1  Fellowship / For Men Only / Crushing on a girl who's not a Christian on: June 11, 2008, 11:36:45 PM
Hey Guys, I'm totally digging this girl I hang out with, we have no time left, College is almost over, and I really enjoy being around her. She has this certain bubbliness and adorable sense of humor, bright green eyes and a smile that can kill. But she's not a Christian, and it shows from time to time, and she's had a lot of boyfriends. I'm a complete idiot at this, I've never asked a girl out or anything, but for some reason I can't help but like her, I've been praying so hard about it, and everything seems to be up in the air at this point. I was just wondering, what would you guys do in this situation? What happens if you're a Christian guy who likes a girl who seems, almost out of your league, and definitely more experienced at relationships with the opposite gender? Huh

I'll be praying for you too.

I know the feeling, when you said your life isn't going as you'd hoped. I think it all the time. I've missed out on a lot in life so far, and it gets me down because I think "I could have done that so much better". But never dwell on the past. It can't be changed, and it just causes depression.

I saw the new year coming and I thought, I've made so many mistakes this year. I have really missed out on things. But then I realized that so much good can happen in a new year, and trust me, a lot of change can happen in one year. Now I think that 2007 will be a great year for change.

I'll pray that God will give you hope.

Thank you all for your prayer support, it means a lot. I talked to my Pastor the other day about this and he says he'll pray too. I got a chance to talk to her a week or so ago and got to talk about a few really important things about God and Christianity, to clear things up. Needless to say, we didn't talk long, but I know where she stands in her faith a little more. We're both in a place that has not many Christians to help us with our walks with God, and we both feel a little isolated. I think I might see if she wants to hang out and read the bible some time. I don't think she'd be against the idea.
God bless!

Thank you all for your support. I've overcome a few obstacles since I started this thread, the main one is letting God do his work. I'm the kind of person who feels like it's up to them, and only them, to do things. Lately I've begun just letting go of that idea and letting God take care of my friends. After all, he's the only one who can really help them inside, not me.

Thank you all for your support, it means a lot.
Even though her and I have lost touch, I still pray for her. I realize now that maybe it might take losing touch to help her remember God again. After all, his timing is perfect, even if I don't understand why things happen the way they do. One thing that God has done in my life is that he's released me from the burden I've been carrying, which is worry. I worry a lot, and for once I don't worry about her at all. I'm concerned, but I'm not worrying. And I'm unafraid. Life has been a rollercoaster lately, but I think maybe I've finally gotten off the ride for a change.

7  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Need Prayer Support for a friend. on: October 25, 2006, 12:06:11 PM
Hello, I'm not new to this forum, I've been here once before.  I have a friend, I asked for prayer for her a while ago on this forum and I thank everyone for their support. This girl I've known for about five years now, and I care for her more than I care for anyone else in the world, including myself, if that makes any sense. We've never been anything more than friends, though I wish sometimes that I could be someone more to her. She came from a troubled household and a terrifying childhood that I won't detail, but it was pretty harsh, and she was scarred for life because of it. My wish was that I could be someone she'd trust among the people she doesn't trust. Anyhow, moving on...
Last time I was asking for prayer because I wanted her to have God in her life, and to no surprise, she changed, she came to church, got baptised even. Then she gave up some of her bad habits, and she was almost a new person. I've never seen someone so changed in my entire life. We both now attend the same College, and she's changed a lot more for the better, and some for the worse. She's come out of her shell a lot and I'm proud of her for it. However, she's abandoned the town we came from for reasons that have to do with family and friends, and she's almost abandoned her faith because she hasn't had any good Christian influence since she left (about two years now.) I'm trying to get her back into reading her Bible seriously, and trusting God again, but I don't have much chance to explain, there's not a lot of times when it's just her and I, together, serious. She also has a friend she is incredibly close with, and that friend isn't a Christian, and I think she might be a bad influence (not that she's a bad person at all, but values do rub off.) My friend is probably the most unique person I have ever met, and the only person I've ever cared for this much, and I don't want her to somehow give up on her faith in exchange for whatever else.
I guess the thing I'd like prayer for is for her to maintain her faith, to love and trust God with all her heart, and for her to be strong. Maybe even pray that I'll get a chance to talk to her seriously about it, because people can be the instruments of God. Thank you all for support, I'd lost faith in the power of prayer a while ago but now I'm starting to realize on a mature level that God is with every one of us, and prayer does indeed work miracles in people's lives. I just want him to work a miracle in her life, because she's been a miracle in mine. Thanks. Her name, well, lets just call her Sash. That's good enough.

I also appreciate the fact that people are actually using the internet for a constructive, Godly means. Keep it up, everyone!

Well its been a while, and I'm so sorry I havent told u guys about whats been happening. My friend Tara was baptised during the early summer and now she's becoming a strong Christian. Its great seeing how God is working in peoples lives. Lately she's been having some trouble because she's moved into a new house (away from her foster family)
please pray for her.

Yeah this is pretty sweet. Cheesy
I mean, my whole life I knew God existed, but now he's starting to work in my life! I got a chance to talk with my youth pastor about baptism (and she was there too) and thats the exact thing I prayed for!   Grin

Me again. Well, its going great, you guys.
God is really working this year. Lately I've gotten her to youth, church, and actually she was talking about getting baptised.......again. (I mean, ACTUALLY baptised.)
I think it would be too big of a step this early but only God knows whats best Grin. Its good to know theres good Christian people out there, thanks you guys. You bring light into this big, dark internet.  Tongue

Well actually I have something great to tell 'yall.
SHe came to youth this week, and she's going to come to church on sunday. And when she was at youth.....she really acted like she liked it a lot. I really think the problem lies in who she hangs out with. She even told me that she puts on a "front" when she's around her (unsaved) friends. But little by little, ever since I posted on this forum theres been changes in her.
You guys, I cant thank u enough!
12  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re:Need some advice, really. on: March 27, 2004, 10:18:49 AM
Yeah I try to get her to some youth group stuff, but since she lives with a foster family she can't get to youth group. its like every time i try to get her to somethiing at Church theres something that interferes.  Angry
And BUTCHA, you're so right. Just a while ago I realized that the reason I've become more of a Christian is because of my wanting to see HER become christian.
Whoa. Thats pretty deep.  Grin
thanks a lot you guys.
13  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re:Need some advice, really. on: March 26, 2004, 08:27:29 PM
Her name is Tara
Yeah I get you when you say she was baptized in water but not in the spirit. I'm planning to give her a book by Michael W Smith "Friends are friends forever" because it's chock-full of bible verses for situations.
Thanks!

Well, I'm new to this forum so I guess this is a good place to post this (I mean, in the prayer requests.)
I have a friend, and she's a really good person. She's had a troubled past, and she never really grew up in any sort of Christian home. She has been baptized, but she's lost. lately she's been talking about going to the middle east and becoming Islamic. Sometimes she says she's Christian, and acts like it, and other times she says she's not Sad. I think she's searching for God, but in all the wrong places. Can anyone give me advice on how to help her find what she's looking for? Huh
