1  Entertainment / Books / Purpose-Driven Life- I have a ? on: July 29, 2005, 09:48:37 PM
I was just wondering if anyone knew which chapter or pages that girl had that criminal read, when he turned himself into the police? I heard about that all over the news, then read the book, so I forgot which part of the book he read? Anyway- does anyone know??
2  Entertainment / Music / Relient K- hidden track on "Mmhmm"??? on: July 29, 2005, 09:25:48 PM
Hey, I was wondering...  I think I've heard something before, about there being a hidden track on Relient K's album "Mmhmm".  That was a while ago, and I forgot about it entirely.... but just now, I was looking up the lyrics on the album... and there was a song I didn't recognize. A song number 15!  Apparently it's called "Apathetic Way to Be".

Does anyone know anything about this, and/or how I can listen to the song I didn't know I owned? I thought maybe I could if I put the CD in my computer, but...no....   can anyone help me?
3  Entertainment / Music / Re:Is "Falling Up" Christian? on: July 29, 2005, 09:19:19 PM

Sorry about spelling "Protestant" wrong in the title- accident.
5  Theology / Apologetics / Why did protistants take out Biblical books? on: June 09, 2005, 07:39:36 PM
Hey, most of you guys here are protestant, right? Or at least a non-Catholic but still Christian demonination- unless you're non- oh, you know waht I mean. Okay, so I'm Catholic, and have always wondered why Martin Luther took books from the Bible during the Reformation. I mean...for the first 14 hundred years all Christians excepted all the books you now claim aren't a part of the Bible. Was it just that Luther read (for example) 2 Maccabees and saw that 5 verses supported our teaching on purgatory and said, "Well- this has to go! This belief isn't a part of my theological agenda- *rip, crumble, toss*. I mean...what's the deal? My friend's parents taught her that us Catholics added books later on, but- oh, don't even try that. Martin Luther and his Protestant Reformers removed them, and that is the truth.  so..... why? Why do'nt your churches use the version of the Bible that Jesus and the apostles used? Why is it that your church doesn't use the whole Bible?
6  Entertainment / Music / Kanye West on: June 07, 2005, 11:46:18 PM
I was wondering...what do you guys know about this guy? At the Grammy's a few months ago he sang, well rapped "Jesus Walks" for everyone, so I was excited, cuz I thot he was a Christian rapper, but I looked up his album online and it said, "edited"/"unedited" next to, not only the album, but that song! And there was the "N" word and like 10 other bad words in the song called "Jesus Walks". so- I was so confused! A Christian song w/ cusswords?!! Someone else told me they thouht he was big on God, but- wat? Here, I found the lyrics, read them, maybe you can figure this out...

Yo
We at war
We at war with terrosism, racism, and most of all we at war wit ourselves
(Jesus Walks)
God show me a way because the Devil's trying to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me) with me with me with me [fades]

You know what the Midwest iz?
young & Restless
Where restless [BLEEP] might snatch yo necklace
And next these [BLEEP] might jack yo Lexus
Somebody tell these [BLEEP] who Kanye West iz
I walk through the valley of the shadow of death iz
Top floor, the view alone will leave you breathless
Uhhhh!
Try to catch it
Uhhhh!
It's kinda hard
Getting choked by the detectives yeah yeah now check the method
They be asking us questions, harassin', arrest us
Saying "We eat pieces of [BLEEP] like you for breakfast."
Huh? Ya'll eat pieces of [BLEEP]? What's the basis?
We ain't going nowhere but got suits and cases
A trunk full of [coke], rental car from Avis
My momma used to say only Jesus can save us
Well momma I know I act a fool
But I'll be gone till November I got packs to move, I Hope

(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the Devil's tryna to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me)
The only thing that I pray is that me feet don't fail me now
(Jesus Walks)
And I don't think there is nothing I can do now ta, right my wrongs
(Jesus Walks with me)
I wanna talk to God but I'm afraid because we ain't spoke in so long

(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the Devil's tryna to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me)
The only thing that I pray is that me feet don't fail me now
(Jesus Walks)
And I don't think there is nothing I can do now to right my wrongs
(Jesus Walks with me)
I want to talk to God but I'm afraid because we ain't spoke in so long.
So Long! So Long...

