1  Theology / Debate / Re:Abortion: Right or Wrong? on: March 25, 2004, 08:35:47 PM

Where does the bible say that God intends those rights to apply, in full, to the unborn?   It doesn't - it's an assumption.  It's an assumption I happen to agree with but you're only kidding yourselves by pretending it's clear cut.

As it is written in
Psalm 139: 13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
16 your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

I don’t know if I would call it assumption or interpretation. I guess some would. My understanding of these verses is He knew me before I was born. He created me, He knit me together. All my days were planned. I don’t think anyone should have the right to end that life that God created. So therefore All life from conception to natural death belong to Him the creator of life and no one has a right to take that life.

Thank you so much LMarsh (and others) for your comforting supportive words.

I think I am going to like visiting this site  Cheesy

Hubby is wonderful Cheesy and they are all great kids.

Right now they are at my husbands computer. One of the 5 year olds is playing a game on Sesame street website

Chatting with other believers and with others in my same situation (multiples) is a great stress reliever especially on the internet where you all can't hear the fighting and arguing Wink

5 kids? Are you by any chance a Catholic?

nope I'm not Catholic Smiley

The only label I like to hold is the one given in John 1 verse 12  "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-- "

I think the only times I have ever entered Catholic Churchs were for Weddings and funerals Wink

How many of them are twins? Just 2? Or is there another reason for the name?
I have one set of twins and one set of triplets

You know, if it is any consolation, they say it is almost impossible to indoctrinate someone pass Middle-School. Believe it or not, most people are set in their beliefs by High School.

Sad my children are just going into Kindergarten.  Cry

Oldest are just 5 years old

Thanks for the support and encoraging words  Smiley
7  Prayer / Prayer Requests / my children going into Public school on: March 23, 2004, 09:17:44 AM
I am feeling a bit sad and a bit guilty that I am not going to Home School. I just don’t see it as something I can do.

School registration is on Monday (Mar. 29th) I will get to meet the teachers and see the classroom. I am not looking forward to the first day of school or any other. One thing I keep thinking of is the bad behavior that will be picked up another is the lack of respect the schools have for Christian morals.

I also think about how others will judge me because of this decision we made to use the public school system. I know for sure that one of my relatives will be very disappointed and come down on me hard for this choice. She home schools and has more children them us.

Please pray for me to have confidence in the training we have done so far and in the public school system that will be teaching our children.

Thanks twin trip mommy

It is funny it sounds like you are describing my husband when he was in college. Shy, quiet, not into trendy clothing, smart looking, conservative, in the military for 6 years.

Also sounds like you do know a little about this guy already. You may want to take a daring step and ask him out for coffee or walk through the local Mall talking

Is this a Christian college you are attending? Maybe you could attend a concert together. Either way whatever you do decide to do to get to know him better you should try to include a time of prayer on your date(s). Keep Christ the center. You may not end up in a relationship with this guy but you could be making a friend for life so take it slow.

Praying it works out the way you hope.
9  Theology / Debate / Re:Abortion: Right or Wrong? on: March 21, 2004, 09:24:57 PM
I am coming late to this topic but had to share that I think Abortion is murder. I did not read this entire thread (way to long) but I did read the first page and the last.

I get so frustrated with people that call it Freedom of Choice and say that the (I hate this word) “fetus” is not a human life until it is born. IMO that is sick.

Praise God He did not make my husband and I make a choice during our first pregnancy. I was told that I had a “sac” that was developing to slow and that I would have to make a choice to have it “removed” if it did not catch up. Thank the LORD that He in his infinite wisdom and ability took care of this Himself. At my next ultrasound the Doctors saw that the sac was empty. No need for “medical intervention”
A Doctor also told me once that one of my babies appeared to have Downs’s syndrome and another had Spinabiffida  (sp?). We refused any more testing (Dr admitted there was nothing that could be done with the results other then making the choice to abort or continue). ALL our children are living and none have Downs or spinabiffida.

I did look at the link but only after I saw the linked picture. I totally agree with the statement  “But if it is just "fetal tissue", then it should not bother you at all.” We as believers should know that it is NOT just “fetal tissue” and it should bother us to the core.

I am so sorry for your loss HopeAndFaith. I cannot imagine the pain you are going through. May the LORD give you comfort

Mommy dearest, (sorry - I just HAD to address you that way!)  Grin

I take it that comment was because of my post in the "Children's punishment" topic   Cheesy

You guys are good.

This was a question from another site I am on and it was originally posted by a Mormon and she did say she closed the door after the discussion with "a smile on her face"

I believe their is only one way to the Father and that is through the Son. There is no other way .

My husband and I talked about this before I posted and we both agreed that if the situation came up we would engage them in conversation and accept their literature if they accepted ours and listened to our views. Our reasons are much the same as what Tibby shaired.

My husband almost became a Mormon before he was introduced to the LORD (wow! that was back 20 years ago) so he finds conversations with them interesting.

We LOVE experience!  I look forward to learning a thing or two from you. Smiley

Welcome!

oh goodness Thanks but I would imagine I will be a taking a lot more than I will be giving.
13  Fellowship / You name it!! / What would You do? on: March 20, 2004, 07:02:40 PM
I'll set up the scenarios.

  • You hear a knock on your door and it is someone wanting to share their religion with you. They want to give you a book. Do you accept it?
  • You are walking a neighborhood sharing your religion. You knock on a door and start sharing. You then offer them a Bible. They say they will only accept if you accept a book on their religion ie: Book of Mormon. Do you accept their book so that they will accept yours?

That was beautiful, inspiring and unselfish.

Thanks for sharing. Did you write this?
15  Theology / Debate / Re:Children's punishment on: March 20, 2004, 12:06:16 PM
In our home it depends on the:

Act
Intent
Knowledge of it being acceptable or unacceptable
Heart at the time
Willingness to ask forgiveness or admit to the wrong

I have 5 children ages 5 and under. Husband and I have made it pretty clear what we accept and do not accept as behavior in our home. All the children (in our opinion) understand the main rules of the home. WE are pretty strict which makes us very loving parents.

I just pray that what we are doing now builds strong character and obedient God loving children (teens/adults) able to deal with the world/people around them.
