1  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re: Another 9/11 'on its way' on: September 12, 2006, 05:37:57 PM
I hate their deeds. I hate their words. I hate their ideaollogy... And yet strangely, at least from a human perspective, I cannot bring myself to hate the terrorists themselves. I feel sorry... Sorry that they have been deceived. They believe themselves to be worshiping the Lord, when their very religion was created by the king of lies himself. (Note that in many cults, particularly Islam and Mormonism, the 'new revelations' are revealed by what the founders describe as an "angel of Light". And what does the Bible say? That even SATAN DISGUISES HIMSELF as an angel of light!).

Whatever happens, I have faith that God will bring justice to the murderers, to those who would teach little ones, those God holds dear to His heart, the 'joys of martyrdom', while at the same time lacking even the courage to take their OWN lives.... And I pray that day comes soon.

Part I:

Quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
September 11, 2001...
The day when the world stood still and America held its collective breath. The day when the veil of our ignorance was ripped away and everything that we thought was true was proved a falsehood. The day that an enemy crept in and sucker punched us right in the face, not once, but four times.
The day when a group of ordinary people became Martyrs for their country by fighting to take control of their destiny. The day our nation mourned and celebrated all in the same breath. The day the smoke filled the air and fires burned, but no one gave up, no one quit, until the last survivor was pulled free from the wreckage.
The day that will live on in the hearts of Americans for all times. Even those too young to have understood will know who the real heroes are.
The day that America cried out in one clear, resounding voice...

"We are here! You have not beaten us! We will never run!"

- Robin Shahan
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thankyou, my sister, for those wonderful words. I believe that most all America echoes them.

Part II:
As we remember the tragedy that struck this country on September 11, 2001, I believe it also important for us all to take a look at what the Scriptures have to say. Following are selected passages from the book of Psalms, and the book of Proverbs.

"I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, oh Lord, make me dwell in safety... You are my hiding place; You will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance... He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God in whom I trust. Surely He will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His feathers and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and your rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. For He will command His angels concerning you, to guard you in all your ways... Then you will go your way in safety and your foot will not stumble. When you lie down, you will not be afraid. When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Have no fear of sudden disaster or the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared."

-Psalm 4:8; 32:7; 91:1-6, 11, Proverbs 3:23-26

It is an amazing promise, my friends, that even with the tragedy that took place on that day in 2001, when over 3,000 innocent men and women were viciously and savagely slaughtered by men whose only desire is to spread their twisted theocracy, even as we seek justice for our fallen friends and family, even as fighting continues around the globe, we need not fear, because we have an AMAZING refuge in the Lord.

I pray that you will be as encouraged by these Scriptures as I was.

I'm actually rather surprised that CAIR has not said anything about this... Unless you have heard something, Pastor Roger?
4  Entertainment / Politics and Political Issues / Re: ABC changes 9/11 show on: September 08, 2006, 10:30:32 PM
This is censorship at its worst, a MAJOR infringement on free speech by the lunatic left-wing fringe.

I listened to a chat between Sean Hannity and the writer of 'A Path to 9/11'. According to him, most of those making the demands had not even SEEN the whole of the broadcast... Only night one, which covered the Clinton Administration's MANY faliures... Night two focuses on the faliures of the Bush administration, but none of the critics have bothered to watch it...

It is sad when a threat to our constitution comes from within... Just because some people are offended by what they see... Very sad.
5  Entertainment / Laughter (Good Medicine) / THE ALL NEW: POINTLESS FACT(S) OF THE DAY!!! :) on: September 01, 2006, 03:38:58 PM
I wasn't sure where to put this, but I thought it would be fun. I borrowed this idea from a friend of mine on another Christian board, and I thought it would be fun to put these here... These are all facts, but most of 'em are just useless knowledge... My friend has a head for this kind of stuff soo... Here we go!

Without futher ado, I present:

POINTLESS FACT OF THE DAY FOR 9/1/06

The average city dog lives three years longer than the average country dog.

YEAH! More props for Homeschooling! It's about TIME for parents in this country, ESPECIALLY CHRISTIAN PARENTS, to take back the responsibility of educating and raising their own children instead of allowing a relativist government to do it for them! Were I not already out of the system, I would take up the battle cry myself!

I thank GOD that homosexual relationships are not legally recognized in this state!

SCHWARZENEGGER SQUASHES RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
Thomasson: “Arnold Schwarzenegger has two faces. He speaks at churches and says he believes in religious freedom and family values, yet he’s stabbing pro-family Californians in the back.”

