That's when the priest walks out holding up the cookie in the monstrance, which looks like a sunburst, and people come up and kiss it and adore it. And if any Protestant would say,

" hey, that's idolatry," that Protestant is to be accursed.

Where in the BIBLE does it say this? I cant understand how people think that we are supposed to live by anything but what the BIBLE says. Does it say that we are supposed to live by God's words.... and canon law, the pope's words, Kenneth Copeland's words, or Captain Kangaroo's words? Nope. I don't see it in the scripture, which is Jesus- who is the Word made flesh. Perfect.

BTW, the only thing that can curse me is God Himself , and this:

The Unpardonable Sin
Mark 3:28 "Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; 29but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation"-- 30because they said, "He has an unclean spirit."

And for the 3rd time, i post these scriptures, to back up what i am saying (copied and pasted from the Passion debate):

Deuteronomy 4:2
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish [ought] from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

Proverbs 30:6
Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

Revelation 22:18-19
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and [from] the things which are written in this book.

"And the burden of the LORD shall ye mention no more: for every man's  word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD  of hosts our God." (Jer 23:36

John 1.14. "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth."

"Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private  interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of  God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." (2 Pet 1:20-21)

"For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye  received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word  of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that  believe." (1 Th 2:13)

"I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy  lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy  name." (Psa 138:2)

"Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the  word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." (1 Pet 1:23)

"And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is  called The Word of God." (Rev 19:13)

"And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with  manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know  that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the  mouth of the LORD doth man live." (Deu 8:3)

"But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall  not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.  " (Mat 4:4)

"In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise  his word." (Psa 56:10)

"As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD  is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him."  (2 Sam 22:31)

"Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy  righteous judgments endureth for ever." (Psa 119:160)

"Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." (John 17:17)

"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is  the word of God:" (Eph 6:17)

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any  twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints  and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."  (Heb 4:12)

Making the word of God of none effect through  your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye."  (Mark 7:13)

"For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of  sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ." (2 Cor 2:17)
3  Theology / Apologetics / Re:"Easter, Should It Be In Your Bible?" on: March 18, 2004, 02:46:19 AM
I am wondering the same thing. What am i teaching my daughter? Will celebrating pagan rituals along with the Passover affect my salvation? Christmas too?  Sad

Here are some links i found with historical information about the induction of pagan rituals into the church, such as : easter eggs, easter bunnies, sunrise services, Lent... as with our discussion in December about Christmas, should we celebrate or not, i feel a really strong conviction about all this easter related mumbo jumbo. I don't want anything to cause the Lord to spit me out, or say He doesnt know me because i kept rituals. what do you guys think?

Revelation 3:16
So, because you are lukewarm–neither hot nor cold–I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

Yup! As long as you're not a threat, why should he bother ?
So true. I am trying really hard also to forgive my mom about some stuff, and stop my anger and judgement towards her. I guess the enemy is seeking to "steal , kill and destroy" my joy. I just have to keep putting on my armor!

I definately had those kinds of days when my son was that age.  I used to think that it would go on forever.  Well, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.    He is now nine and pretty much since he was 4/5 years old, he has pretty much been an angel.  I don't think I could ask for a better kid.

Submit yourselves therefore to God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  James 4:7

Although the enemy may come at us one way, he will have to flee from us seven ways.  Deuteronomy 28:7
I know my daughter is wonderful, made of God. I am just trying to focus on the positives... she speaks her mind, is willing to put up a fight, she is persistant, and doesn't shy away from conflict. Grin  On the other hand, she is so sensitive... 3 weeks ago, when i got the bad news from my doc and was spotting, starting a miscarriage, she was so sweet. we explained to her at the doctors office that the baby is with Jesus, and He would take care of him.  so later in the day, i stood in the kitchen crying, she came up and hugged my leg and said, "Its ok, mommy, the baby is with Jesus. Its ok."
Thanks for ths awesome scripture quotes, good reminders!

It will get worse for a while, but it will taper off when the enemy sees he is only making you more holy!
I sincerely pray that this is the case.

6  Theology / Debate / Re:Abortion: Right or Wrong? on: March 17, 2004, 06:00:42 PM
Let me say first off that this thread should be marked with a "caution, graphic picture" warning. as i started from the 1st page, i bypassed a link to an abortion site, by my choice. i had no idea that a photo was going to be on the 1st page below. Umm... how do say this nicely? I had a miscarriage 3 weeks ago yesterday at 10 weeks. i avoided the link because i didn't want to see the very thing i feared seeing as i miscarried. Sorry, i was a little upset about that photo, i didn't know there would be photos. Phewww! ok, that being said...

I used to be pro-choice, even as a Christian. My view point was this: If a woman is raped or pregnant due to incest, i thought that she should be able to decide for herself. I was sexually abused by my own father, so being pregnant from incest or rape was just about the most horrible thing i could imagine. I knew that killing and murder were serious sins, but i just couldn't stand the thought of making a woman under those circumstances carry a baby.

