16  Theology / General Theology / Re:Fruits of the Holy Spirit on: May 09, 2005, 06:30:41 PM
Felix says:
Quote
Who is Lord? Jesus is Lord!!
A real cheerleader for Christ!

Felix - I love your enthusiasm!
JN

lol, not that being a cheerleader is bad...but back in my highschool they were made fun of.  Undecided

I shouldnt say it's my enthusiasm, but rather it be the Spirit's. Christ has preeminence. Christ is the center. Christ is the Lord! No one speaking by the Spirit of God can say, "Jesus be cursed" and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord" except by the Holy Spirit.

Will you acknowledge Christ before men also? If not then Christ will not acknowledge you before the father.

Can you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe it in your heart?

17  Theology / Bible Study / Jesus the Rock on: May 09, 2005, 06:17:56 AM
Psalm 28:1
To you I CALL, O Lord my ROCK;

1 Corinthians 10:2-4
2and all were baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea.

3And all ate the same spiritual meat,

4and all drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.

Talk to this Rock! And it will bring forth water, living water! If Moses had never struck this rock the second time around, he would have been allowed into the promised land...the land rich with supply and enjoyment.

If we can just call on the Lord and talk with Him we too will come to a place where we will be richly supplied and find rich enjoyment.

Jesus is this Rock. All we need to do is call upon Him. Christ has been struck the first time on the Cross already. Now we can just talk with Him. And we then can enter the good land instead of wandering in the desert!
18  Theology / General Theology / Relying on Jesus on: May 09, 2005, 06:13:50 AM
So how do we rely on Jesus for all our problems? Simply call on Him and believe with all your heart that He will deliver you. Trust in the Lord.

Romans 10:12
...the same Lord over all is rich unto all that CALL UPON HIM.

Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall CALL UPON THE NAME of the Lord shall be SAVED.

Saved not only for our eternal salvation, but saved also of ALL our situations...saved from this world and hell.

Psalm 25:1
To you O Lord, I lift up my soul;
in you I trust, O my God.

Psalm 28:7
The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.

My heart leaps for joy
and I will give thanks to him in song.

Psalm 23:1
The Lord is my shepard, I shall not be in want.

Psalm 27:1
The Lord is my light and my salvation...
The Lord is the stronghold of my life...

Who is Lord? Jesus is Lord!! That is why we call Him Lord, because He is the Lord of everything. He is everything to us. I would just simply go over Psalms and see how much the Lord can apply in all things and all situations.

19  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Rapture, Saved or reward based? on: May 08, 2005, 04:15:24 AM
I haven't done much of a study into it but I feel it would be reward based.

Might look into later and add more...
20  Theology / General Theology / Re:Made to be broken? on: May 08, 2005, 04:04:30 AM
Something thats been on my mind as of late.   Ever thouht about this?   Are we made to be broken so that God can rise to the surface?   Think about it...

Moses
David
Peter
Paul

What did it take for these to be used the way that they were used by God?   Kind of a scary thought when we ask God to use us for His purpose isn't it?

I think many times when we find ourselves in the midst of terrible trials, partly those are to break our will and humble us to the point that we fall flat on our face and are forced to allow God to use us according to HIS purpose.   I am realizing this more and more in my walk, and I must admit its scary at times  Cheesy    This seems abundantly evident in scripture though.

2Co 12:10  Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

What say ye?

Grace and Peace!

This is an important thing to bring up bro. Thanks for bringing it up. God needs to break us so we can recognize our need for Him. It's not scary at all brother, God disciplines those He loves and the breaking is good for us. Otherwise, we fall away from God.

The reason we must be broken:

The only thing that God wants for us, is to completely rely on Him. Praise the Lord, we are weak...but because we are weak the power of Christ tabernacles over us. God loves us just as we are and desires us just to trust and love Him. God has everything planned out for us.

Everyone will go through life trying to do things on their own. Everyone will rely on their own abilities...but this is not what God wants. We should learn something from the gospel of salvation. It is done by the GRACE of God! We cannot attain our own salvation by good works. This is what grace is: when we cannot do something, someone else does it for us; when we are weak, another one stronger than us gives us strength; when we fail, another one more powerful than us makes us conquer.