To the hustlas, killas, murderas, drug dealas even da strippers
(Jesus walks with them)
To the victims of Welfare for we living in hell here BLEEP yeah
(Jesus walks with them)
Now hear ye hear ye want to see Thee more clearly
I know He hear me when my feet get weary
Cuz we're the almost nearly extinct
We rappers is role models, we rap we don't think
I ain't here to argue about his facial features
Or here to convert atheists into believers
I'm just trying to say the way school need teachers
The way Kathy Lee needed Regis that's the way I need Jesus
So here go my single dawg radio needs this
They say you can rap-about-anything except for Jesus
That means guns, sex, lies, video tapes
But if I talk about God my record won't get played, Huh?
Well if this take away from my spins
Which will probably take away from my ends
Then I hope it take away from my sins
And bring the day that I'm dreamin bout
Next time I'm in the club everybody screamin out

(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the devil's tryna break me down
(Jesus Walks)
The only thing that I pray is that my feet don't fail me now

I mean, it seems like a preety cool song, right? Or...? i'm all confused.
7  Entertainment / Music / Re:which song of Switchfoot... on: June 05, 2005, 02:15:02 PM
Yeah, I wish I had their earlier albums, but I don't even think I've heard any music from their previous albums....   She likes all kinds of music...rap, many different kinds of rock, hip-hop..but she doesn't listen to music that's too soft.  So.  What do you think? What song/s on that album are really good and have a Christian message?
8  Entertainment / Music / which song of Switchfoot... on: June 04, 2005, 01:09:33 PM
I'm making a tape of Christian music for my pen pal in Germany who has never heard any other than what she sings in church. I was wondering what song/s you would recommend for me to put on the tape from "The Beautiful Letdown" album by Switchfoot if the point is to show how awesome *Christian* music can be.
9  Entertainment / Music / Is "Falling Up" Christian? on: May 26, 2005, 07:11:32 PM
They play the song "Falling Up" by Escalates on my local Christian radio station- but I could never figure out how it's Christian. Does anyone know what the song is about? What the lyrics mean?

This is everything that I wanted
Do you believe that I tried so hard to take it home
But never felt a single moment
Life has been a place where I’ve wandered
Moving slowly to understand what I can grasp
But understand that it’s still not right

So come back to me

(Chorus)
I can’t find it but maybe I’ll cope
And can you hide it and never let go?
Come back to you, I only knew

Lies have covered all of the smiles
And wakened thoughts that have turned my heart
To face the wind
And then fall to where I know I’ll fit, but you
Do you believe that I wanted
Something other than fallen hearts that just
Belong
To places where the bridges give in

Can you see what I felt when I told you
Can you cope when it runs right through you
Cause my heart it is broken with love that is
Coped
And now you tell me that I have something that’s missing?
10  Theology / Debate / Re:Athiests, etc who celebrate Christmas on: December 23, 2004, 12:41:11 PM
Many folks don't think that it is possible for Christians to laugh and have fun. That would be another television stereotype, and it simply isn't true. Christians simply have fun in different ways than the world. Christians don't need alcohol and other substances to get happy and have fun. Maybe that's why the world thinks that Christians are dull, boring, never have any fun, and never laugh. WELL, I've got a NEWS FLASH! - Our clean fun is MORE FUN - and we can legally drive when we leave the party.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Amen Smiley

yes, Kalthzar, please do. And- what? You're Athiest? Isn't this a Christian website? What's "the OP"?
12  Theology / Debate / Athiests, etc who celebrate Christmas on: December 18, 2004, 03:34:33 PM
Does this make sence to you? It doesn't to me, and it makes me mad. Christmas is supposed to be a holiday that celebrates Christ- so how do so many people who aren't even Christian celebrate it?! I had some friends who aren't Christian, and they asked me what I wanted for Christmas. One of them told me that Christmas was a national holiday, and nobody really celebrates it for religion anymore. Another one got reeeallly mad when I asked her why she celebrated it. Is the point of this hliday to these people getting stuff?! How lame! What do yout think?
13  Theology / Debate / Re:Seperation of Curch and state on: December 18, 2004, 03:29:09 PM
yeah, that ^ was the letter, the one that caused so much contreversy....I've seen at least 4 news paper articles, seen it on local news 3 times, national news, KLove....
14  Theology / Debate / Re:Seperation of Curch and state on: December 10, 2004, 05:34:53 PM
By the way- yes, that is supposed to say "Seperation of Church and State". Sorry! Type-o!
15  Theology / Debate / Seperation of Curch and state on: December 10, 2004, 05:33:35 PM
I want to know what you think about this...

