1  Theology / General Theology / empathetic gifting on: March 22, 2005, 06:02:30 PM
has anyone heard of such a gifting as this and is it biblical. I am just trying to find out as I have only recently heard of such a thing.  To be honest it scares me a bit because of several reasons, mostly that it is not anywhere in my bible unless, it is just words I am stubbling over.
the person who said to me they had this gift claims to "feel" others from as far away and a 100 miles.
I am not on a witch hunt and I hope no one makes it so. Just asking if anyone has anything information on it. Thank you in advance and God bless....
I will not add my thoughts till I hear from you guys thx again

Can I vent about my father? I have just realized that I am always uneasy around him. He has always been like a keg of dynamite just waiting to go off. As a child I always felt like I was walking on egg schells around him. Still love him, but I honestly don't feel like I can connect with him. The one thing I want to connect with is always hit and miss. That would be the gospel. He will ask, but then will tear it all down. This really come to light the last couple of weeks. My mom just had her fourth stroke and we almost lost her last Mon. She went into cardiac arrest. I don't mind sitting with my mom, but my dad is a none stop talker and he is always tearing down. He blames the dr. the nurses, everyone. And that is just his way. Sometimes I feel like I don't ever want to see him again. But alas he is my father. And if you think this is a recent problem, it is not. He is 76 and I am 49. He bad mouths my sister, who has been doing a saintly job of taking care of my mom, and he has almost always bad mouthed my brother. I hate hearing it.
And why I am at it I have a son in Baghdad who I anxiously want to get home in one piece. There is more, but not today. This is nice to vent. I am not asking for advice or even prayer.
By the way it is joyous that God is God in all this. I trust and obey. I love the Lord with all might heart and I am not complaining, just venting.......... I am looking forward to His coming, I just hope I have the job done that He has for me to do before it is too late.  Love you all.        And God bless

This is just my opinion and as such I want you to make up your own mind. First it is his decision and only he can decide if it takes away from his relationship with the Lord. Second I really don't see a problem with it, as long as it does not entail bowing to a  flag or paying homage to something other than God.
I think it is really great cardio vascular excercise. And it keeps the muscles stretched and toned. I think it could even be healthy, as long as it does not take over his life.
And again, I stess this is just my opinion and not something I know for a fact....

Thanks for your response twobombs. It all seems quite feasible to me. These times that are coming will be quite interesting will it not?

Ollie, I fear not for myself. My salvation is sure, in Jesus. I do grieve for those who have not secured there future. I don't want my worst enemy to go to hell. But there will be those who don't make it. Who are indeed an enemy of the cross. And they are my enemy also. But I will not feel good about there demise......... Nor will God...........

Symphony, thanks for your reply. That last part put a picture in my mind that I did not have before. People as the commodity.  I bet our pre civil war slaves knew exactly how that feels..... Of course they are gone now.
The things that are before us. Whew eee. I am so glad God saved this wretched soul and set me free to worship Him. Praise His Holy Name.....

Hi twobombs, alway thought provoking when reading your posts.  I am going to go out on a limb here with at least part of your riddle.  Could the dragon be religion and the beast be the politcal system that we now have in place here in America? We do act quite arrogant. It is like an attitude of I can't be beat.
Anyway please give me your take on this.  I don't study this because it seems unimportant to me.  My job is to serve Jesus and trust God. And come out from among her and be seperate.  I can be obedient whether or not I understand.  God made it pretty simple.  I am sure I will enjoy your response, and feel free to correct me as this is only a possible senario that I posted. 8  Entertainment / Politics and Political Issues / Re:Can a Christian be a Democrat? on: November 05, 2003, 06:28:51 PM
I let one issue sway me on my vote once. It was the abortion issue. The first time Ronald Reagan ran for office. Eight years with him, four more with GW and it never got touched. It was just a campaign issue. Just because someone is a Republican does not mean they are going to do anything about it.
My faith is in the Lord God Almighty, not in a political party.

And once again Tibby, I liked what you said.

I can understand someone being prolife and for Capital punishment. However I am pro life also. And if we actually had a justice system instead of a legal system I would be for Capital punishment. But our system is to flawed for that. Sorry but that is how I feel. I also believe our government is spending a ton of money and  a lot of lives to try and fix something in Iraq that will not be fixed. I will quit right here, because I don't want to sound unpatriotic, but I can be a patriot and still not agree with a bunch of politicians that are presently leading this country.

Good answer Tibby, I can't think of a thing to add to it.

You may well ask, can a person be a Christian and a republican. Come on now, they are all politicians. I understand where you are coming from, it is much like my own views and searchings.  I struggle with it to, but there are no black and white answers for me, yet.
You would be better stated if you said you are a follower of Christ who happens to vote Democrat.
I try and vote for the man, Knowing full well the parties dictate what direction they take. Jimmy Carter is a born again christian and the moral majority run him out of office. That leads me to believe it is not about morals, but political agenda. Anyway that is my 2 cents......
11  Theology / General Theology / Re:Man AND Woman Deceived? on: November 04, 2003, 08:43:52 PM
I think the thing that bothers me deeply is Adam being listening to the whole conversation. He should have put a stop to it when the serpent starting talking to Eve.  On some level he must have desired to be his own god.  The good and evil both had the same root. It was human good and human evil.....
It is still a struggle we contend with daily. We want to do our own thing. The original sin has not changed. It has just broaden itself....... Enlarged it's borders. Our carnel man is still a very close brother to Adam's fallen nature.....
That's why we must crucify our flesh. Cut it off from all opportunity to sin. Just as Adam should have cut the serpent off... right at the source.
12  Fellowship / You name it!! / Re:Favorite Bible books, chapters and verses? on: October 23, 2003, 08:33:54 AM
The 37th Pslam. It is a great comfort..

Also like the book of James.

favorite verse - For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, That whosoever would believe on Him would have everlasting Life.
13  Theology / Apologetics / Re:3 days n 3 nights on: October 15, 2003, 08:49:31 AM
No it does not make Jesus a liar. It makes us wrong plain and simple........ The real question is --- Is it a big deal??? Smiley
14  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Easter on: October 07, 2003, 08:50:07 AM
Could it be that since the Son and the Father are one, that the thief on the cross was with Him in paradise "Today"? If the Father and The Son and The Holy Spirit are one then it would be appropriate for Jesus to say Today you will be with me in Paradise.

Also, how about a thousand years being as a day and a day being as a thousand years to the Lord?

One more thing, does time even exist in paradise or does time only exist here on earth?

These are all phrased as Questions and not doctrine so go gentily. It is just meant as more food for thought.... Smiley
15  Prayer / Answered Prayer / Re:YES!!!!! my son is out of iraq on: October 06, 2003, 07:36:57 AM
Praise the Lord. I am glad your son is back in the states. Just don't let up on your prayers. This place is only a safe haven for God only Knows how long..... Again Thank you Jesus. Smiley