RESPOND NOW: Call Governor Schwarzenegger's office to express how appalled and angry you are for him attacking religion, and what his signing SB 1441 means to you as a voter

Sacramento, California – Campaign for Children and Families is shocked and dismayed that California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed SB 1441 (Kuehl). Today’s disastrous action by Schwarzenegger means Christian and other faith-based colleges in California will be forced to promote transsexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality if they accept students with Cal Grants.

“People of conscience are appalled that Arnold Schwarzenegger has trampled religious freedom to satisfy hyperactive sexual activists,” said Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families (CCF), a leading California-based pro-family organization. “SB 1441 will force religious colleges to either abandon their Biblical standards on sexuality, or reject students with state financial aid. Schwarzenegger is doing what Gray Davis did – trample religious freedom at the bidding of liberal activists from San Francisco and West Hollywood.”

“Arnold Schwarzenegger has two faces,” said Thomasson. “He speaks at churches and says he believes in religious freedom and family values, yet he’s stabbing pro-family Californians in the back. People of faith are suffering under Arnold Schwarzenegger. He’s not the lesser of two evils, he’s doing evil.”

CCF had informed thousands of Californians about SB 1441, generating thousands of phone calls, faxes, and emails opposing this offensive bill. Last week, the Governor was faxed letters pleading for a veto by Christian colleges, including Westmont College (Santa Barbara), Shasta Bible College (Redding), The King’s College and Seminary (Van Nuys), Vanguard University (Costa Mesa), Life Pacific College (San Dimas), Trinity Law School (Santa Ana), William Jessup University (Rocklin), and Simpson University (Redding).

Supported only by Democrats in the California State Legislature, SB 1441 specifically requires “any program or activity that…receives any financial assistance from the state” to support transsexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality or lose state funding. SB 1441 contains no exemption for religious colleges and universities that accept students with Cal Grants, or child-care providers that accept CalWORKS vouchers.

CCF’S FLOOR ALERT OPPOSING SB 1441

Campaign for Children and Families opposes SB 1441 (Kuehl), which would trample the religious freedom of faith-based colleges and universities, infringing on their values for sexual standards and appropriate role models for the children and students in their care. SB 1441 could easily harm the religious freedom of dozens of religious colleges and universities in California that accept financial aid for students. There is NO EXCEPTION for Protestant, Catholic, Jewish or other religious institutions.

1. Trampling Religious Standards

SB 1441 requires “any program or activity that… receives any financial assistance from the state” to support and promote “gender identity” (transsexuality) and “sexual orientation” (bisexuality and transsexuality). By importing these controversial sexual lifestyle definitions from the Penal Code, this intolerant bill tramples the religious values of faith-based institutions:

- Penal Code, Section 422.56(c) "Gender" means sex, and includes a person's gender identity and gender related appearance and behavior whether or not stereotypically associated with the person's assigned sex at birth.

- Penal Code, Section 422.56(h) "Sexual orientation" means heterosexuality, homosexuality, or bisexuality.

If signed into law, SB 1441 would mean religious colleges (which accept students with state financial aid), children’s day care centers and after-school programs (many which receive state funding) could be forced to allow men to wear women’s dresses and hire transsexual, bisexual or homosexual instructors. SB 1441 would destroy these institutions’ standards for role models and their dearly-held values to provide for the best interest of children in their care.

2. Forced Upon Religious Universities, Private Child Care Centers

The Senate Judiciary Committee noted how the effect of SB 1441 was “wide-ranging and deep,” affecting both religious universities that accept students with state financial assistance (through Cal Grants), and private child care facilities (through CalWorks child care vouchers):

Because Gov. Code Sec. 11135 covers not only the state but also state agencies and any program or activity at the local level that receives funding from the state, the impact of this bill is both wide-ranging and deep.

It will also affect contractors with the state (such as nonprofits), where the services provided locally are funded directly by the state or where the contractor receives any financial assistance from the state.

Some of the programs that would be affected by this bill are: Medi-Cal, State Disability Insurance, CalWORKS, food stamp programs, Unemployment Insurance, Workers' Compensation, financial aid programs administered by the University of California or the California State University, child support services programs and services for veterans, legal services programs, home loan assistance programs, licensing of businesses, government contracting and procurement activities, and voter registration.
-- Analysis of SB 1441, Senate Judiciary Committee

The Assembly floor analysis reports that all kinds of financial aid programs would be affected by SB 1441:

Some of the programs that would be affected by this bill are: Medi-Cal, the California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids, food stamp programs, unemployment and disability unemployment insurance, workers' compensation, financial aid programs, child support services programs, services for veterans, legal services programs, home loan assistance programs, licensing of businesses, government contracting and procurement activities, and voter registration.

