A friend of mine wrote this and it is posted at acouple of web sites and one other forum.
Fellow Christians:
We are in a time of great change, a time of great struggle, and a time where the voice of the people and the acts of politicians is momentous to the future of this nation and maybe even the world.
There is so much that I have to say, but so much of which I can not express. This nation has been under attack for years, and we have been blind to it. They took prayer out of schools, and legalized the premeditated murder of the unborn. And bit by bit we hear stories of our children and us losing rights; rights to express our faith in Jesus Christ.
How could these awful things happen in a nation that was founded on Jesus and the Word of God? Because Christians have sat in their churches and said it was not their problem, it was up to the government; they were not going to get involved in politics. But I say today that the church is not in the building, but in the world; our mission field is not in the building, but in the world; our responsibilities, time, money, and work are not tied to our local congregation, but to the world!!! If we just sit in church this nation will almost literally “go to hell”! We can not turn this nation over to Satan, but must give it back to God. We need to get involved in areas that will affect this nation: sign petitions, vote, make phone calls, write letters; do anything you can do to raise support for the causes that Christ would support!
I do believe in the local church; it is from God. But the church is a tool, a gas station, and a hospital; not the destination.
The Church must truly bind together and move FORWARD for Jesus Christ. We need to forget our differences, stop being petty and letting every little thing come between us and our brothers and sisters in Christ. If we continue to let pride and greed and power and selfishness divide us the Church will remain useless to this God- needing world.
People in this nation are trying to destroy marriage, and any evidence of God in this country, and we must not let them. We must fight the good fight. We must take up the FULL armor of God and fight for our country and the Church. I ask you today to do what you can, give what you can, say what you can, and pray when you can. We can not forget the true power of prayer. This battle is more than politics; it is the battle for the church, for Jesus, and for the moral structure of this nation. May God bless you and your family mightily as you fight the good fight.
Your Brother in Christ
