Thank you but if you have nothing of your own writing, I appreciate you please stop just quoting the Word of God.
Blessings!
The question you asked requires the answer come of the Bible...not of "our own writings".

Keep quoting

PhilKosba,
The WORD OF GOD will never be discouraged here. It will remain as the ultimate source for knowledge, instruction, and answers. Quotes from the Holy Bible are the ultimate answer and are MOST welcome here.
Love In Christ, Tom
Posted by: DreamWeaver Posted on: September 27, 2004, 01:01:08 AM That is the only way to answer the question. This being a Christian fourm, The Bible is completely, the only book with the answers.
Go in peace with God. DW
Dear contributors... great comments! I very well know that 'Bible has all answers'... but quoting pages of verses will NOT solve the problem. Anyone who has a concordence can do it. But what I asked for is an explanation in your own words based on verses.... I thought you could understand it! Acts 8 - Philip and the Ethiopian
30Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. "Do you understand what you are reading?" Philip asked. 31"How can I," he said, "unless someone explains it to me?" So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
34The eunuch asked Philip, "Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?" Do you think Philip could not quote hundreds of verses from the prophets to the Ethiopian eunuch? It needs humility to be a Christian! Do not mock at the one who asks if you don't know the answer; but better keep quite. God bless you. .

Matthew 14:28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? 32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. 33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
There are several lessons to be learned from this instance (passage).
Here, it is written, Peter beginning to sink; means, Peter ‘began’ to sink. If you put anything heavy in water, it just sinks, right? This shows about his faith in the Lord Jesus which is confirmed by the Lord's asking Peter, “O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?”
If you carefully read, you will notice Peter’s asking, in verse 28, “Lord, if it be thou, bid me come”. Here Peter’s “look” was on the Lord Jesus. And the Lord told him to “Come”. This word from the Lord gave Peter FAITH to walk on water, and he walked!
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Rom. 10:17)
But, soon Peter changed his look from the Lord Jesus to “the wind boisterous”. So, he lost his vision, he was afraid, and he began to sink; first in his faith, then in water.
Bible says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish:” (Prov. 29:18)
A born again child of God is not supposed to look at the circumstances around him and live, but look at Jesus.
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;” (Heb. 12:2)
When tests and trials come, many children of God look at their circumstance and say, ‘oh, its impossible’, ‘I am tired’, ‘I am sick and will die’, etc. We are not supposed to say so.
“every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses.” (Mat. 18:16) We have God’s Word saying “all things are possible with God”, we are "healed by His stripes”, etc. If we join with the God’s Promises, we bring life, blessings, healing, into our lives. But if we join with Satan’s negative words, we bring curses, sickness, death, etc. The choice is ours! So, mind your words!!
The Lord Jesus was not shouting at Peter for his lack of faith (by looking into the circumstances), but was comforting him, like a dad or mom telling a small kid, Oh dear, why did you get afraid? We need to be loving and caring.
This instance (and Mark 4:41) happened also for a fulfillment of a prophecy about the Lord Jesus in Psalm 107:29- “He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.”
And this helped the disciples in the boat to understand the Lord more as 'the Son of God' and helped them worship Him.
If you read again and gain, you get more Scriptural revelations from the Word.

