1  Theology / General Theology / Re:"Don't tell anyone..." on: July 30, 2003, 09:50:20 PM
I had thought it was because He did not want to be overwhelmed with the crowding of people, as was in the case where He told a man to not tell anyone and the man did, then Jesus could not enter the next town and had to teach from out in a boat. His popularity and saftey were an issue. It could also have something to do with Jesus wanting people to have faith in God from word of mouth of the good news, as opposed to seeing miracles performed being a way of faith? Very good question!
2  Theology / General Theology / Only through Jesus to get to God? on: July 30, 2003, 08:28:30 PM
I was recently reading literature that had the quote, "No one comes to the Father except through me". And I have, for a long time, believed this to be true. And the basis for a true Christian faith. Simply said you must have faith in Christ and believe in His existance {death, resurection, alive today}, and you cannot get to God, Heaven, Afterlife, without going through Jesus first.

But my Mother heard me saying this, and challenged me. She said "Oh really? Show me where this is stated in the Bible!

Now I am dumbfounded and cannot find this passage!
I had thought around John 14:16 or something. The whole of the passage went something like this:

Jesus speaking - red letter;
"I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me".

Please help me prove my Mother wrong or at least find my mistake!!! Help Help  Huh
