Two questions:

  1.  It sounds as if you believe all Christains should be poor or, at least, that it is more spiritual to be poor than rich.  Is that correct?  Doesn't it take money to support missions, Christian schools, churches, pro-life, etc?

  2.  The Law is God's standard of righteousness.  Do you believe the law no longer applies?  Are we free to live in sin?  Granted, both Jesus and Paul attacked the law when misused as a method of salvation - we stand by grace alone.  But does that do away with the Law as God's standard of righteousness which the Holy Spirit is working in our lives?  God cared how people lived in the Old Testament but not the New?

   True, the bodies of the legally slaughtered unborn innocents don't even get graves.

   Although your view is the popular one today, there are many rational, thinking people who would disagree.  I’m sure you will correct me if I am wrong but, although pre-millenniumism has a long and respected history, the branch of pre-millenniumism you present has only been taught for the last 100 years or so.  So your statement wipes out the majority of Christian thinkers of the last 2,000 years.  I have nothing against people making dogmatic statements - I make them myself - but we have to realize in the arena of Bible Prophecy that there are intelligent, Bible-believing Christians who are going to disagree.

         Peter was apparently unaware that the entire book of Joel was all about the Great Tribulation as he quoted from it in Acts 2 [including the part about the sun being turned into darkness, moon into blood, and the Day of Lord] and told his listeners that it was then being fulfilled.  Jesus also on the way to the cross in Luke 23 quoted Joel as He told the weeping women they needed to be very concerned about what they would face.

I get the impression from this post that only things which glorify God are "spiritual" things, i.e. Bible reading, prayer, Bible games...   Jesus went a lot of places and did a lot of things which would be frowned on by Western Christians.  The important points are a] is such activity sin? [lying, cheating, lusting, etc].  If the answer is yes then it must be avoided.  If the answer is no then we move to b] does it violate a person's conscious.  If a person cannot do an activity, which is not clearly defined as sin, with a clear conscious then for them it is sin but that doesn't necessarily mean it is sin for everyone else.  For example, God may tell someone who has a problem with overeating to cut out sweets but that doesn't mean it is wrong for someone else.  We have to be careful in how we judge.  There are things which are sinful in and of themselves.  But many are things are not sin and can be an enjoyable part of life.  God gives us richly all things to enjoy.

   Just a thought...

     While I agree that the above verse can have applications to the ungodly, the context is Jesus standing outside the door of the church.  His own people had become so "lukewarm" and compromised that He wonders if they are able to hear His voice anymore.  He is rebuking His own people and challenging them to return to commitment and relationship.  Those who hear His voice can have renewed relationship, those who don't will continue on in ultimately useless [as far the as the Kingdom of God is concerned] lives.

Just some thoughts...

      Yes, sickness and death are a result of sin entering the world through Adam but that doesn't answer the question of why a particular person is sick - especially if that person is a Christian and therefore redeemed from the curse of sin.  I think we need to keep several things in mind.

      1.  We are not to be condemned or guilty because we are sick.  I believe in healing but there are many factors involved and the fact is God does not heal everyone.  [My own son has type I diabetes].

      2.  God is in total control.  Nothing can come into the life of a Christian without God's specific permission.  That doesn't mean things are always pleasant or work out the way we would like them.  Ask Job, Joseph, Peter, and millions of Christians down through the ages.

      3.  God is love and God is good.  Everything He allows into our life is ultimately for our good.  This is hard to understand durning times of death of a loved one, serious health problems, persecution, etc.  We cannot understand it, only take it by faith.

        How to answer unbelievers?  Be honest.  "I don't know the why but I do know God.  He is loving in control even when my emotions and circumstances are crying out just the opposite." Sometimes that is all we can hold onto.  But if we will hold on, God will take through.  We need to remember that God is looking at developing us for eternity.  We see only 10 years, or 90 years of life, which isn't even a blip on the screen of eternity.  If handled rightly, wherever God allows in this life will build us for eternity.

      Reading the Psalms can be a great comfort.  Psalm 23 is specially meaningful if you realize David wrote it when he was afraid for life.  He thought he was going to be dead the next morning yet he wrote, "The Lord is my shepherd..."
