1  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:Doom 3 on: August 16, 2004, 02:05:16 AM
yeah, i posted this in the wrong place, my bad, i saw gen discussion and woops, it was too late.  lol.

but yea, its not for everyone.  now, i dont personally agree that this game is evil, it is in fact, just a game, yes there are many symbols that people would find offensive, for example right at the end, there are people nailed to an upside down cross, now yea, i can see why thats offensive, but if you play through the game you see it in context as defining that you are about to face off against a great evil.  it adds the suspence and danger factor.

i dont see it as evil, i see it as a game.  but thats me.

everyone is entitled to their opinion.

GOD IS AWESOME! Grin
2  Prayer / General Discussion / Doom 3 on: August 13, 2004, 07:49:03 PM
im basically looking for what people think about this game.  so if any christian gamers are here wanna give their opinion on it, that would be cool.

oh yea, if you are a parent and have thought about letting your child play this game, dont.  18 and up only.

for those of you that dont know what this game is, its the "third" version of a classic game.  i use quotes because there hvae been more than three.

heres the basic story.  you are a marine assigned to a research lab on mars.  it is run by a corporation called UAC.  strange things have been going on there and you are sent in as extra help.  the facility is doing ground breaking research, and something goes wrong which basically opens up a portal to hell.  pretty much everyone on the base is dead instantly, you survive and then have to battle through hell, literally, to close the gate and save the day.

its very scary, dark, has plenty of occult symbols (pentagrams etc) and massive amounts of gore.

i suggest only people strong of mind and able to see this just as a video game play it, because it is very dark.  ive played through the whole game, i enjoyed it.  its got a great story, awesome graphics, and great sound.

lots of christians ive talked to about this game refuse to play it and see it as evil and such, im just wondering about what people here think.

personally, i dont find symbols and the such hurtful to me.  im stronger than that.

what do you all think?  Smiley
3  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:Any hope for an ignore button? on: April 30, 2004, 01:21:15 AM
nah dude, im not offended, its all good... i was just sayin that its pointless to ignore people.  seriously, if there are peeps straight up being mean and jerkin you around then i have a better solution.  BANNED!!!!   im not new to forums in the least, ive been a gamer for sometime now so i know my way around forums...  whenever someone repeately gets out of line and needs to be dealt with, nothing beats a simple BAN.

its the ignore that everyone gets to enjoy.

i was referring to if people just dont like someones take or opinion on things and just wanna ignore them for that reason, i think thats outta line and pointless.  thats all im sayin... hehe
4  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:Any hope for an ignore button? on: April 29, 2004, 03:39:41 PM
hey, i never said i was on a pious wagon, im just saying its a pointless way to go about things.

and if im being ignored by whoever, then that just makes my point even more.

i guess i assumed too much...  my mistake... i just had assumed that this being a christian forum, there wouldnt be an issue where people would want to ignore others..

oh well...  Roll Eyes
5  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:Any hope for an ignore button? on: April 29, 2004, 01:49:49 PM
an ignore option...  some people need to grow up...  i thought this was a christian forum...  how christian is it to ignore someone because you dont like what they have to say?
6  Entertainment / Movies / Re:The Matrix Trilogy on: April 26, 2004, 07:43:09 AM
i own and love all three of them.  each one should be seen as a separate entity.  they all serve their purpose.  the first one is an introduction to characters, story, and shows you what the matrix is.  it is balenced action in both the real, and matrix worlds.

the second one is more so focused on things that are happeneing IN the matrix and thusly, you dont see too much happenenig in the real world.  its mainly focused on the matrix and the happenings there.

the third one is mostly staged in the real world.  its to show the battle between the machines and men once the walls are breached.

so as you can see, all three serve a purpose and i think they do it extremely well.

i love the series personally.
7  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:Problem with other christians on: April 24, 2004, 12:00:05 PM
the key is to look, but not look at the same time...  cuz it seems to be when your not looking that things happen and someone comes along! Grin
8  Fellowship / You name it!! / Re:For those who haven't seen it yet...Oh your gosh! on: April 21, 2004, 11:33:13 AM
"oh my gosh"  is merely a "not so bad" way of saying "oh my god"  its rather simple.  its a way for people that dont curse to curse!  lets have a round of applause for loop holes!!  *claps sarcastically*

10  Prayer / General Discussion / Relient K on: April 19, 2004, 12:06:49 AM
so yea, i saw relient K in concert last night with yellowsecond, the rocket summer, and may  it was an awesome show.  anyone else like them?
11  Welcome / About You! / Jester has arrived on: April 18, 2004, 10:58:35 PM
so yea... about me... hmmm... well then.  i guess i should start off with the basics eh?

well, im 21 years old, im a junior at Roberts Wesleyan College, im an Art Ed major.

i enjoy all kinds of music, playing paintball, chillin.... ya know. the basics...

umm...  ive had just about as much as i can take of stupid people recently.  its really starting to irritate me to no end how many christians can be so immature even when in college...  my advice to anyone out there looking at going to a christian college, DONT...  sure, it looks good and all, but there are a lot of things that you dont learn until youve been there a little while...

all this school has turned out to be is a glorified high school... its really really irritating to me.

ok, so yea, i could go on about that, but i wont...

umm yeah anyways, im a fairly new christian, but i feel i have an advantgae having faced out the real world as well.. it makes things easier when you know how to take it in your own hands as well as relying on God to aid you.  at leats thats how i feel about it all... so yea, im just kinda rambling on so im gonna stop it here... Cool
12  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:Problem with other christians on: April 18, 2004, 10:42:43 PM
allright, im new to these forums, but i gotta response to this.  basically, ive been in that whole seeing everyone with someone and being single situation.  yea it sucks, i agree.  but then again, where i stop agreeing is when people expect God to do everything for them.  im not trying to be mean here at all, but seriously, God isnt just gonna hand you someone cuz youre sad and asking him to.  it just dosent work like that.  you have to put in the effort.  you have to take the risk and you have to put yourself out on a limb and go look around for yourself.

if you really truely want a relationship then get out there and make it happen.  honestly, if you keep sitting around and not putting forth the effort, then youll be sitting around for a long time.  i used to be the same way till i got sick of it and decided that it was time to take things into my own hands.

the only way you learn is from making mistakes, and getting out and trying your hand at life.  its not pretty, and its not always happy, but seriously, if you just sit around and do nothing about it, then youll look back someday and regret it.

the only thing stopping you from having a relationship is yourself
