Hi Sunshine!
I have a friend online who is also from New Zealand. We've been friends for over a year now.
Since I live in Indiana and hate snow, I told her I'm going to start coming to visit her every January.  Wink

I really like Romans and the other books you mentioned too.
Paul was another awesome man of God who we can learn a lot from.

When did Peter and Paul say that we should call a human "Holy Father?"

Grin  This birthday page has been a riot!!  Thanx for the laughs!

Hey, what do ya think about this scripture?

Proverbs 20:29 The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the grey head.

HA!  I will have to seek the Lord for revelation on that one! Smiley

haha!
I think there is a Proverb like that aimed at women too.
At the age of 39, I've found that I no longer need to waste money buying junk to lighten my hair.
God has been doing plenty of lightening
Wink these last few years and hasn't charged me a dime.

Saying that Mary was a virgin all her life is not in the bible, ebia. So if the catholic church only passes on what's in the bible, why do they pass that along? Calling he pope "Holy Father" is not only not in the bible, it directly contradicts Christ's words, ebia. Elevating people to sainthood is not in the bible, ebia.  Attitudes about fasting again contradict Christ's words about fasting, ebia. Adorning the church with bronze statues of men contradicts the bible, ebia. Most of the rules in the catholic church are "teachings based on rules taught by men" (Christ's words). The non scriptural rules, rituals, and beliefs are exactly what we object to about the catholic church. if it did pass on scriptural mesages, I would have no problem with the catholic church.

Excellent post Heidi! AMEN!
294  Theology / Bible Study / What is your favorite book of the Bible and why? on: April 28, 2004, 01:41:29 AM
I decided that I needed to spend some extra time in God's Word today. I've been slipping in my reading.

I think devotionals are great, but I get more when I just read the Bible on my own.

In my daily Bible reading I started with the book of Ruth (because that is where my book marker was). I love that book! I promised myself that if I made it through 1st and 2nd Samuel then I would get to read Ruth again today.
I only made it to 2nd Samuel 12.

I always learn so much about the love and patience the Lord has for us when I read about David and his struggles. Yet, he was considered a man after God's own heart. God remained faithful to him, even when he fell.
I not only stumble, I fall flat on my face!
I'm so thankful God doesn't give up on me.

Oh well, I can always read Ruth again anyway. It will probably remain one of my favorite books of the Bible because it represents such a beautiful and pure love.

What is your favorite book of the Bible and why?

When we examine every writing that a mere man thinks and we live it out in our lives, we call this worship of man.  PERIOD.
Quote
You can call it what you like, but it isn't worship, and your calling it such doesn't make it so.

Is it ever a good idea to just accept the "God given wisdom" of another?
What if what they claim is Scriptural really isn't?

What is it then?
Listening to the God given wisdom of others.
296  Theology / General Theology / Re:Why do we fight amongst ourselves. on: April 27, 2004, 11:41:38 PM
We fight amoungst ourselves because some if us are right and we want to make sure everyone knows it! just kidding!  Tongue

297  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Lose Your Salvation in Two Easy Steps on: April 27, 2004, 11:33:26 PM
I've never been sure of where I stand on the once saved always saved (OSAS) debate.
I do slightly lean against it.
I don't think it would be easy for someone to loose their salvation, nor do I live in fear that I will loose it.
However, something has always troubled me.....
What if a Christian decides they don't want salvation anymore?
Is God going to force them to keep the gift?

Where would I go to find a list of the most frequently asked questions about ChristiansUnite?

I have some questions that I would like to ask, but if they've already been asked somewhere, then I would just be wasting someone else's precious time as they respond to what would seem like an endless list of the same questions over and over.  Wink
