Thank you...
she did not get the job. She is upset my husband is angry.
he says we cannot financially continue to support her, and he is emotionally worn out from trying to support her so much (she is VERY needy)
he called me and says we may have to file for bankruptcy
which terrifies me.
i am alone and freaking out
i have no one to talk to and i am scared to pieces
i am so, so scared
i hate it when my husband does stuff like this, dumps bad news on me and then has to immediately get back to work/go to a meeting, and leaves me hanging
i wish i had someone to talk to

Prayer / Prayer Requests / Urgent prayer request
|

I am asking for urgent prayers for my step-daughter, Kris. She just seems to be unable to get a break in life. If something CAN go wrong with her or with life, it does for her. She is a Christian, but just has no victory in life.
She is unable to keep a job for very long. Something always goes wrong for some reason. She has severe health issues that cause her to miss a good deal of work as well, which doesn't help.
Right now she has the promise of a good, permanent job. However, the human resources department of the new job has called her to say they want to talk to her old job to find out why she was let go, and that they may not be able to hire her after all.
Please pray that she WILL get hired, that she WILL get this new job. Pray God will give her favor and allow human resources to see that she will be a good employee, because she would be, if someone would give her a chance. She should find out something on Friday afternoon.

Theology / General Theology / Re: Introducing young children to Jesus/God/Christianity

As a child I was hurt a lot in many ways by many people, continually, so I definitely understand--thanks for the advice.
WHICH Bible stories would you start with?
What, precisely, would you tell a child? Say, a 7 or 8 year old who was abused, and intelligent, and also had not heard about God before?

Need advice please
If a child had never heard about/ been talked to about God & Jesus before, how would you introduce her to Christianity and about Jesus? Especially if a child had been hurt a lot.... and needed to know that Jesus is our Savior and loves them very much. What words/ phrases would you use? What would you start with to even introduce Him? Take a picture of Jesus and say "Let me tell you about this guy?" Read a Bible story? If so, which one? What kind of concepts would you start with? I could use detailed ideas....having no idea where to start. Thanks.

Thank you Pastor.
I am just so lonely. My husband and I talked about this for a while tonight. He has to work all the time, and I work alone. We only get to see each other on weekends.
Mostly I am looking for hope. I want hope that in spite of all the abuse I went through, in spite of all the rejection and abandonment I have been through, that my life CAN be good again someday. That there can be hope and good things in MY life too... that I can have something to look forward to. I just get tired sometimes of this constant mental battle, the fears and loneliness and ache in my heart that is still there, despite giving my heart to the Lord, & being baptized, & reading the Word, etc.
I just am looking for some hope that things will get better.

Thank you Pastor Roger. I am still kind of confused though (big surprise... I'm often confused.) Will I, too, have double recompense for my former shame? Will I reap a harvest for the seeds I am sowing? Are MY tears in a bottle, too? If I trust in the Lord, will He give me the secret desires of my heart, too? Does God know how my I am hurting and does He care about ME, even though I'm really a nobody that no one else cares about? Is Jesus MY friend?

Where IS Jesus? Right now? I have been a Christian since I was 17.I was baptized at age 36 in March. Since that day, it's been like my mind and my family have been under spiritual attack. All of my life though, I have been very lonely. Gone through lots of different kinds of abuse, forgotten and abandoned by a lot of people, never had any real friends. I have always depended on God to get me through the hard times. Hard times have, in fact, drawn me closer to God--which, I suspect, is partially why I have gone through those hard times. I have heard that I "don't need anyone else"--that I "need Jesus". Which I agree with. In Jesus & the Lord are everything I need. But sometimes, I need God with skin on. Sometimes I need a friend. Sometimes I need someone in person to talk to. Now, I talk to God all throughout the day. Not just on Sundays in church. I spend time in worship with Him all day long. I talk to Jesus like he's my friend. But where IS he? Is he beside me? I don't feel him. Is he up in heaven? Is he wandering around the earth? Is he really listening to my prayers, which rarely ever seem to be answered? Is he really helping me when I ask him to? I've been praying for a friend, for him to heal my broken heart, for years and years. I do my part-- I do everything I can think of. I do my best to follow his will--when I can figure out what that is. I try to always do the right thing-when I can figure out what that is. It just doesn't seem like he is hearing me. Where is Jesus at? Is he really beside me? And if he is, how can he be beside every believer all of the time? There are promises in the Bible, like in Isaiah, about giving us double for our former shame, giving us a hundredfold reward, things like that-- but are those promises meant for ME, too? Or were they just for the people of long ago, for God's chosen people? Are God's promises really meant for Michelle, in 2009? Please, I need to know. I'm sorry for going on so long. Thank you so much.

Thanks so much. What about just being a children's pastor? ( I don't mean "just"... as thinking of it as "less than"...sorry) I mean, what about... if I wanted to be in children's ministry? Or even ministry with older adults? Do you suppose there are different types of training for that? How long does it take to become a pastor/ minister? I am meeting with my pastor on Friday to talk to him more about this as well. And I'm not worried about the money thing... I've always been poor and I'm quite comfortable with it

Exactly what do you have to do to become a pastor? Specifically, for children? I have a real heart to serve children. I have been called by God to take care of children. I have already been a teacher for a long time, and am currently a nanny. However, I won't be nanny forever. At a conference (Joyce Meyer) last year I had a vision of me working in the mission field with children. What exactly does it take to do these types of things? What kind of degree in college would I need to get? What kind of training, specifically, do you do? What do you have to learn about? How do you know if the Lord has called you? What all does a pastor do? Anything and everything you can tell me, I would appreciate!

Prayer / General Discussion / Re: Whos your Favotire Christian author?

Yes of course ultimately it is God who wrote the Bible. That fact just awes me. I love how the Bible is just woven together perfectly from the 1st page to the last. How it just...(looking for a word)....flows. How it all comes together. I only know a tiny bit of Hebrew and Greek, what I have learned from a few Bible studies, but I love how once you start getting into those languages, it comes together even more. It is the most incredible book. I love how I can read it again and again, and discover something new every time. I think we could probably read the Bible forever, and never know everything about it. I love how its a mystery, a love story, a battle, a bit of everything, all in one. It is the ultimate book. God is the perfect Author.

Prayer / Answered Prayer / !!!Hallelujah!!!

Thank you Jesus!!! I had posted a prayer request a few days ago asking prayer for my sister Lisa and brother in law Wally. They were facing a lawsuit. It has made their life very very difficult the past 2 months. Well the court day was yesterday--Thursday-- and it went WELL!!! It wasn't dropped, but things basically went well. Wally is able to go back to work, the injunction against him has been dropped. In fact, his former employer, the one who has been such a jerk, even tried to tempt him to come back to work for them-- with this awesome package and all sorts of benefits (hello, satan you tempter you! ) and Wally kept his integrity and told them NO!!! I was so proud of him! As part of the settlement they are not allowed to countersue (for things like slander) but at least Wally gets to go back to work and start earning money again. Hurray! My sister and her husband are now in need of a way to come up with $8,000 to pay for the lawyers fees and $2100 to pay the bankrupty court (these are 2 separate issues) but I know the Lord will provide somehow. He has shown that he will take care of them. Thank you Jesus!!!!

I agree, Paul is awesome. He was certainly on fire for the Lord and led by God's spirit in a way that I can only hope to attain someday. What I love about John is how he calls us little children. How he talks so much about love. And I like how he wrote the book of Revelation (um... that was him, right? I'm certainly not an expert on the Bible) And I find John's writing style easy to understand.
Thanks for the website link. I will check it out!
