Theology / Debate / Re:Correct vs. incorrect interpretations

if you read my post, you would know that you only strengthened my point. Math uses it for arguments sake. Infinite lines do not exist. Infinite is not a reality based concept. Can you point out anything REAL that is infinite? And if you claim it is infinite, how can you prove it? It is merely an arbitrary axiom accepted to further a mathematic principle. I mentioned nothing about throwing away math, and I did not attack theology in my post. I think you are being too defensive. I am through trying to argue the "non-existence" of god. I was just helping with the definition conflict you and Neo were having.

the definition of infinite is not TRULY known to man, as it is not a concept related to reality. It is an abstraction that is used in imagination for the furthering of some mathematic principles. Everything in reality is finite in nature. And while there are possibilities for infinite things such as matter can exist "forever" but we do not know yet. For, none of us can exist long enough to observe the infinite nature of things. So infinite, is only the negation of what men do know which is the term finite.

Theology / Apologetics / Re:Is Love Selfish?

If i know i love the person to whom i am giving, then I know that I will always benefit in the long run. Its hard to avoid that fact. I can try to ignore that, so that I may give not knowing that i will receive, but ultimately it is unavoidable. Just being in their prescence is a value to me...and will be of more value than any thing i can give.

this is not anti-god rhetoric. It is a valid argument. I was merely inquiring, your insight? I have not insulted you. I have not mocked you. I have not even acted in a manner which would demean you or your beliefs, so why are you evading the question? I dont understand your reaction.

because you are getting more in return, are you not? It is the equivalent of me GIVING you a 20 dollar bill, then getting a 100 dollar bill in return. How is that not selfish?

Theology / Apologetics / Is Love Selfish?

I was thinking about it and there isnt one instance of love where I dont benefit. If I am constantly gaining value, by loving someone, is that not selfish? Selflessness is where I sacrifice value and gain none. So if I gain anything by being in love, then it makes love a selfish thing.

Theology / Apologetics / Re:The Teaching of Self-Esteem

is self-esteem bad? I agree that narcissism is bad. But is having a true firm belief that you are good, and that you deserve whatever you earn is a bad thing? Without self esteem, where would we be?

I became christian basically from birth. However, I didnt accept god until I was 5. I renounced god after a few books, and 9 philosophy classes.
I can define myself, every single cell in me has an identity, which can be analyzed and described.
I would like to ask a few questions which will lead into an argument later. How do you think that men acquire knowledge? (this is epistomology) And if god is incomprehensible, and cannot be judged by human reasoning, then what makes you think that he isnt supernatural? That sounds very similar to the definition of supernatural: not subject to natural laws and incomprehensible.

25. Not that it matters. I would ask you why you asked that, but I dont want to get off topic. I have a major in economics. And in philosophy. That might be why I renounced my formerly methodist beliefs.