This someone is Christ. And Christ is Grace!

While we are not "broken" we are completely concerned with 'self'. But in this state...sooner or later you will fail. And that is when you are broken. That is when you will see that you need God, you need the grace of God which is Jesus Christ.

2 Tim 2:1
You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
21  Theology / General Theology / Re:Refuges on: May 08, 2005, 12:02:43 AM
Ah, a sister. Sorry about that  Embarrassed.

Thanks for the word sister. May God continue to operate in and through you.

btw, the cities of refuge was just an ambition and idea of mine and also of another brother. Not sure if that will happen. But I feel strongly about the Church of Laodecia coming out of a church or city of true worshippers.

I was just thinking about getting out of college when I came across what you said. And I recognized that that had a lot to do with what originally compelled me into Civil engineering and structural engineering (a city for God or building sanctuaries for refuge). I still ponder what I am doing in school, but I know that God is leading me and I will continue to walk by faith.
22  Theology / General Theology / Re:Refuges on: May 07, 2005, 03:45:52 PM
I am in a position where the Lord could use me for that purpose.

I am currently majoring in Civil engineering and may specialize in structural engineering. But some time ago I had the ambition to build a city where people would live Christ day by day...that's maybe what you are talking about: refuges. I think this is why I am here. I have another Christian brother who is a civil engineer who has the same vision.

Maybe this is the purpose of the Lord. I'm not sure. It wont be manifested until probably 10 years later. I'm still an undergrad. Then I'll have to get into a graduate program. And then spend sometime in an engineering firm before I can get anywhere for the Lord's purpose. That seems to be the most likely scenario.

Quote
It seems, according to the prayer impressions, that Christians may not be raptured out of the mess to come, but will be in need of refuges from persecution, instead.

Brother, this is true! Are you talking about the Rapture? If so, I do not believe that all Christians will be raptured.

Quote
Now the terrible events I've "seen" seem to be a good ways off timewise, perhaps even after I'm long gone from the earth

I think so too. I feel that after those cities which live Christ day by day are established, some of them may become the Church in Laodicea as prophesied in the book of Revelation. This may be some time away. I think it will take another generation after the cities are established before they start to become degraded.

Just some thoughts on what may happen.

Quote
He wants His people to have the knowledge of how to have a relationship with Him in which they can entrust their own and their loved ones lives to Him NO MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCES AROUND THEM.

Amen brother! Praise the Lord. No matter what the circumstance!
23  Theology / Apologetics / Re:edification on: May 06, 2005, 01:10:48 AM
I was just wondering. I think I did the opposite of edification to another brother. Even though I was just and in the right under the circumstances, I still felt that what I did was not right by the standard of life. I spoke the truth, but for the brother he was weak and not ready for it.

So I asked God to give me a chance to redeem myself. When I got home, God provided me with the opportunity to edify my sister with the Word.

So that's why I wanted to know the opposite of edification. Since I feel that what I did to the other brother was the opposite of edification, as I made myself right before God after I edified someone.
24  Theology / General Theology / Re:Fruits of the Holy Spirit on: May 06, 2005, 01:06:51 AM
Quote
One of the primary purposes of the Holy Spirit coming into a Christian's life is to change that life. It is the Holy Spirit's job to conform us to the image of Christ, making us more like Him.

The Christian life is a battle of the acts of the sinful nature with the fruit of the Holy Spirit. As fallen human beings, we are still trapped in a body that desires sinful things Romans 7:14-25. As Christians, we have the Holy Spirit producing His fruit in us and the Holy Spirit's power available to us to conquer the acts of the sinful nature 2 Corinthians 5:17; Philippians 4:13. A Christian will never be completely victorious in always demonstrating the fruits of the Holy Spirit. It is one of the main purposes of the Christian life, though, to progressively allow the Holy Spirit to produce more and more of His fruit in our lives - and to all the Holy Spirit to conquer the opposing sinful desires. The fruit of the Spirit is what God desires our lives to look like. And with the Holy Spirit’s help, it is possible.

Amen bro.

