31  Theology / General Theology / Re:What Saith the Scriptures - A Simple Yes or No Will Suffice on: May 02, 2005, 02:46:47 AM
Quote
12. 1 Cor 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
According to the verse:
Are you washed?
Are you sanctified?
Are you justified?

Amen brother. I had fallen to my flesh today. Praise God I can be washed again by the blood of the lamb.

Thank you Lord Jesus, that I am washed, santified and justified in you! Thank you Lord that it is no longer I who live but it is You in me. May you blood cleanse me right now! Amen

Revelation 22:14
Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.

32  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Is the Son.. Jesus the Christ, the father? on: May 02, 2005, 02:24:09 AM
 I am a father - a son - and a grandfather!  Cheesy
I am no less a son than I am a father and no less a father than I am a grandfather.

1x1x1=1 not 1+1+1

Does that simplify it for ya AJ?

Bronzesnake

Hey bro,

Maybe AJ is trying to say that the son Jesus Christ is not God the Father in the sense that ice is not water. We can at the same time say water, ice, and steam are different but all are the same thing. Water, ice and steam IS H2O. The Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit IS God. But water is not the same as ice. So the Son is not the same as the Father.

Or we can consider what you proposed John, a person can be a son, father, and grandfather. Different labels for the same person. That explains the trinity well. Yet again, maybe AJ is saying there are different roles for each label.

I think a better question here is "IN WHAT SENSE, is(or is not) the son, Jesus Christ, the Father? "

Interesting topic brothers, but I would like to know the purpose. What say you AJ?  Wink
33  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re:mom has cancer on: May 02, 2005, 02:00:08 AM
Hey bro,

I take it that your mom belongs to Christ. And God has a mansion for her. Whether she gets to go reign with Christ for a thousand years soon or until a thousand years later it doesnt matter, for to her; to live is Christ and to die is gain.

God is watching over all his children. How are you doing now?
34  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Is the Son.. Jesus the Christ, the father? on: May 02, 2005, 01:47:29 AM
Hey guys.

H2O exists in three forms: water, steam, and ice (liquid, gas, solid). Is water steam? No, but water is H2O and steam is H2O in different forms. Is steam ice? No, but steam is H2O and ice is H2O.

You see, this is the same situation here. The Son Jesus Christ is not the Father in the sense that ice is not water. However water and ice are the same things in different forms. Just as the son Jesus Christ and the Father are God.

AJ, is that what you are trying to say? Brother, you shouldnt be afraid to fully assert what you want to tell us. It becomes very vague and useless if you are holding things back.

35  Theology / Debate / Re:Demon Possession on: April 30, 2005, 04:49:18 AM
Quote
I was just wondering if everyone on these forums think that demons can possess people?

I see your question more clearly. Demons are disembodied spirits. So being that they are spirits they can get into people.

The reason spirits can get into people is cause we were made as vessels. We were made to contain God. It is said that in every man there is a God-shaped void. And God dwells in us as the Spirit.

We were made in the image of God; but when we're born and belong to this world that image is empty. That image has fallen short of the glory of God. For instance, consider a glove. A glove is made in the image of a hand; but without a hand to fill it, it is nothing. So what we need to do now is be filled with God. That first starts in our spirit, for God is spirit.

However, since Man is not always filled with God first, Man is certainly open to other spirits. These can enter into man. But praise God if you already belong to Christ; you are already filled with Christ and nothing else can replace Him.

36  Theology / Debate / Re:Demon Possession on: April 29, 2005, 05:28:38 PM
Godwarrior,

The spiritual realm is real. We know that we are in warfare against forces in the spiritual realm. There are actually many people who are possessed by a spirit and dont know it because they do not believe in that stuff. Regardless if you believe it or not, it is still there. The devil's stronghold in America is that people do not believe in the spiritual realm. They believe all problems could be fixed with medication. This era has fallen into full reliance on worldly knowledge and science; believing only in what our limited eyes can see.

But there is definetely something more going on beyond what we can physically see. Just last night I felt the presence of evil near me. I said, "Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world! Devil, you have no hold on me; depart from me. In the name of Jesus be gone!" While I was in the middle of saying 'In the name of Jesus' I heard growling behind me. At first I thought it was noise from outside but when I finished that sentence it abruptly stopped. I had a lot of comfort that nothing evil could touch me because I am in Christ and Christ is in me. What a barrier of protection!

Praise the Lord that we are in Christ and Christ is in us. People who are possessed by demons are controlled by that demon. However, praise the Lord, we are possessed by God! We are possessed by the Holy Spirit. It is God who controls us! So that's why we are told to walk by our spirit. Because where our spirit is, there God is also.

Phillipians 2:13
For it is God who works IN you to will and to act according to His good purpose.