Jesus is DIRECTLY called God:Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. (Matthew 1:23) He is called God by God the Father:But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. (Hebrew 1: He is called God by John:In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1; the Word refers to Jesus -v.14) And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. (1 John 5:20) He is called God by Thomas:And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. (John 20:28) If Thomas erred so seriously in addressing Lord Jesus as God, why was there no correction by Jesus? And why did Lord Jesus commend his faith?Lord Jesus refers to Himself as God:I and my Father are one. (John 10:30) (Note the reaction of Jews:- The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. (John 10:33) (Lord Jesus said) But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. (Jon 10:38) he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; (John 14:9) He is called God by the writer of Hebrews: Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, (1:3) He is called God by Apostle Paul: Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. (Luke quoted Paul; Acts 20:28) Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God[/b]: (Phil. 2:6) Who is the image of the invisible God, (Col. 1:15) Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; (Titus 2:13) Etc., etc. The Lord Jesus claimed and exercised the Prerogatives of God. He had the rights of God, and did the works of God. Forgives sins Raises the dead Controls natures Judges motives Receives worship Sends the Holy Spirit Creates Sustains He is the only Judge He is to receive equal honour with the Father The only Saviour He grants eternal life He answers prayer Etc., etc. The Lord Jesus Christ fulfills Old Testament Scriptures which apply to Jehovah God: CreatorJehovah is Creator - Isa.44:24 Jesus is Creator - John 1:3 First and LastJehovah is the First and the Last - Isa. 42.8 Jesus is the First and the Last - Rev.1:8, 17, 18. Highest glory ForgiverJehovah alone can forgive sin - Isa 43.:25 Jesus forgives sin - Mark 2:7-10 Holy OneJehovah is the Holy One - Isa. 43:3 Jesus is the Holy One - Acts. 3:14 The One comingJehovah is coming with His reward - Isa. 40:10 Jesus is coming with His reward - Rev. 22:12 ShepherdJehovah is the Shepherd - Psa. 23:1 Jesus is the Shepherd - John 10 KingJehovah is King - Zech. 14:9 Jesus is King - Rev. 19:16 I AmJehovah is the I Am - Exo. 3:14 Jesus is the I Am - John 8:58, 59 One GodJehovah is the only true God - Isa. 43:10 Jesus is the true God - 1 John 5:20 The only SaviourJehovah is the only Saviour - Isa. 43:11 Jesus is the only Saviour - Mat. 1:21 The Light of New JerusalemJehovah is the Light of New Jerusalem - Isa. 60:19 Jesus is the Light of New Jerusalem - Rev. 21:23 The One Who cleanses sinJehovah is the One Who cleanses sin - Isa. 43:25 Jesus is the One Who cleanses sin - 1 John 1:7 The RockJehovah is the Rock - Deut. 32:4 Jesus is the Rock - 1 Pet. 2:6-8 The Judge of the earthJehovah is the Judge of the earth - Gen. 18:25 Jesus is the Judge of the earth - 2 Cor. 5:10 Etc., etc. Why then the Lord Jesus prayed? He prayed because He was a man. Keep in mind that in the Incarnation, Jesus was 100 percent God and 100 percent man. As a man, it is good and proper that he pray. Jesus IS God, Jesus is Jehovah - the God Who became man because of His amazing love to us. It needs grace and humility for some to believe this truth and I pray may the Lord grant them His amazing grace to believe. I praise the Lord for those who found grace to believe. It is not easy for human brain to comprehend what Trinity is. Though it is not directly mentioned in the Bible, it is given at several places. The heathen King Nebuchadnezzar said it, in Daniel 2:47, but Christians cannot believe it. An example I have heard is this: Take some water and heat it. It becomes steam. Cool the steam, it becomes water. Freeze the water, it becomes ice. If we warm the ice, it becomes water again. WATER, ICE and STEAM are three different things, but one. By calling the Lord Jesus Jehovah, I am not denying the fact that the Father is Jehovah and that the Holy Spirit is Jehovah. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are together the Eternal Jehovah God, as the scripture clearly teach. The evidence for the deity of Lord Jesus is conclusive. Those who deny it, dishonor the Father (John 5:23) and face eternal tragedy (John 8:24). He who has an ear, let him hear (Rev. 2:7)

