1  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Please pray for this family-thank you! on: November 02, 2005, 06:31:43 PM
Would you please pray for my sister Debby's father-in-law Ray and his family? He has had cancer for awhile and just had a setback and was taken to the hospital today.  Please also pray for his wife, Carol. She is having a tough time with Ray having cancer and her daughter Molly having uncontrollable seizures and also her own mother, Mary, is not doing well and she is the caregiver and helper for all of these family members. I pray that they all find comfort and salvation in the Father's arms. Please pray for all of them as this is such a hard time for their family. Thank you so much and God bless all of you!

2  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Please pray for me and my mom on: May 10, 2005, 11:57:41 PM
     Hi everyone,
I need intercession to find a job. I am disabled and live with my mom-she is almost 80, but is independent and in pretty good health. Until now, we have been taking care of a little 2 yr old girl and her 6 yr old brother in our home (he goes to school during the day and we have him in the evenings sometimes), but just learned that the children's mother is planning to put the little one in preschool soon so she can be with other kids her age.
We love this child like she was our own and in addition to losing her, we will soon lose our income. I have piles of medical bills as well as vital medications which I must have to live. I do not drive due to a seizure disorder so my mom takes me to all my doctor's appointments, grocery shopping and the like. I hate being such a burden on her even though she doesn't complain.
I have been searching for a job I can do at home...I don't want my mother to have to work. She has worked hard her whole life and now I would like to support her. Could you please pray that I find a good job to support myself and my mom? She is very down about this whole situation, but I told her that God has never failed us yet. I do have faith that He will help us. He has always been there before and He is with us now and will get us through this rough time.
I just want my mom to believe this because I know He won't fail His children. Thank you so much for your prayers! Smiley
       Love in Christ,
       Pam
3  Fellowship / Just For Women / Please help... on: May 09, 2005, 04:16:52 PM
  Hi everyone,
I am a member of a board where people post because they need support-it is a kidney disease support group. I am afflicted with this and I want to help others-especially those who are new to these problems.
There is a poster who puts down the Christian faith and every word I say about the Bible, Jesus and what I believe in. I have tried to be gentle and kind to him although what he says does upset me a lot because these things about my faith are very precious to me. How do you respond to someone like this?
He began by asking me what I thought about the movie, "The Passion of The Christ" and "how do we know that is what Jesus said in the Garden of Gesthemane,Jesus couldn't have been beaten that bad because it would have killed Him", etc. I sent him a respectful and (I thought) intelligent post back about how the Bible was written by men inspired by the Holy Spirit, etc. Today he has sent me another post totally tearing my Christian faith apart!
I know that the Holy Spirit has to touch someone's heart and that they have to see their own sin to repent and believe. I know that some people's eyes will never be opened to the Truth, but how do I respectfully reply to this man? He is 80 yrs old and I have always been taught to respect older people.
His latest post has me very upset...despite all his disrespect, I feel sorry for him. How can I reply to all his so-called "intellectual" answers for everything in the Bible and the Christian faith? I have tried to respond to him as faithfully as I can but I am not yet as Biblically literate as I would like to be.
Could someone help me with this?
Thank you and Jesus be with you all,
     Pam
4  Welcome / About You! / Hi...new here too! on: October 18, 2004, 01:30:59 AM
    Hi everyone!
I am really glad that I have found this forum...it seems like there are a lot of wonderful people here. My name is Pam and I live in Illinois. I've had health problems most of my life but I rely on God's Grace to get me through them. I was born with a genetic kidney disease and have had 2 transplants-one of them has lasted almost 30 yrs.- Smiley I know that God has had a hand in that! I also have a congenital heart defect and a seizure disorder, but both are pretty well under control. Besides my transplants, I have had two knee replacements and cataracts removed because of the medicines I have to take. I live by Romans 8:28...it is so comforting to know that my sufferings are looked upon as meaningful in God's eyes.
I love to draw flowers and I guess you could say that is a ministry of mine- I make greeting cards and give them to my family, friends and others and always put "my" Bible verse on the back-I hope that people will see that even though they have trials in life, God can and will use them if they are willing.
I have four BEAUTIFUL nieces Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley whom I love like they were my own kids and am so happy that they are growing up knowing Jesus!
I am just so glad to be here among friends! Smiley Thank you for listening to my story....
     Love and Prayers,
     Pam
5  Fellowship / Just For Women / Negativity in my family on: October 17, 2004, 01:46:47 AM
Hi everyone,
I need help with a problem. Right now, I live with my 77 yr old mom. I am on disability and have enormous medical bills and she has problems with her legs, etc. so we help each other out. I truly wish that I had a place of my own and a way to support myself, but I have accepted that this is where God wants me to be for right now.
The problem is that my mom is so negative concerning just about everything. She thinks people are out to get you and only do things for what they will gain from it. She tells me that "people are crazy"-that is her answer to the evil in the world! She is constantly telling me bad things she has heard and read and imagines bad things happening. She thinks that men are not to be trusted-even though I have never married or had a boyfriend because of my medical situations, I know that this isn't true, but it still bothers me. She had a very rocky marriage to my dad and it ended in divorce... I know that colors her views, but it doesn't make them right.
I am not by any means perfect or even close, but I have had so much happen to me medically speaking in the last 32 yrs since the age of 12 and I still try to see the silver lining in situations-I live by Romans 8:28-it gives me such comfort to know that whatever I am going through, it has meaning in God's eyes. Yet, I have found myself more complaining at times...it is hard being around all that negative stuff and not having it rub off on you.
If I say something positive (and I hope uplifting), she counters with something that can bring me down. I love my mother and I respect her. I know that that is what God tells us to do, but it takes a toll on my spirit being around all that negativity. I am tired of the arguements that sometimes happen, so I try to keep my opinions to myself.
I listen to Christian music and teachings on the radio daily, go to church faithfully, pray, etc. so that helps with keeping my spirit healthy, but being human, I still sometimes am taken up in the negative talk. My mom claims Christianity, but sometimes I am worried about her...can anyone tell me how to best deal with this situation? I have been thinking about it for awhile and need some advice from a Christian point of view. Thank you so much for any help or suggestions!!
    Blessings to everyone,
    Pam Smiley
6  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Need prayer for finances on: September 22, 2004, 01:17:41 AM
I need prayer for my finances. I have several disabilities and cannot work outside the home. I am currently helping my mother who sits for a small child, but I need better employment to help with all my medical bills and the expenses of daily living. If I could get an at-home job, I could still help my mom and bring in some much needed money. I have a very small disability pension from my insurance, but it's not enough to pay all of my medical expenses and I do not want to go on public aid!
I do a lot of artwork and would be just thrilled to have employment that would utilize this gift God has given me! Thank you so much for your prayers-it means so much to me!
   In Christ,
   Pam
7  Fellowship / Just For Women / How do I stop this? on: September 22, 2004, 12:47:13 AM
   Hi to all of you!
I am new on the board and I am glad that I can talk to other Christians! Smiley Can anyone help? A relative who I am very close to talks about people a lot and I want to find a way to tell her (in love) about it. She is really sensitive and probably would be hurt by my comments...I don't want this to happen, but it's hard to be around her. She is a Christian and attends the same church as I do.
I read the posts on gossip- They are so right on the mark! What do you suggest? I do not want her to be offended.
Thank you all for any and all help!
      In Christ,
       Pam
