31  Fellowship / You name it!! / Sickening bad news on: May 18, 2004, 06:42:25 AM
:(A lot of bad news this last while.  I never miss the news but get very sad at times.  I suffer with chronic eczema which is so hard to get rid off.  Now I have a cure, Prais the Lord.  Now at last I WILL GET CLEAR OF IT.
Point is all the bad news in the world gets us down especially when we have our own suffering.  I am always cheered up by the good news stories but there is never enough of them.

;DI am grinning as the book I read a while back (see boods, An Army with Banners) trys to give proof of our similarities.  Advertising rules puzzle me a little.  If I break any rules please tell me as I want to keep them. Cheesy
Quote "The Roman Church has been a fortress in defence of the incarnation--the things that are of the utmost importance both to the Reformed Faith and to Christianity"  Luther and Calvin when leaving Roman Church were never re-baptised, "continued to recognise the validity of Romish baptism."  Believed Christian grace and all the essentials for salvation were there.
I am trying to check out these details etc.  PLEASE HELP ME AND CORRECT ME IF YOU THINK I AM WRONG. Grin

This is an incredible book written by William Brown.  It is about the famous Ulster Orangemen.  How their ritual is not Christian and how sectarianism is out of control.  It opens up a complete pandoras box and is changing my views.  It explains how we are closer to the Catholic Church than most believe.  The usual quotes are there for proof.  Im checking some of them out.  The more I study these quotes the more I believe Williams version.

:)This last while this collection is getting too much for me.  Much too deep and too much explanation in the commentaries.  I am not smart enough and cannot cope with explanations of scripture going on and on.  I like a simple commentry etc. Smiley

:(I would refer you to Desertmouse's post of Mar 2004 where he has a lonl to a remarkable website.  That website explains how the film is based on the Catholic Mass.  For me personally when I saw a short clip and heard about the violence I was annoyed.  I cant stand too much violence in any film.  I certainly wont be watching it.  Then I read a review of the film in, "The Times" for Mar 20.  Mel Gibson has attacked the "New York Times" critic Frand Rich  by saying, "I want to kill him, I want his intestines on a stick.....I'll kill his dog."  Now I dont think that sounds very Christian does it?   Sad
36  Entertainment / Television / T.V. on Sunday on: March 19, 2004, 02:16:37 AM
I limit myself to wholesome sensible progs. on Sunday.  Sometimes we even get a prog. on the Holy Land.  Last Sun. "Bible Mysteries" on BBC 2.  It is very good and should be repeated.  At night I cant resist the classic, "Heartbeat" on ITV 2.  Crime around a friendly police station with crazy David etc.  Here in N. Ireland some Free Presbyterians (Rev Paisleys Church) dont watch any T.V. on Sunday.  I just couldent get any day in without it.  It really chears me up and keeps me living Grin

:)It is so good to have something really worth watching.  It was "The Pride of Britain Awards" on ITV 1 on March 16.  I watch it every year.  It brought tears to the eyes as always.  One wee boy had no arms.  Got his leg taken oof, helped to raise thousands for charity.  Children and adults saving lives etc.  Prince Charles and Tony Blair joining celebrities to present the prizes.  What a programme? Smiley

 :)PC Study Bible version 3
An incredible library of books.  Commentaries, Concordances, Cross Ref. tools, etc. etc.  There is so much.  Before I got this I had reasd the Bible about 7 times.  I had been reading the Matther Henry commentary as well.  There is a Bible study course but I had to give it up as it is too hard to follow.
39  Entertainment / Books / Sign of the Fish on: February 28, 2004, 02:20:53 AM
;DI have just finished reading a wonderfull book.  It was a part of a Christmas present from a dear frind.  It is written by August Ericson with Noel Davidson.  Ericson a former public school boy who became a fish fryer and manyother business ventures.  He skered the wife by suggesting he sell the house.  He had taken some verses from the Bible perhaps too literally.  A very excited chap who is determined to win as many souls for the Lord as possible.  There is no stopping him.  It makes you feel ashamed of how little some of us can achieve.  Obstacles constantly get in our way.  Myself, I have so many excuses.  Excuses which are not real excuses when examined one by one.  If you can get your hands on this book you are in for a real treat.  May we all try to spread the word.

Greetings Symphony Smiley
St. Patricks day will be fun.  Last year I went to the cross community parade in Downpatrick.  Very enjoyable and even added attraction of a open air variety entertaint.  A pop group from England impersonating the Beatles.  I sang a long to many of these classic songs.  "Annahavil" means "marsh of the orchard."  This is the name of the townland I live in.  Marsh meaning the bog where I used to cut turf.  Turf is a fuel for the fire.  As for orchard our small one with only 2 useless plum trees seems to be the only one.  Being an Aquarian means my star sigh Aquarius.  I certainly dont follow star signs but thats another story.   Smiley
41  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Needing help on: February 01, 2004, 08:35:38 AM
Please pray for my cintinuing problems with a nasty skin disease called eczema. Five years ago it got worse due to the side effects of a tablet for asthma.  My hands and my legs are the biggest problem.  I pray continually for relief and try new products so maybe soon I will have relief.
Also pray for my Mother in a care home.  She is 87 and we have always been very close.  Pray that she will be as cintent as possible.
42  Fellowship / What are you doing? / I need to do more on: January 31, 2004, 01:59:44 PM
:)Every night I pray for un-saved people to consider getting saved.  If I go into a church or chapel I pray for the un-saved.  I only wish I had the courage to give out tracts or some of the things we Christians need to try and do.  If I had the patience I would perhaps have longer prayers.  To try perhaps to get closer to God.  To make my prayers more like conversations with Our Lord and Saviour.
43  Fellowship / What are you doing? / Re:Giving Thanks! on: January 31, 2004, 01:40:58 PM
:)Giving thanls is very important.  My prayers every night are a series of short prayers.  First I give thanks for T.V., radio, all the lovely food, reading, the computer and maybe somewhere I have been to.  Maybe someone I have met or visited and thanking God for taking away my asthma and eczema.  A very odd time I might fall asleep without praying.  I always try to make up for it in the morning.  Is this O.K.?
44  Entertainment / Television / Re:The "L" Word (Trend?) on: January 31, 2004, 01:26:06 PM
Couldent agree more.  T.V. at present is getting worse all the time in some shows.  Most programs are decent enough.  Here is N. Ireland Chanell 5 is especially disgusting with far too much serial killer type films etc.  Death and more death.  We need to be cheered up, do we not?  I mainly watch T.V. to be cheered up.  I have eczema (skin rash) which constantly annoys me.
45  Entertainment / Movies / Jesus of Nazareth on: January 19, 2004, 02:11:19 PM
Back in the 1970's Franco Zeffirelli made this incredible film.  I loved every minute of it.  If only they would repear it.  The haunting, beautiful music, the scenery, what a film.  Let's hope many souls were saved by watching it.   Smiley