Theology / Apologetics / "It is finished"
|
on: January 28, 2004, 04:05:24 PM

.
In the OT, the manifest presence of God was present in the Holy of Holies in the Tabernacle. It was in the form of Shekkina Glory; in between the archangels in the Arch of the Covenants. Once a year, one time, one man, the high priest, only could go and get himself exposed to that Shekkina Glory.
When the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross, He said, It is finished. At that time, the veil of the temple in the Holy of Holies got torn from top to bottom. Because of this, the Shekkina Glory departed from that place.
We can do a comparative study of our body, soul and spirit to that of the three parts of the tabernacle; the Outer Core, the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies, respectively.
The very same Shekkina Glory that was present in the Holy of Holies, in the tabernacle, that departed from there when the Lord died, comes inside our human spirit, when we are born again, accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. That is the Holy of Holies we have, hence, our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own; you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? If any one destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and that temple you are. (1 Cor. 6:19~20; 3:16~17)
Blessings in the Lord!

Also read the Book of Daniel in the OT, especially Chapter 9(?)
There is a big book full of drawings on these subjects by Rev. Clarence Larkin: THE DISPENDATIONAL TRUTH; also one by Dr. Henry M Morris: REVELATION RECORD, and Dake's Annotated Bible will also help you.

Theology / Apologetics / Authority
|
on: December 09, 2003, 09:02:34 AM
|
Dear Jabez
There is authority. God has authority over everything in this universe because He created everything. A bishop/elder has authority over his diocese, a pastor/priest has authority over his parish, a father has authority over his family, a husband has authority over his wife, a company owner/boss has authority over his staff. There are political authority and authority in the spiritual realm.
But now, ALL authority in heaven and on earth is been given to Lord Jesus Christ. Hence He has given us (all those who believe, including you and me) the Great Commission with this authority of His Name, 'the Name above all names', to go and make disciples of all nations. This command of the King is still valid, and will be valid until He comes back to take us home to be with Him always.
A brother in another thread asked why Jesus asked His disciples to wait in Jerusalem based Luke 24:49. It is a good question. A brother answered to read Acts 1:1-9.
Look at all professional workers, they all have uniforms. A doctor has a uniform, a nurse has a uniform, an engineer has a uniform, etc. The greatest of all jobs is Evangelism. It is the most highly paid job in the whole world. We, the children of God, the believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, also need to wear uniforms before we get into Lords work. That is the reason why the Lord Jesus commanded His disciples to tarry in Jerusalem, until they receive their uniform. Read carefully the verse in Luke 24:49 - "And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you;
-but stay in the city, until you are clothed with power from on high." (RSV) -but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. (KJV)
As far as I have studied, there are two major Greek words used here, katisathe and dunamis. In essence, this verse means, "sit tight (don't get up), until you receive the uniform (which is miraculous power)". Also read Acts 1:8 here. Without this you can not be His witness.
Suppose an athlete finished first in a race in the Olympic games but did not get the medal (was disqualified) because he changed his track by mistake. We are all runners in the Christian race. We need to finish our race and get the rewards. What if you will be denied your reward on your judgment day because you ran in wrong track? What if you don't get the right reward after doing a lot of great works for the Lord because you did not wear proper uniform? Will you be able to come back to earth and do it again? Live today as if you stand before God tomorrow.
Anointing of the Holy Spirit is what you need Jabez. Don't get satisfied thinking that you have received the baptism in the Holy Spirit when you accepted Jesus. Anointing does unusual things. That is your authority from above. Some have grasshopper mentality and others are like the old fox that said the grapes are sour. Don't listen to their verbal acrobatism. They know a lot of 'information' from the Word but that will only discourage you. Speak encouraging and gracious words, seasoned with salt. The sign of the age is lack of the 'fear of God'.
