Welcome / About You! / Hello, Again!

Hello Everyone, TalkerCat here! I've been gone a long time and wonder if there's anyone who remembers me? I became a member in 2003 and stayed active for a number of years. Unfortunately, my health took a turn for the worse and I was admitted to a nursing home for over a year. Most of these last 5 years I've spent recovering from catastrophe. I'm glad to find you again and hope to develop new friendships. I'm on Facebook (Terri Annette Medina)

I'm so blessed to see some old friends and look forward to meeting new ones. I hope to see Brother John and Sister Maria soon. I've never forgotten the support I received here, during a turbulent period in life. I'm feeling quite content now, where the Lord had planted me and in His will I will thrive and continue to spread The Good News ~
Serving an Awesome God!

Fellowship / You name it!! / Re: What does your Bible look like?

I have several Bibles .... the oldest is one I won for perfect Sunday attendance back in - dare I say - 1971! It's a large, beautiful 'family' Bible with a gold leaf cover ~ well worn. My every-day Bible is a NKJV (large print ) and while it's only about five years old, it's spine is cracked and the cover dog-eared from contantly being opened! Some pages are torn and almost all have highlighted scripture that I don't want to forget. This gift from my pastor is sentimentally priceless so I won't be giving it up any time soon. There is a brand-new-still-in-the-cellophane NKJV that I'm saving to donate as a fund raiser. Every summer my church has a "kids camp" and every year there's a child that can't afford to go - so the women's ministry has bake sales and yard sales to raise money for them. I have several "Gideon" Bibles to give away. (No, I'm not a Gideon but I admire their works for the Lord) and finally A KJV gifted to me by my Uncle who has since passed away - what a wonderful influence this man was in my life ..... ( sniff) WOW! since taking an inventory I have more Bibles than I knew! =^..^=

Dear Seventh Day ~
I voted "yes" to your poll because I believe that Christians (regardless of demonination) that are 'saved' go to Heaven.

Theology / Debate / Re: Which day do you think is the sabbath and why?
|
on: September 22, 2007, 06:30:18 PM

Labor six days and rest on the seventh...... Says to me that ANY day can be celebrated as the sabbath, as long as we observe the seventh day as holy ..... just shootin' from the hip.... No one's right or wrong to celebrate on Saturday, Sunday or even Wednesday for that matter..... hear what I'm saying? If we stop work for one day a week to worship and praise God, fellowship with our brethren and read the word, what difference does a label on the calendar make? Is there anywhere in the Bible where God outlines a "calendar" or did He just say "rest on the seventh day"? JMHO =^..^=

Entertainment / Poetry/Prose / THE COLD WITHIN
|
on: September 18, 2007, 11:24:42 AM
|
Six humans trapped by happenstance, in bleak and bitter cold, Each one possessed a stick of wood, or so the story's told.
Their dying fire in need of logs, the first man held his back, For of the faces 'round the fire, he noticed one was black.
The next man looking 'cross the way, saw not one of his church, And couldn't bring himself to give the fire his stick of birch.
The third one sat in tattered clothes, he gave his coat a hitch, Why should his log be put to use to warm the idle rich?
The rich man just sat back and thought of the wealth he had in store, And how to keep what he had earned from the lazy, shiftless poor.
The black man's face bespoke revenge as the fire passed from sight, For all he saw in his stick of wood was a chance to spite the white.
The last man of the forlorn group did naught except for gain, Giving only to those who gave, was how he played the game.
Their logs held tight in death's still hands, was proof of human sin, They didn't die from the cold without, they died from the cold within.

Dear PR,
I hope that what I hear you saying is that once I'm gone from here, I am with the Lord and my soul won't be having coffee with a psychic?
I know the Lord tells us to ignore these "seers" and I do ignore them I just wondered where and how they justify there "abilities" when we're sitting next the the Lord, and not hanging out down here!
Luv U Brother!

Fellowship / Testimonies / Re: Is It OK To Leave The Church?
|
on: September 18, 2007, 11:00:43 AM

This is an old thread but prayers are answered in God's time so here we are back again.
My Pastor hit "bottom" when people started to leave his congregation, then his dear wife got breast cancer. When I learned of his tribulation, I went back into the fold and have stayed. There is such a difference in Pastor Dave now! What a humble man of God he turned out to be! The congregation is growing again and we worship the LORD singing! His teachings are profound and backed up by the word of God Himself. Thankfully, Sister Jolene's breast cancer is in remission ~
Thank you Jesus! Praise the Lord! Bless Pastor Dave and Calvary Chapel!