Okay, so my brother, Mike has a friend named Eric. Eric's a good guy. He's religous- wants to be a minister! He even has a haircut so you can see the shape of a cross on the back of his head. He also has sideburns on the side of his face is the shapes of little crosses. He comes form a religious family, too. His brother is or is going to be a minister as well, and there is a youth group at his house twice a week. Now, since Eric is so into religion, he decided to pass out a letter to all the students at Oak Hills High School (all 3,000 of us), that would talk a little about God.

So, on Wednesday morning, I was in my friend's homeroom, checking my e-mail before school, when Eric came in, and asked me if I'd pass out something for him to the class. Not even realizing what it was, or how much this would affect the students, I gladly took some envelopes and agreed to help him.

Later on, in 4th bell, I heard two girls talking about some letter and how everyone was soo mad. (I'd never even read the letter, or took one for myself. Didn't even think of it. I still didn't know what it was.) They mentioned that this letter had started contreversy, and that it explained some things about God and Christianity. One of the girls, who had helped Eric pass out these letters to several homerooms let me read a copy of this letter.  The letter asked if you'd ever thought about where you're going when you die, and it said that the people responisble for this letter woudn't have felt like they were doing their job as fellow classmates by not saying those things. I read the letter, and was very pleased! I thought it was great that he had passed it out, but not everyone had the same opinion...

In my next class, someone mentioned to me, "So...I heard Eric was passing around some religious letter...?" Then she told me that she guessed he'd get suspended, or at least in trouble. (She hoped for the worst.) But I didn't really think anything of her opinion and ignored what she'd said. But all throughout the rest of the day, people were all saying either how mad they were, or how stupid Eric and his letter were.

I figured Eric hadn't gotten in trouble at all, and there wasn't any problem, till I found this in my inbox this morning:

"Many of you know about the letter that was being distributed at Oak Hills High School today by Eric Bast and probably a good number of you heard
about the result of that letter.

This is a letter that Eric has written and has asked me to forward to
members of the iMPACT youth group.

Hey everybody this is Eric Sideburns Bast and I did get suspended for 5 school days.  It's cool though.  I did violate school rules and there is no need for anybody to "go down with me".  Oak Hills and Mr. Vanassdall have been really cool about it and please don't be mad at them.  I broke
rules and I should be punished plain and simple.  The rules I violated were not anything to do with content of the letter but were about passing of pamphlets or leaflets without school permission.  I did not get school permission because I was afraid that if I asked the school and they said
that I couldn't do it then it would be over and I could not do this awesome thing.  So I decided to not ask them and take the chance of getting in trouble because that is how much I want people to know about Jesus Christ.  I just want everyone to know that use this is an awesome time to witness to your friends who need Jesus Christ.  If anyone
does not have a letter tell them to go to www. letter****friends.com and then click on "the letter" on the left side of the screen.  You are allowed to share the letter with others before and after school, in the
lunchroom and in between bells, just not in the classroom.  You should not hand out a letter to anyone in any of your classes.  You could get in trouble because it is a disruption to the learning environment.  If anyone
is talking about the letter ask them if they have read it first and if they have ask them what they think of it.  If they don't have one tell them about lettertomyfriends.com.  I have free bibles and free More than A Carpenters for anyone who is interested just let me know and I can get
some to you.  I will be praying for everybody.  You rule.

Eric"

I was shocked! A 5 day suspention?!!! Woah!

I later found out (from Mike) that he had spent $1000 to pay for ink, paper, envelopes....  He was on the news today at 6, I missed it though...he was also in the paper.

What do you guys think? I don't know if he's been excepted into a college yet, but if not, that can't look good! Not to mention, the (at least a thousand or so) students who were angered by the letter.

Well, anyway, you can go to http://www. lettert****friends.com/ to read his letter, or e-mail him (or either of the two other people) some support.

I want to know you're thoughts!