The Spirit is inside us transforming us and on the outside we are conforming to Christ. People can see these by the fruits that we will bear. These are the fruits of the Holy Spirit. I think some people may mistake this concept by thinking that they themselves can bear these fruits of love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance by their own ability. But it is not by our own abilities that we can acheive this!!

It is by the work of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. And that is in our spirit. We need to be led by the spirit at all costs! I believe that this is listening to the inward life and denying our mind and body. We should not do things based on what we think is right or wrong...even if we are correct. We should do things based on the Spirit. That Spirit was given to us when Christ died and resurrected. The Holy Spirit came and dwelt in us with the purpose of transforming us from inside out to become Sons of Glory, Sons of God...with Christ as the Firstborn(romans 8:29, galatians 4:6). Praise this Lord! This is our destiny! To be glorified.

To put this to practice you must surrender yourself and deny yourself, COMPLETELY. We have recognized that we are sinners...but we need to recognize that we are even less...nothing! We are nothing without Christ. Our wisdom may be true but it is empty and nothing without Christ. Our works may be great but it is empty and nothing without Christ. We must decrease, He must increase (John 3:30).

Christ needs to be your mind. Christ needs to be your will. Christ needs to be your emotion. He needs to move out from your spirit into your soul.

Christ needs to be everything to you. He is the great I AM. In Him we have no want (psalm 23:1). In Him we can do ALL things (phillipians 4:13). That is why we should know...

1 cor 3:21
Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours:

We have all things in Christ. We truly do. Can you believe this? So stop relying on yourself and on other men. It is not by your own ability that you truly have anything. Rely on Christ and know that Jesus is REAL and LIVING. Apart from Christ you can do nothing (john 15:5).

It is through Christ that we can bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
25  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Do animals have a soul? on: May 05, 2005, 02:28:21 AM
Judgenot, I would have to disagree with John Myers. The Hebrew word -nephesh- for 'soul'  means "that which breathes." The same term is used is used in Gen 1:20 and Gen 1:30 in reference to the living animals.

Quote
And in the many references to the word "soul" in the Bible, nowhere is it used referring to an animal, always to humans

That is false. The words refering to life (in animals) in Genesis 1:20 and Genesis 1:30 is the same as that refering to life in humans in Genesis 2:7. The word is nephesh.

Hello, I am new here. Nice to meet you all! I hope my question is in the right forum.... Well, I have had a question that has been bothering me for quite some time. I want to know if animals have a soul. In Genesis 1:24-25, it states that the land produced living creatures. In Genesis 1:30 God said every living thing has the breath of life in it.... So does that mean they do? It would be kinda sad if they didn't. I hope you can help me. Thank you!

I believe that animals have a body and soul. But they do not have a spirit. Man has a body, soul, and a spirit. Man was the only thing that God breathed into...this is the spirit. As we can see Jesus breathed onto His disciples and they received the HOly Spirit. Also, the word of God is God-breathed and Jesus said, "the words I speak are spirit and are life."

The spirit is what enables us to worship God. (For the true worshippers are those who worship in spirit and in truthfulness John 4:23,24) Animals cannot (or  do not) worship God.

The spirit is what makes us like God. This is where I believe we were made in the image of God. When man sinned they fell out of touch with the spirit. That is why we are charged to walk in the spirit. I learned a lot from brother Gary Cook. It is true that when we walk in the spirit we do not sin because that is not the spirit's desire. (gal 5:16 So I say, live by teh Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature) That was how man fell short of the glory of God. That is why when we are born again were are born again of the spirit.

YOu see...animals have feelings. Anyone with pets know that they have a mind, emotion, and will. This is the soul. But nowhere do we see animals worshipping a statue or something. A brother shared with me that out in nature, we never ever see monkeys worshipping or building an altar of a sun god to worship. That would just be bizarre. However that is common with man. Throughout all of time, Man has inherently worshipped something. In the primitive areas this is apparent, yet this is also apparent in the modern areas. It is worship of this world. This is because Man has the spirit. This inherent desire can only come from something within us, and that is the spirit which no other being in this universe possesses.

A body can detect another body (with our 5 physical senses). A soul can detect another soul (communication or sharing thoughts: humans talking to each other, animals talking to each other, and humans communicating with animals. In doing so, we make known what is on our mind, our emotion, and our will...which are the 3 parts of the soul). A spirit detects the Spirit (one way is through prayer). That is why in John 4:24 it says

John 4:24
God is spirit. And those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.