I never thought that a child should be aborted because of deformities. My youngest bro (who is really my cousin on my mom's side, but was adopted by our family) was born premature, was probably already handicapped, but then was shaken by his father who was a drug addict, my uncle. we dont know how handicapped he may or may not have been before the shaking, but i cant imagine my life without him. He is so funny, a joy. He is now 22, but has the mental capacity of a 4 year old.

When i became pregnant with my daughter in 2000, i changed my mind about abortion. I don't know how any person could support abortion after feeling a baby kick, move with purpose in the womb. even at the early stages. If an embryo is not considered to be alive, how could cells divide? that would be a scientific miracle. a thing has to be alive to divide cells. we were told we only had a 30% chance of ever conceiving because of 3 female problems i have. after 11 years of marriage, we got the best blessing ever.  after feeling the miracle with in my belly, i could never condone abortion, no matter what the circumstances.

I think i may have known there was something wrong with this baby i just miscarried. one night as we lay in bed, i asked my hub if we would be ok if the baby was abnormal. He said yes, we would love the baby more than ever. I knew i was ok with it, i just wanted to know how he felt.

Even though our baby- named Jimmy Poly by my 3 yr old daughter Grin- is in heaven, and we never held him in our arms, i know God loved him before he was ever in my womb, as the scripture says. I know that he has a purpose in God's kingdom. I wish he was still with us, in my belly, but i know that one day we will see him in heaven.

I saw a cartoon once, in the newspaper: a man yelled to heaven "God, there are so may terrible things here on earth. Why haven't you sent someone to cure cancer, or AIDS, or leukemia?"

God answered back from heaven, " I have, but My people keep aborting them."

10  Theology / Debate / Re:I am new... But I have a question... on: March 17, 2004, 01:46:16 PM
I am still in the process of weeding out "yucky" stuff from my books, music, and movies. My daughter was watching a Hello kitty DVD yesterday, i had never noticed before that a character consulted a crystal ball in a "snow white" like story. I immediately turned it off. my daughter asked why, so i had to tell her it had yucky stuff in it that Jesus doesn't like. How come i had never noticed it before? Probably because i wasn't doing my job, i should watch everything once to make sure it doesn't violate the Word. Also, i have been slacking as a Christian, i was not in tune so i wasn't hearing God's voice. Sad

I agree, you should pray about it, but it sounds like the Holy Spirirt has already given you some conviction on these shows, since you are feeling guilty. But that is a good thing! that means you not only hear His voice, but you are listening.

John 16
13   Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

John 14
26But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

Romans 5
5And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Luke 6:45   A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
46   And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
47   Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
48   He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
49   But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

Its true, garbage in, garbage out. A good rule my mom always told me: would you want Jesus to hear/see/read that? Meaning would you want your Saviour to have to listen to whatever you are listening to, ect?  He does have to hear and see everything, because He is with us every second of the day.

Wow, i really do have more "house cleaning to do". I guess we need to pray on all things, especially before we buy music, movies and books. The Holy Spirit will speak to us, we just have to listen. With practice, it will get easier.
11  Theology / Debate / Re:the Passion on: March 17, 2004, 01:08:14 PM
Ok, i don't see anything productive coming out of this thread, so i guess i am "taking my ball and going home." Grin I don't want to spend any more of my time being angry and judgemental, when i am working on both of these in my life. (my mom, Oye! thats another story)

Hugs In Christ, Mary

13  Fellowship / You name it!! / Oh, what a day! on: March 17, 2004, 12:18:52 AM
Have you ever had one of these days?

It started out really good. For the first time in months i actually prayed, praised and studied the word, all in one day. It was awesome! My 3 yr old daughter praised with me, and raised her hands while she sang for the 2nd time in the last few days.

Enter night.... No nap and a milk shake later... we get home from eating out and all you know what breaks out. Crying, screaming, temper tantrums, refusing to stay in time out, all lasting over 35 minutes. Then my daughter decided it was her turn. Grin No, but seriously, coincidence? i think not. I guess the enemy is really ticked off right now.
14  Theology / Debate / Re:the Passion on: March 16, 2004, 11:47:21 PM
Tibby, all i can say is WOW. Lets try to keep comments focused on the topic, not at each other. Mud slinging won't do anyone any good. I have nothing else nice to say, so i wont.
15  Entertainment / Music / Re:Pillar on: March 16, 2004, 11:42:06 PM
OOOH... Music tastes and preferences are such a personal thing. I don't like metal christian music and head banging stuff. My hub likes "korn" style musc (i like a little bit). he is really into Kutlass right now, i like them but i am in a really mellow mood lately. My criteria for Christian music- whether it be rock,  r&b, or praise- be that it has at least one song title containing Jesus or God. that way i know i am not buying a band pushing "feel good" music, that could be interpreted as secular or Christian.