OTHER SEXUAL INDOCTRINATION BILLS HEADING TO SCHWARZENEGGER

SB 1437 prohibits textbooks, instructional materials, and school-sponsored activities from "reflecting adversely" on transsexuality, bisexuality, or homosexuality, thus indirectly requiring positive portrayals of these sexual lifestyles in curriculum in all grades in all public schools. Consequently, schools would have to promote "same-sex marriages" and even sex-change procedures. SB 1437 is on the Senate floor.

AB 606 authorizes the California Superintendent of Public Instruction to arbitrarily withhold state funds from any district that does not adequately promote the State Department of Education’s “model policy” promoting transsexuality, bisexuality, or homosexuality in its school policies. Clears the way for transsexual, bisexual, and homosexual curriculum to be forced on all public schools. AB 606 is on the Senate floor.

AB 1056 would spend $250,000 in taxpayer dollars to promote transsexual, bisexual, and homosexual lifestyles under the banner of "tolerance education." Redefines "tolerance" to allow schools to force attitudinal support of transsexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality. AB 1056 is on the Senate floor.

---END ARTICLE---

This is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS! There are NO WORDS in the english language to describe how angry it makes me that a supposed pro-family governor would cave to the community of homosexual activists! And what makes this even worse is that this quashing of religious and freedom of conscience is TAXPAYER FUNDED!

13  Theology / Debate / Re: Most Haunted on: August 29, 2006, 12:39:29 PM
Warrior, wasn't it Jesus who first said "A house divided against itself cannot stand"? As I recall, some of the 'religious leaders' of the day accused Him of casting out demons through the power of the enemy instead of through His power as the Christ.

1Tim,
Firstly, we're not judging this show based on the title. If you look back in the beginning, Bronze shared with us the essential content of the program, and that is what we're judging.

Again, I speak of this as one who has seen and experienced spiritual warfare... While I understand Bronze's intentions, and yours too, Warrior, I still have to contend how dangerous this means of gaining knowledge is.

I'm going to use a common example here. How is a banker taught to recognize money? Is he shown a counterfeit bill alongside a real bill, or is he simply shown the real bill and told, "Here's what the real bill looks like, so that if you are handed a fake, you will know it right away?" I believe the same is generally true for theology.

EDIT: BTW, I don't see why you have such a problem with this place not allowing spokesmen from other religions, 1Tim... There's enough of that crap on the internet to fill the sewer system of the entire US and then some... Here in Michigan, we have a place known as Camp Barakel (Which, translated, means "God Blessed"). It is in the Huron National Forest, and upon entering, one can tell that God has placed a sort of spiritual bubble around the place... It's hard to explain. But I think of Christians Unite the same way... This is a refuge, a place where brothers and sisters in the Lord can come and discuss and learn from one another, and a place where earnest seekers can come to edify themselves and hopefully be brought to faith... And personally, I wish there were more places like it. Smiley
14  Entertainment / Politics and Political Issues / Re: ADF: School District Misleads Parents About Pro-Homosexual Diversity Training on: August 28, 2006, 11:55:25 PM
More double-speak... Are any of us really surprised by this? Bah!
15  Theology / Debate / Re: Most Haunted on: August 26, 2006, 10:58:59 PM
AMEN, my brothers! Smiley

Bronze,
I can understand your points, just as I understand those of my other brothers in this matter. And I can't quote the Scriptures to you as readily as I know I should be able. All I can give you is what I believe the Spirit has shown my heart through my studies, and share the knowledge that He has given me.

The Bible tells us that the Spirit within us, the Holy Spirit, is greater than the spirit that is within the world, that is, the devil. But I also know from the Scriptures and from the observing of spiritual warfare in my own life that the enemy's spirit is stronger than our own.

THAT is why it is so dangerous to involve yourself in these things, even just watching them for teaching purposes. In allowing your mind to induldge in these things, you are lowering your defenses, even if slightly. Your mind is an important thing to guard, and the enemy is crafty... Subtle. AirIam is right. We are told over and over "Do not be deceived", but the enemy knows exactly what will deceive us.

I am not ashamed to admit I am frightened of these things... Perhaps moreso because of what I have seen in my walk (Some of you might remember what I told you about my 'sister', Robin's struggles some time ago... *shudder*). When you expose yourself to them, you are opening doors, my brother, whether you realize it or not... And frankly, there are some doors I would just as soon bolt shut. There is simply no good, wise reason to allow yourself to become involved even just in the watching of these things...

I know God has worked good from this, but allow me to be blunt. I believe it is IN SPITE of your allowing yourself to induldge in this... Not through it, not because of it.
