I don't believe smoking, by itself is a sin.  We are told that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and that we are to care for them.  As a christian, you are going to feel the need to quit because of this fact.  This also goes for overeating or overdoing anything.  But, no you are not going to hell if you have accepted Jesus in your heart and would happen to die today and you haven't quit smoking yet!  I'm sure your friends mean well but they are incorrect.

I pray that people come to know Jesus in such a way that it would hurt when their faith is mocked.  As for me, I am done here with this forum as it is becoming very childish.

Thanks for your post Sower.  I have a hard time believing that anyone would disagree with this post.  I mean, it is right out of the Bible!  God breathed.  Inspired by the Holy Spirit!  Some people just seem to pick and choose what they want to believe.  Whatever works for them.    I think Paul's message is pretty clear however.  Like a recent poster said 'It's not rocket science'.

Love always has benefits.  If you were really this distressed over whether or not your love was selfish, you may not know love.  Do you?    Look at the greatest love known.  Jesus died for us and paid an aweful price for us because He loved us.  He gained (as far as I am aware) children that will worship Him forever.