God is spirit. That is why worship to God must be in spirit. (spirit-Spirit...just like body-body, soul-soul)

It's confusing cause soul and spirit are used interchangeably today. It must be understood that they are seperate. We are tripartite. We have three parts: body, soul, and spirit. Animals just have a body and soul. The Lord is one with us in spirit (1 cor 6:17).

Brothers and Sisters, we should constantly pray that we can live and walk by the spirit

Galatians 5:25
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

If you can't fast, you can call on the name of the Lord to exercise your spirit. Just call out with your mouth Jesus is Lord! At first you may feel ashamed because Satan is trying to stop you. If people are around you, it will be even more difficult cause Satan definetely does not want those people and you yourself to hear it. But say it 3 times anywhere...each time with more of your being. Praying is also exercise of the spirit.

This exercise is profitable for both this age and the age to come!

This may still be unclear or it may be new to some. So please ask questions or make comments. If you have different views or ideas please feel free to present them.
26  Theology / Debate / Re:King James Version 100% pure on: May 04, 2005, 01:07:52 AM
I support the KJV but do not believe it is as good as the Recovery version. You can see more by looking up Witness Lee.

I now use the Recovery version more often. But for me it does not matter what version I use...the Spirit still leads me. The Spirit will lead you if you let it. This is done best when you pray over the verse. Read each word and believe in it with all your being. Go slowly. When you pray it you are exercising your spirit. That's how you receive the word.

John 16:13
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

I also use the KJV and NIV quite often. When you search Scripture, you must come to Jesus to find life. If you do not find life it is useless. These Words are spirit and life.

Jesus scolded the pharisees for searching through the Scriptures and not coming to Him. Likewise, when we go to the word we must come to Christ.

John 5:39
You search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me,

John 5:40
Yet you refuse to come to me to have life.

let the Holy Spirit in your heart be your guide for prayer

Hey bro,

That's why I usually start out with "Lord Jesus" so my spirit can start exercising. No one speaking by the Spirit of God can say "Jesus be cursed" and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit (1 cor 12:3).

However, while Jesus was on earth He refered to asking the Father for all things. The Father gives us things and it will be done in the name of the Son Jesus Christ. Yet both are the one God. I am still unsure.

But I will take heart to let the Holy Spirit intercede in prayer on my behalf. I will call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
28  Theology / Debate / Re:King James Version 100% pure on: May 03, 2005, 03:36:17 PM
My parents speak mandarin Chinese. I will tell you something. Translating english into mandarin will never ever ever have the same connotation and syntax. I find people who argue the superiority of a translation are closed in a small world that speaks on english. Do you know how many languages there are in this world?

When I hear a verse in Chinese and compare it to the one I know in english...it is ENTIRELY different. The syntax and connotations are very different. For instant prov 3:5...'lean not on your own understandings' In chinese it literally means 'you cannot be close to your own smarts' Smarts and understanding can be very different. Leaning not and cannot be close can be very different. This is when I am exercising my mind and not my spirit.

I find that many saints from China are far more well-versed than some saints here in America who have the KJV. How is this so?

Because the truth cannot arrive through human wisdom. When you talk about translations you are relying on human wisdom. The WORD OF GOD IS NOT MEANT TO BE RECEIVED BY THE MIND. Who is the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth that guides man to Truth!

What's the opposite of edification
30  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Is the Son.. Jesus the Christ, the father? on: May 03, 2005, 01:37:14 AM
Hey Tom. That is no coincidence at all. You know something? It was exactly that...
Quote
"When ye pray, say 'Father'."
that lead me to post my thoughts here.

Sometimes I pray first to Lord Jesus Christ and sometimes it's Father. So I wasnt sure which was right. That's why I found Is the Son...Jesus the Christ, the Father to be interesting as I treat it that way sometimes. This goes back to what was stated earlier. Same person different role (grandpa, dad, son)...different forms same thing (water, ice, gas).

Just to make sure I understand. Is it ok to start out, "Lord Jesus"? Or should it be "Father".

thanks
