1  Theology / General Theology / Re: Can anyone explain the reference to the name ‘Jalon in the Bible’? on: September 21, 2006, 01:11:53 PM
Hi airIam2worship

Thank for all the information you have provided regarding the name Jalon and its possible origin.  As mentioned to Pastor Roger, it looks like this name is from the Old Testament but that too, no relation to Moses and Aron and most definitely has no bearings on the wounds of Christ and is therefore quite possibly Jewish.

Thanks for Moses' mothers and fathers name.  I think Pastor Roger beat you to it by a few minutes!  Roll Eyes

Dear Pastor Roger

Thank you Pastor Roger.

I will ask my family member how they came across the name Jalon and subsequently, that it means/represents the five wounds of Jesus Christ.  Clearly, you are a Christian Gold member for the World Christian Unite site and have an in depth understanding of the Bible both Old and New Testament.  I can only gather from the information you have written and researched thus far that the name Jalon, is indeed from the Old Testament and has no bearing to the wounds of Christ and is therefore not mentioned in the New Testament.

I too have been researching and contacting various people of the Christian faith and none of the resources I have pursued, have any knowledge of Jalon in the New Testament or of representing the wounds of Jesus Christ.

Thank you for your time and the information provided.

Hi airIam2worship

Thank for welcoming me and getting back to me.  I appreciate that you are not a theology expert but I was looking for help from anybody who came across this name and its origin.

Thanks for the research provided.  I had searched the Christian Unite website for the same and had come across 1 Chronicles 4, Verse 17, that you have also listed but was unclear what it meant and I failed to understand the significance of Ezra?!  In that, who she was?

Thank you for throwing some light on the same.  However, if the Miriam mentioned in this verse is not the sister of Moses and Aaron, does this mean that this Miriam and therefore Jalon, is not from the Old Testament?

Please help if you can.

Please see my posting to Pastor Roger regarding this too.  Thanks.

Hi Pastor Roger

Thank you too for welcoming me and throwing some light on the name and its possible origin.   But from the response I have got thus far, I am beginning to think  that ‘Jalon’ may quite possibly be a name from the Old Testament?  Will I be right in thinking that….if so, could the name be of Jewish origin?

Please help if you can.

We are of Catholic faith and a member of my family plans to call their new born Jalon as they think this name originated from the wounds of Christ and from the New Testament.

Dear All,

I have come across the name Jalon and am trying to research the reference to this name in the Bible.   Also, is it from the ‘Old Testament’ or the ‘New Testament’?

So far I have come across a couple of theories; one being that, Jalon is from the New Testament and the name represents the five wounds of Jesus Christ.   The other is that, Jalon was the forth son of Ezra (or Ezrah) and is from the Old Testament.

I am looking for any background information to this name and its origin.  Any help with reference sources that I could look up would be really handy too.

Any theology experts around?  Please help!

Hope to hear back from you soon.  Thanks.
