I have recently been told about "janteloven" or the law of jante. It is based on a book written in the 1930's by a Norwegian/Danish author Aksel Sandemose. The book takes place in an imaginary Danish small town called Jante, based on Sandemose's hometown Nykøbing Mors. The book is about the ugly sides of Scandinavian smalltown mentality, and the term "Janteloven" meaning "Jante Laws" has come to mean the unspoken rules and jealousy of such communities in general.
Charismatics today are calling this a spirit that needs to be broken in areas of the U.S. where people of Scandinavian descent have settled.
Can anyone tell me more about this?