Both the Names, Messiah and Christ, mean the Anointed One. This comes from Chrism/Chrio which means "to smear or rub with oil". Oil stands for the Holy Spirit. God rubs His power on us which we lack in our Christian life and our ministry. That is the anointing. Anointing breaks the yoke. Like the Psalmist, we need fresh anointing everyday with new oil.
The disciples had to wait/tarry because the Holy Spirit had not come at that time. But now, it is not the situation. He is already here, since the day of Pentecost (making up the Bride, until the Groom comes and calls her home). Now is the dispensation of the Holy Spirit. Ezekiel 47:5b "--and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over."
What you need is thirst to drink. "--how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?" (Luke 11:13b) Ask, the Mighty Baptizer will fill you. And you will drink and will overflow. Rivers of living water will gush out of your innermost being, your koilia, and you will speak in tongues. Jabez, I see great zeal in you for the Lords work. I have watched your growth from the first thread to this one. GO for it, and RECEIVE it. Then, "Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee."
All the gifts of the Holy Spirit are still in operation. They are not ceased yet. When there will be no more works to do(?), then the gifts will be ceased. Think about 'Uzzah'. In our eyes, he did the right thing, touching the ark 'in an attempt to prevent it from falling off the cart'. But God's wrath fell upon him and he instantly died. David was stunned and upset by God's anger. To please God, we must do His work His way. So never say, I don't want this gift or that because some people misuse it. It can grieve the Holy Spirit. And it could be a dangerous play because it is in Him we are sealed for the day of redemption. God instituted them for the success of His workers. Because the whole world is in the power of the evil one.
"In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." (John 16:33b; 2 Tim 3:12, etc.) Tribulation and chastening are there. Sickness and bondage are there. They are in the menu. But praise God, divine healing and deliverance are also here for those who believe in it. Several times I have experienced divine healing and I enjoy it. I believe what Bro. Timothy wrote above about his grandma's healing from leukemia. Jesus came to do the Will of His Father and the Will of His Father is that we be healed. Jesus healed all those who came to him. [Actually hospitals must be closed and sick should be healed in the church, by pastors and priests by laying hands on them, giving all glory, praise and honor to the Lord Jesus.] The Lord is Jehovah Raafa, the Lord that healeth thee. He is the Deliverer. Many people think the miracles have finished by deaths of the apostles. No. My God is a God of miracles, His Name is Wonderful, He never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. A person when accepts Jesus, he is being delivered from the bondage of Satan. This is the initial deliverance (the Truth setting us free). Many people come to the Lord through miraculous healing and deliverance.
You are correct regarding John 14:12. You will do first the work the Lord did, and then, greater works because the Lord said, "the Father is greater than I". (14:28b) and He is interceding for us at the right-hand side of the Father. But you need the anointing.
Love must be above all. Take out the word "love" from the five verses (4~8) of the Love Chapter and replace it with your name, and see how it works in your life. Go for practical Christianity Jabez. Don't look at men, all will have to give account one day for what they say and do. Look at the Lord Jesus, Who is the Author and Finisher of faith and do your calling. But when you become a great servant of the Lord, always remember, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.'" (Luke 17:10)
The Lord's call is still on, Is anyone thirsty? He, who has an ear, let him hear!
All glory to my Lord Jesus! Blessings in the Lord!

Why do I believe in God?
BECAUSE, God is –
My Creator My Redeemer My Father My Sustainer My Provider My Healer My Bread My Teacher My Guide My Counselor My King My Master My Saviour, My LORD Jesus Christ, my Everything! The One Who died for me in my stead to take my away sins and iniquities to take me home!
Why do YOU, Angie, believe in God (or, do you not believe in God)?

As far as I know, Christians celebrate Good Friday as the day Christ died and was buried. And they celebrate Easter on Sunday as the day Christ was raised from the dead. So in the ordinary case, people count Friday, Saturday and Sunday as 3 days.
But I would like to know where in the Word of God is it written that Jesus died on Friday. Please explain "Scripturally".

According to Jewish calendar, how exactly will the “Three days and Three nights”, of Jesus’ death to resurrection, be in English (our) calendar?
Are not Christians actually making the Lord Jesus a liar by celebrating Good Friday according to what He said in Matthew 12:40 “For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”???
