Does anyone know the story behind Mercy Me's song Homesick. I had heard that a band member died and did not want i can only imagine sang at his funeral so they wrote Homesick? Anyone know if this is a true story?

I am hoping somebody can help me with this. I heard a song on the radio awile back and it  was a very good son. The artist was male i know that much, there is also a verse about a woman who is crying because she has to drive to chuch alone without her husband soemthing like that. Sadly thats all i  can remember. I am hoping this song touched someone like it did me and they will know what i am talking about.
