1  Entertainment / Movies / Re: Whats the last movie you watched?? on: March 27, 2007, 01:53:18 PM
Blackeyedpeas, I couldn't have said it better. I absolutely agree. My niece always picks on me and says Im too old fashioned at this age, but the movies they present now, I wouldn't watch for a million dollars. Seems like every movie made now has to consist of the following: A ridiculous amount of vulgarity, even though it doesn't make any sense when it said, you can only hear the "F" word so many times before it gets tiresome {in which case by the first use of it, I'm usually done w/ the movie}, Lots of unnecessary violence and gruesome. Seems like movies now are seeing who can get the bloodiest for shock value. Yes, I want to pay $8.50 at a theatre to see some guys ankle chopped off and zoom in how the person is hacking through the bones and veins- Erg. No thanks. Then don't forget, the "big" thing now in movies is the Blasphemous attention to God or Christianity or Jesus. Using the Lords name in vein, using churches and Bibles as a way to promote their perversion, Satan is always glorified and you have some "Christian" who is made to look like the "crazed" one while the more demonic the scenes are the better the attention it grabs.

Sorry, not into any of. For me, that sort of stuff has been played out, done a million times. Never impresses me and I can think of 7,458 other things then insult my intelligence to watch that rubbish for 2 hours. While some may say Black & Whites are out of date, etc. @ least they had a point to them. The dialogue was classic at best. One liners were everywhere. The leading men & women really caught your eye and there is something to be said about the innocence of those movies that today’s movies, no matter how hard they try cannot capture.

Having said all this, this isn't to say EVERY SINGLE movie is bad, but the majority coming out of Hollywood is putrid. There really is nothing original and I understand why Hollywood does it and don't you think for a second the enemy doesn't love this stuff revealed. He uses it to his advantage especially for the young.

Ok...enough rambling. I'm off to watch another movie. Love it: Harvey with Jimmy Stewart and his talking/invisible Pooka!

12  Entertainment / Sports / Re: Super Bowl Coaches Dungy, Smith, Known For Christian Testimony on: February 11, 2007, 12:15:32 PM
I found coach Dungy’s speech inspirational if not at the very least bold! To make a public announcement (more then one time) in front of MILLIONS of people proclaiming the victory first & foremost belongs to Christ was to say the least AWESOME! I wish there were more coaches & fame pressed individuals like Tony D. He took a stand for this faith & I couldn’t have been happier to say “Yay,1 for the Christians!”
13  Prayer / Prayer Requests / =( Prayer Needed!!! on: February 04, 2007, 02:48:46 PM
Please keep the families of Mr & Mrs Rick & Debra Searles in prayer! These were 2 close friends of mine who lost their life last night in a fatal car accident. The article is below. *They are the mentioned people from Florida. I am SHOCKED to say the least and admittedly, I don't handle death well so crying is just what I can do.
I do not know if they were saved. I'd hate to accuse anyone of it & say they are not in heaven, but if I had to guess I do not believe they were and this makes it even more sad! But please pray for their daughter and other family. For some comfort, for some restored joy in which they will need and Encouragement. Also, prayer that if these other family members do not have Jesus as their persona savior-Please pray that they would hear the word and accept him as their personal Savior.

Thank you~
*Hugs*

15  Fellowship / Just For Women / Re: Does God want us to have fun? on: February 02, 2007, 11:06:29 AM
Greetings Babybear~
Well Pastor Roger just typed a GREAT post with much of what I was thinking.

I've been saved over 7 years now. I gotta tell you, I have a ton of fun! I go out, I do things, I hang w/ friends & family, Almost any person who knows me will you tell you that I never stop laughing or find something funny in anything...As Pastor Roger said its what you consider fun. If you've given your life to the Lord your old fun and some of the things you once did or people you were with don't really seem like fun anymore because you look through that and notice it isn't pleasing to God. It contradicts everything you believe in & What Jesus stands for and that your desire for "sin" in some instances just isn't there.
Before I was saved my favorite places were clubs & bars. I was never really a drinker, but I loved to hang out! Loved to do karaoke and shoot pool and just hang out & laugh, but w/ that came many things that I shouldn't have been doing. I'm sure you understand where I'm going. So now that I am saved, I don't have a real desire to go to some bar with a lot of foul mouthed, drunken individuals. Listen to their filthy conversations or have a guy try to pick me up to go home w/ him that night. See it doesn't fit into my lifestyle and I know by doing such it would displease God. As the Bible says "What does darkness have to do with light..."
Fun to me-I have so much of it. I still act immature w/ my sisters. We go out late at night but not at the bars. We usually go to some diner at 2 AM and just act silly like girls do. Then we go to Wal-Mart and just walk around & shop for things we really don't need. We go shopping, I go to the movies, I hit the flea markets & thrift stores on the weekends w/ friends, I go to Christian functions, I go to concerts, Play cards @ my girlfriends house-we are Euchre fanatics! I Have get togethers at my house for football or someone brings a movie. I mean seriously, I think thats a lot of fun.
Its just you have a different outlook on it when your focused on the Lord but God does NOT want or ask of us not to have fun. Actually, Its much more fun being a Christian then not! Smiley SO I think anyway~~