Being possessed by the Holy Spirit, God is working and operating in you. Taking over your life. That is how you are being transformed into the likeness of Christ. For it is Christ who is living in you. We can do all things in Christ who empowers us! If we turn to our spirit we can more than conquer anything. For...

1 John 4:4
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

In all these things, in absolutely all things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

37  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re:Grades on: April 27, 2005, 01:41:02 PM
Thanks!

I just took an exam. I dont think I did well. I would have needed a perfect score on that test to make an A in that class. But I guessed on 6 out of 20 questions. However, I know that God is faithful and this will work out for His good purpose.
38  Prayer / Prayer Requests / school on: April 27, 2005, 01:38:19 PM
I need some prayers.

I'm registering for classes in the fall. And everything seems to be in disarray. I need some prayers that everything will work out.

Also, my grades dont seem to be doing well. I am not too concerned with them but my parents are. And that is the source of my fear and anxiety.

39  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re:stabbing back pain on: April 27, 2005, 01:33:02 PM
I'll be praying for your business and your back.
40  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re:Prayer on: April 27, 2005, 01:27:15 PM
well brother,

God is faithful to his word.
1 timothy 4:9 Faithful is the word and worthy of all acceptance.

And God tells us that we can do absolutely anything with Christ!
Phillipians 4:13 I am able to do all things in Him who empowers me.

Luke 1:37 For with God, nothing is impossible.

I am having the same problem right now. And I feel very down right now cause I just took a chemistry exam. In my mind I am sure I did not do well at all, but we do not walk by appearance but by faith. All you need to do is do all that you can yourself, and whatever you cant do just leave it to God. God will supply you with grace when you cannot do things.

A lot of things are unfair. But with you work...work with all your soul to the Lord and not to man. If you seek first the kingdom of God your needs will be supplied to you. God knows what we need, and God WILL supply us when we ask of Him.

Colossians 3:23
Whatever you do, work from the soul as to the Lord and not to men,

3:34
Knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as recompense. You serve the Lord Christ.

And for Cody...
colossians 3:25
For he who does unrighteously will receive what he unrighteously did, and there is no respect of persons.

Finally brother, know that all things are already yours. Christ is everything to us. In Him we have all the things we ever need.

1 Corinthians 3:21
Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours

so is that body functioning in one accord? If it is not then surely it needs to be! As our body parts must all work together to walk so must the local churches.

Hmmm.  The body consists of many different parts, all having different functions however.   Yes the toes the fingers the feet the arms the eyes etc.   If each of these are being used for the better good of the body of Christ, then they would be functioning in one accord.   The arm cannot do the job of the feet carrying the body from place to place, just as the foot cannot do the job of the arm which reaches out letting the hand do its job.   Sounds kind of silly I guess, but it does add to the mental image me thinks.   Cheesy

I am reminded of ....

Mar 9:38  And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
Mar 9:39  But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
Mar 9:40  For he that is not against us is on our part.
Mar 9:41  For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

Was this individual operating in one accord with Jesus group?  According to Jesus he was.   Now I realize the body was still being built at this point, but I think it still applies here.   Any denomination not against Christ in on His part.   At least thats how I see it.

Grace and Peace!

hey bro,

That verse doesnt apply to that. Just like they're not going to stop that man from using the name of Jesus...I am not going to stop another denomination from preaching the gospel of Christ. However they may not be walking in one accord.

The definition of accord is to be consistent or in harmony.

In contrast the definition of discord is
a : lack of agreement or harmony (as between persons, things, or ideas) b : active quarreling or conflict resulting from discord among persons or factions

So what am I saying against the protestant and catholic churches? I am not here to point out what is wrong or what is right. These are things of reasonings and doctrines. These have nothing to do with God. Not trying to contend for right and wrong doctrine. Instead, contending for unity. The churches are not walking in one accord. There is division among them.

You may or may not believe this. If we want to get anywhere in both cases -whether you believe or not- you should pray for the desire of God and His will. Forsake what you know in your head, give these things to God and have faith that you will receive what you ask for in prayer. Ask whether these things are true, ask whether they are God's desire, and tell God that HIs will be done.

Felix,

You'd make a great monastic  Wink

I admire your commitment to a constant focusing of our lives on God through fellowship. I just don't know how possible it is for those of us with young families and all the commitments that come with it.

monastic??? Dont know what u mean by that.

Thanks for your admiration but it is not for me; this is what God wants for His children...and this is what Satan doesnt want. That's why we should be strong for this.

I see your problem. I think its ok. You know, the body does not just contribute to spiritual needs but also physical. Brothers and Sisters united as one body dont just have gift and skills in different areas for spiritual needs but physical as well. I am sure if you pray about it and meet with the brothers and sisters...your children will become godly children, you will be able to meet with the body, and you will have extra time to do things for yourself. Possibly more time.

