3  Welcome / About You! / Re: Ministry on: January 13, 2009, 10:10:05 AM
Hello, fellow believers in Christ. I'd like to say that since I'm new to this community please feel free to talk to me anytime. I have been a Christian for almost 30 years, and I've been in ministry for almost 26 of those years. Recently, God has been dealing strongly with me about pastoring, and I've already told the Lord that gladly would I do it. I sure could use the prayer help of all of God's people in this very important matter. Thanks so much.
Welcome. the prayers are with you.

5  Welcome / About You! / Re: Hello. on: January 13, 2009, 10:04:49 AM
Hello to everyone, just thought I would give a brief introduction to myself, I'm from Northern Ireland and am as old as my gums and slightly older than my teeth, I suppose if you want to label me I am a Bible believing Christian and that means all of it I don't quote from it to suit any agenda that is popular or unpopular, that I like or don't if it's there it is there for a reason.
I'm not long saved I know very little about anything but am willing to learn as long as I can square it with scriptures as given by God and not any manmade extras.
I would recommend the website I have in my profile only because the man David Legge tells everyone not to believe him but to check in the Bible for themselves.
Having said all this I think I can confidently put this quote in as being true of myself. Welcome its all good.

Romans 3:10-18 NIV

10As it is written:
   "There is no one righteous, not even one;
       11there is no one who understands,
      no one who seeks God.
    12All have turned away,
      they have together become worthless;
   there is no one who does good,
      not even one."[a]
    13"Their throats are open graves;
      their tongues practice deceit."
   "The poison of vipers is on their lips."[c]
       14"Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness."[d]
    15"Their feet are swift to shed blood;
       16ruin and misery mark their ways,
    17and the way of peace they do not know."[e]
       18"There is no fear of God before their eyes."[f]

Footnotes:

Romans 3:12 Psalms 14:1-3; 53:1-3; Eccles. 7:20
Romans 3:13 Psalm 5:9
Romans 3:13 Psalm 140:3
Romans 3:14 Psalm 10:7
Romans 3:17 Isaiah 59:7,8
Romans 3:18 Psalm 36:1

And I said it would be brief?, just goes to show that God's word is true, my tongue practices deceit.

7  Fellowship / What are you doing? / Re: Preaching the word. on: December 31, 2008, 06:50:13 PM
Praying, that I do a lot of, but I understand were you are coming from and Thank You. As far as the money I am retired and God has taken care of that, the only request I have is to buy me hot dog once a month and being able to preach his word is good enough.
8  Theology / Debate / Re: Once Saved Always Saved??? on: December 31, 2008, 06:32:58 PM
When God came into my heart and saved me, he saved my life. Now knowing all that I do about God and all the blessing in my life time I like were I am, save and will always be.
9  Theology / Debate / Re: Tithing - Top 10 reasons I don't on: December 31, 2008, 03:57:27 PM
Tithing has being on my heart for sometime and you folks here might have answer a few questions for me. Tell me if I am wrong, of course I have being praying about this as well. I am looking at taking my tithing and put it back into my ministry in which I am an Evangelist. I travel preach the word as well sing, some church's give me an love offered but not all, therefor I have to pay it all out of my pocket in which God bless me with that. So would I be wrong if I was to use my tithing in my own ministry? The last two church's that I was involved in I feel like have missed used the tithing and not put it were it should have being going to. I am looking at doing a lot more for my ministry but in doing so I have to have the funds, and there is only two ways to get it: 1 Ask, Seek, Knock.  2. Tithing
10  Theology / Debate / Re: Rick Warren and his 40 days of Perpose on: December 31, 2008, 03:30:37 PM
I want to see how many times he mention the name of Jesus when he does his thing with the new Presdent of the US.
11  Theology / Debate / Re: what denomination are you? on: December 31, 2008, 03:13:47 PM
My family were all Baptist and so was I untill God called me to Preach, and then I had to leave the church so I could preach his word.
Now I am just a child of the king, a solider in his Army going into this world and telling folks what Jesus has done for me.
12  Fellowship / What are you doing? / Preaching the word. on: December 31, 2008, 02:35:06 PM
God called me to preach in 2005 at the ripe old age of  53, And I love to go were ever God leads me to preach his word and see people saved. I don't get a lot of calls and sometimes it does hurt. But I hold my head high and keep my eyes on God cause he comes through and open's doors for me.
So if you folks know of anyone that would like to have an Evangelist to come to their Church and tell his story of how God saved me from four death beds and showed me a little bit of Heaven and how I did not want to come back to this sad world please email me. Please Hurry I am getting older and I am not sure on which is going to happen first The Rapture or God taking taking me home the old fashion way. I for got, I also sing the old fashion songs sorry I am just an old fashion Preacher.
13  Fellowship / What are you doing? / Re: House Church with a Global Reach on: December 31, 2008, 02:18:05 PM
Greetings,

My name is Don Parris, and I hail from Charlotte, NC, where I'm planting a church.  We're presently just a house church, but have had a global impact for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.  Aside from collecting clothes for villagers in Liberia and a vision for a strong educational minsitry in the future, we have a tremendous computer ministry that has excited many Christians in the Information Technology industry.

Two important articles appeared on IT media websites last week, which has brought nearly 2000 visitors to our site and that of The Freely Project.  Our site offers free information about IT as ministry, and I am interested in engaging fellow believers in dialogue regarding the theological implications of information technology, especially as it relates to the software that runs many of our ministries.

Based on what I've learned from believing IT pros who've responded to the articles, the Church needs to look more closely at IT as ministry.  Below are a few points that I think are relevant and important:
<>The Church is largely an end-user of information technology, but has general failed to grasp the significance of IT as a ministry in and of itself.  At one point in time, the Church was at the cutting edge of knowledge and education.  It is time to reclaim our heritage.

<>IT professionals often work in an atmosphere of folks who are atheistic, and sometimes even hostile toward believers.  These folks need encouragement, prayer, and to be affirmed in their ministries.

<>Churches often fail to find professionals experiences with a broad range of operating systems and applications, and thus miss out on the natural blessings of good stewardship, and the ability to help others.

So I guess one might say that our IT ministry is somewhat focused on IT Pros and church leaders.  Let the dialogue begin! Cheesy

God bless,
Don
If you need a Evangelist to preach sometime I will be glad to help you out, I am about 60 miles from you.

15  Fellowship / What are you doing? / Re: Philippines Ministry on: December 31, 2008, 01:46:19 PM
When I was in the service I was sent to the Philippines and I saw just how the people live. I was shock to see the kids there going with out food and water.  One day I would like to be able to go back  and stay for a short time and to help in any way that I can. I am not so sure just how you go about going to the Philippines and I know that you can give me some information on this. Oh knows maybe God will make a way for me to come and visit you and help you get started on a school or what ever the Lords leads. Until then I will keep you in my prayers.
