1  Prayer / Answered Prayer / God has opened my eyes on: January 14, 2004, 10:28:17 AM
;DI have been reading the prayer of jabez devotional. My mother got it for me about a year ago and i just put it on the shelf wasn't ready to hear what god had to say. lately however i have been searching for something that is missing and I have found that it is God and the fellowhip of christian friends. I am filled with a new enthusiasm and faith and hope this book is awesome!!I have been searching for God's purpose thinking he would send me somewhere-but- I think he wants me right here and enjoying everyday. Here is a passage that opened my eyes amoung the many...Today, Your Father is at work.  And if you open your eyes and your mouth for Him todday, you'll meet a miracle with your name written all over it...Good Huh? also liked this one Never make the blunder of trying to forecast the way God is going to answer your prayers by Oswald Chambers.  This book is great and I would suggest it for anyone who is feeling down and wondering what their purpose is...So good I read 3 in one day.PRAISE THE LORD!!also My brother in law is a writer-He finally became a published writer...A big answer to prayer 2 more times and he can become a college english professor and they can move closer to home!! they live in Boston and we live in central IL Grin Smiley

While filling out an application for one store I started talking to a man who told me he wife managed another store and they were looking for someone with my qualifications...So I applied and they are calling today to set me up a schedule. Thanks for all the prayers. Can't wait to go back to work. not only did i find a job but they are willing to work around my college class schedule. That teaches me to NEVER give up on the Lord. Cool Grin Grin

Thanks for the replies. I was unhappy in my job and Im sure God does have something in mind but I guess I am getting impatient and want to know right now what it is...know what I mean. but everything in God's time right?...Boy is it hard to be patient.
4  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Looking for God's purpose in my life on: January 09, 2004, 03:24:40 PM
Lately since losing my job and deciding to go back to school full-time...I have really been praying and studying trying to figure out exactly what God's will is for my life. I feel i am at a crossroad and don't know which way to turn...I thought my life was all planned out. I knew what I wanted to do and I was headed in that direction. Now it seems as if a road block has been thrown up and I don't know where to go..Pray that God will make known to me what direction to take...waiting in the Lord. Be still and know that I am God.....I'm trying Huh
5  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re:help me on: January 09, 2004, 03:18:43 PM
Early57 I read your post and the replies. I cried. Your story is similar to mine in that we have both wondered away from God and church and lost sight of ourselves. Have you thought of trying another church? maybe you have outgrown the one you are in and need more than they can give you have been through so much... at times it seems like God is not listening or is just not answering...I feel it too. I will pray for you as I myself have no answers either. I will also pray that your daughter will return home or at least that she is safe and well. Prodigal son...
6  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Why was Jesus Baptized? on: December 31, 2003, 10:02:30 PM
thanks for answering my question..good point about the difference in views on baptism.  I really know very little about other denominations beliefs - I am enjoying learning. My husband is of the Lutheran faith but rarely do we discuss religion as he is not active in church anymore.

How are you feeling now I saw your post just recently and you have the same nickname as my teenage daughter. Gave me a scare I thought it was her.  I hope you are feeling better. will be praying.

As far as no other book store wanting you-All things are possible with God...Pray and he will answer maybe there is another area or position he would like to place you into...I am sorry you lost your job ddue to a fellow employee..I don't have any advice just that you pray for Gods will to come out of this somehow...I lost my job also recently and it makes you feel very low. don't lose you purpose though..God has a plan.God Bless Sad

11  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Financial struggles on: December 30, 2003, 04:48:12 PM
Please pray that I will be able to find some kind of work.  I have been out of work since the beginning of this month and with our 3 teenagers being here. things are starting to look bleak very quickly.  I would settle for anything right about now.  My husband is trying to find a better paying job and we are considering moving elsewhere so that we can both find better work.  I have to pray about this though because we've seen what happens when we take matters into our own hands.

13  Welcome / About You! / fighting my way back on: December 30, 2003, 11:12:13 AM
Hi I am 36 years old. I have 2 beautiful teenage daughters Roll Eyes
and 2 handsome teenage step-sons.  I was saved in 1993.  Since that time I have been in and out of church.  I am amazed at how many "supposed" christians there are out there.  I have been told to look at Christ as an example rather than man.  Ive played piano have since I was 5 and yes I am pretty decent. I sing as do my daughters. I would love to teach or help with the children I love to cook. Unfortunaltely around here are only small churches that are run by certain families "know what I mean?" I just don't feel needed nor do I feel a connection with  any of the churches so far. I have even tried outside my denomination but have yet to find a church that is alive and growing. I really desire to be used by God and I know that is my destiny but where do I start?  Where do I go. I am enjoying this forum. I have been looking for something like this since i dont know when. Finally CHRISTIANS with whom I can grow and learn. THANK YOU!!!

Hi Im new here but let me just say that stan will do and can do anything and everything to dissuade you from accepting Christ and christ's word including the use of well meaning friends.  better to make your stance known and why not question him everything you need to combat his opinions and that is what they are OPINIONS...is found the BIBLE.  Don't be afraid to ask your pastor...thats what he is there for and I do not believe he will be judmental of you but rather I believe he will be very relieved that you are coming to him for answers and help.  Surround yourself with Christians and Gods word do not be unequally yoked. for what does light and darkness have in common? Faith is the essence of things unseen.
15  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Why was Jesus Baptized? on: December 30, 2003, 10:52:26 AM
I was raised southern baptist and I also after much biblical searching believe that baptism is simply a symbolic gesture to show ones newness in christ. Smiley I have often wondered why certain faiths baptise their infants? What is that all about? How can an infant choose a life with Christ and why do they need to be baptised? are they pure and free of sin when they are born? not trying to "bash" anyone just curious?
