In direct answer to the question - The traditional jewish sabbath is from sunset Friday evening to sunset Saturday evening with Thursday being preperation day (the cooking of food that you'll need to eat during the sabbath, etc.)

Hello Debp - I've not heard of them no. It sounds like an interesting organization. I hope they're doing some good down in LA. That place could certainly use it

You'd really rather have Bush attempt more foreign dimplomacy? He's proven himself an utter failure at it.
I understand the beef concerning a congressman stepping a bit out of line and Brother Jerry raises valid points about whose money was spent on the voyage, but please, don't tell me you'd rather have Bush anywhere near the Middle East again.

Interesting developement. I don't think it's anything to worry about. What good is Venezuela and Iran's oil if they can't sell it to anyone?
Iran with it's rebellious nuclear program and Venezuela with it's imbecile dictator of a president need to understand that sanctions could come really quick if they don't calm down. We'll see how bold they become when the world stops buying their oil.

I've lived in China for almost 5 years and, as you may or may not know, religion is strictly monitored and controlled here. What amazes me is that Christianity is actually on the rise here! State run churches are popping up and underground seminaries are also popping up in the countryside. Christianity hasn't, and probably won't, entered popular culture here but in the face of government persecution it's nice to see the Word being spoken here.
Helping those in thirld world countries and the middle east is a nice idea in theory but, as an individual, I just don't how one could make much of a difference. It will take organizations getting into godless areas to make things work. Organizations that are protected and influential.
At the same time I think most on the planet know the name of Christ. I think what's lacking is direction on how to attain salvation and, while sad and somewhat discouraging, may one day change. One can only hope. And pray.

I agree about the erosion of morality in the States. It's sad and, unfortunately, I don't think a major reversal of the situation is likely.
Flip on the television for a sample of what consitutes the average American's culture and realize it's an aboslute waste. Kids spend hours in front of their TV, which would be fine if they learned how to be moral from the shows they watch, but they don't! They're simply wasting their time with the powerful diversion that Satan created in the television.
The State of the U.S. just emboldens my hatred of Satan even more. To see what he's reduced the world to makes me very angry. And sad.

Hello all - Thought I'd introduce myself a little bit.
I'm an American currently living in Beijing as an English teacher. I've been a Christian since I was a young child and continue to foster my interest in Christian theology.
I've recently begun reading a little about Messianic Judiasm which has been interesting although I'm not planning on converting. That said - I think Christians might benefit from understanding more the Hebraic roots of our religion.
At any rate - I look forward to a lot of encouraging discussion here!
All the best
