1  Fellowship / What are you doing? / Be careful what you as for... on: July 29, 2005, 10:56:36 PM
I often pray for opportunities to serve the Lord. A year and a half ago, I prayed for strength to become more active in my church, within two days of praying this, I was asked to serve on a committee. I prayed every morning for a week for God to help me see fellowship opportunities. The following Sunday a new new Bible study group was started. I prayed for wisdom and courage to serve in a more active way. A short time later I was encouraged by others to consider lay speaking. I am now pursuing this. These are just a few examples of what the Lord is doing through me. God had transformed me from a "volunteer for nothing" one day a week christian to an active, yet unworthy servant. I pray to seek His will, and He leads me to opportunities.

I have heard of people subscribing to "Sky Angel" I have never seen it, but it is worth looking into. I believe it has quality christian/family programing. It is worth an internet search.

I am obviously in the minority. I like Left Behing 1 & 2. Maybe it was because I bought the movies just after being saved and I was hungry for anything spiritual. Yes, the movie is dorky at times and has a low budget look, but I can live with that. I have loaned the movies out to friends who are not saved. I hope it helps! Maybe I like the movies because I have not read the books.?

Has anyone seen "Timechangers?" I heard people call in on a christian radio show and they seemed to really like it. I believe it explores the lack of morality on society. I have been considering purchasing it. I would like to use it to further my own walk with God and I would want to share it with non believers. Is this a good movie for that?

That is great Tom! I have starting doing the same. I give thanks to God for things I have always taken for granted. If I am going to complain (a little) to God when things get tough, I'd better thank him for all the good. Smiley When I am feeling sorry for myself, I just think of all I am blessed with. Works every time.

Way to go pbratt! I am looking to serve the Lord more. You have given me some good ideas. And you have given many people hope. You will never know how much your service has meant to some of those you have served.

Howdy everyone!

Purpose Driven Life helped lead to my salvation. I knew something was missing from my life. A co-worker loaned me the book on a flight on December 1, 2003. I now know that it was no accident that I was given the book. I devoured it. I was hooked right away. I know that it was God missing from my life. I am going through the book again (I bought my own copy). I am now using the companion journal. I am learning a lot about myself and my walk with God by journaling. I plan on reading this book often. It is a good measuring stick. I will refer to the journal often. I do not often give rave reviews on anything. This book is exceptional.

Hello a.b.,

I have been using the Purpose Driven Life journal. I didn't use the journal the first time through. I am learning a lot about myself by journaling. I plan on referring to my journal for the rest of my earthly life. That book played a big part in leading me to Christ! Feel free to share your thoughts on journaling!

Yours in Christ,

11  Fellowship / What are you doing? / On fire to serve on: January 27, 2004, 09:24:34 PM
I am newly saved. Before being saved, I always avoided serving the church and God. I am now hungry to serve. I found this forum while looking for ideas on serving and witnessing. No more excuses from me!

15  Welcome / About You! / Hello! I am a newbie! on: January 27, 2004, 08:49:57 PM
Greetings. I am new to this forum. More importantly, I am newly saved. I have a good job, great wife and kids, and a warm home. Strangely though, something was missing from my life. Thanks to my church family, friends, and christian radio, I figured out what was missing. It was my relationship with God. Over the past three months, I have grown closer to the Lord everyday. I am being transformed! I trust I can gain from this group and I trust that I can give to this group. I see so many people going down the wrong turn I just came from. God is good!