When we're in the body each member provides for the other member's need. There may be a sister or bro who can take care of your kids, or maybe your kids can go with you to wherever you are meeting the body. In any case...your children will be edified and you will be edified. And if you sacrifice time for the Lord, He will bless you with more. What you sow you will reap...and by the grace and love of God may your harvest be abundant.
43  Theology / General Theology / Re:how do we know that the Bible is true on: April 19, 2005, 03:13:10 AM
The bible has been around for a very long time.

Here is an illustration:

When a tree is just sprouting do we really need to label it so we know what it is?

Not really...because as time passes it grows and we see the leaves and the fruit it bears. So by this we know what the tree is. This is how the trees are identified.

Likewise we know the bible for what it is as it has grown and we have seen the fruits of it. The bible has been the same and has never changed...and it is very old and still used. IT has stood the test of time and unlike other things it has never had to be 'relabeled' so that men would know what it is.

You asked what are we basing the truth of the bible on? Do you believe in your history books? You believe in them. And what about those books that tell you how to do things? Those do-it-yourself-books? You believe in them when you do what it says and it becomes true.

So what are we basing the truth of the bible on? I tell you the truth! We EXPERIENCE IT! We use these words and they become our life. These are words of reality; these are words of spirit and life. And without the Holy Spirit you cannot experience them. If you want to find the truth and the meaning of the words just spoken to you, you will have to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior...

It is an open invitation and the free gift of God. You may not know it now nor understand it later if you do accept Christ...but God will come and dwell in you. And He will guide you into all truths. It will be a start of a new thing; you will be a new creature. And the first thing you need is faith.

How to receive Jesus Christ...

and pray...

Dear Lord, I know I’m a sinner.  I know that I don’t deserve what you did for me on the cross.  I ask you to forgive for my sins.  I ask that you would come into my life right now dear Lord.  Change me Lord.  Make me what you want me to be.  Fill that void in my life that is missing, and make me whole.  I commit my life to you dear God.  I accept Jesus Christ into my life this very moment, and believe that He died for my sins.  Thank you dear Lord for hearing my prayer, and coming into my heart.  Amen!

Thanks Bairn.

May God continue to fill you with life and may you constantly be strengthened into your inner man by the power of the Holy Spirit!

2nd Timothy

The word Church you are using means the 'Sunday Church Service'. I am saying that we not only have a large meetings on Sundays...but we have many more meetings throughout the entire week. Just where 2 or 3 meet.

For instance this is how it is done where I live. On mondays I meet with 2 brothers and we do some type of life study. We pray and call on the name of our Lord Jesus. We discuss some problems, revelations, and the life study.

On tuesdays another brother comes over and we have breakfast and we do the same things yet we study something different. Later that night I go to a home meeting.

On wednesday I meet with a larger group of bros and sisters and we go over one chapter in a book. This is our bible study of the week.

On thursday I meet with two groups of brothers in the morning. Later that night if I have time I go to another home meeting.

On friday I meet with some brothers in the morning and I go to a home meeting later that night. All these home meetings are different homes...and there are multiple home meetings each weekday since one home cannot hold all the bros and sisters.

On saturday there is a big meeting in a public building. A brother shares a message or sermon. Then there are testimonies afterwards from many brothers and sisters...and whatever much time we have left. Then we meet again at different homes for dessert and games.

On sunday we would have the "Church Sunday service" But that is basically the same as on saturday where all the brothers and sisters meet. Later that day we have the lord's table where we break the bread.

The number of people in meetings will range from 2 to well over a two hundred on saturday and sunday...maybe more (there are bros or sisters I have never met still!) Bible studies are maybe 10 pple. Home meetings can have 10 to 20 people.

You see even on the weekdays, we are having "Church". Just 2 or 3 brothers meet and we call on the name of the Lord. And Jesus is there in our midst.

As you can see this is not hard to coordinate even with a very large church. And if your church is not large it should be even easier.
45  Theology / Debate / Re:The Dangers of Truth Twisting on: April 18, 2005, 02:07:15 AM
Well brother John...

I am certainly confused now. I did not read everything he wrote. I did not really examine what he was saying about "Jesus". I am very sure that it does not matter who we call the Messiah...We were saved by the name of Jesus Christ! I find that to be a big problem with Zad.

However, I agree on the first two posts he put up here...before it got into a discussion about Yeshua vs. Jesus.

Pastor Roger, your research brings to light new things. I find that to be a startling problem, and I was very taken back when i read it. Never heard of that sect, but the denial of the trinity is not Christian. I would hope that Zad wasnt a part of this because I had agreed heartedly with what he wrote earlier. However, when I did read his words I lost mine...maybe it was bad  Huh . Soon time will tell.

I still think we should examine what he said in the first 2 posts. I can testify to some of these.
