PM
Remarriage..Aren't we grateful that God is the God of second chances? That is amazing grace!!!
I'm not the product of a divorce..just one of a suicide. My second husband was divorced. At the time, of his divorce, he wasn't saved. Not to say the divorce doesn't bring it's consequenes, it does big time.
I was saved through the suicide of my 1st husband.
By no means does the Lord favor divorce. I don't believe in it now, because I'm a new creature in Christ, as is my second husband. "As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us"..[Psalm 103:11]
God uses our life lessons as tools to be able to sympathize with those going through similar struggles. How would you know how a person feels without going through similar circumstances? Would I have choosen to go through what I did? Of course not. But God uses it just the same.
3  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:"NO MORE TITHING" on: June 16, 2004, 12:58:17 PM
I had to come to almost the end of this post before someone actually "hit it on the head" [unendingjoy] about tithing. It's really sad that so many have becomed so attached to "thier"  money that they really think it's thiers! Some heart!
God doesn't need your money at all..It costs the church..all the expenses that you would expect..[Imagine that!] There is no need to list the expenses, you can figure that out.
You give out of your love for Jesus Christ and so that the whole world can hear the Good News..you give of yourselves in addition..and serve Him in all the ways He has equipped you. It's not that hard to figure out, if you truly love the Lord and know Him.
He can see through all excuses. Smiley
4  Entertainment / Television / Re:to TV or not to TV on: June 16, 2004, 11:57:46 AM
We have a tv also, but just have an antenna and that gets 2 local stations..also a portable black and white that my husband watches for sports sometimes. We do watch videos of our choosing.. No kids, empty nesters..but you figure if kids can't watch it. why should you?
We've regressed back to the "old days" [I'm talking Andy Griffith here!] to the radio..Christian programming..Tv for news, when necessary, or on the computer. [kinda like to know if the  terriorists invade our soil again, we didn't have tv during the 911 & for weather updates]  Smiley

Last time I saw Robert Schuller, [yrs.ago] he was teaching on prosperity. I agree, that one should be in thier home Church on Sunday.
I do listen to Christian radio programs during the wk. which features ones like David Jeremiah, Charles Stanley and others. As you stay in His Word, you'll begin to see more and more..always test everything with His Word.. Smiley
