I'll go ahead and admit that I'm a city boy and know absolutely nothing about horses, but I do understand and appreciate the description you gave. I'm not even comfortable riding them, but I do love to watch them. I do have some friends who have raised Arabians, and all I can really say is they are incredible. I don't even understand the terms, but I would like to hear more about them.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Revelation 21:3-4 NASB  And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away."

Hi khowgirl,

I was involved with horses when I was younger, in my teens. I am unable to enjoy riding and working with them now as I could then, but I do fully understand what you mean. The Arabians were my favorite horse also. I had quite a few of them. There was only one horse that was not Arabian that won my heart. He was a young gelding mix breed (no Arabian in him). He had Quarter horse and who knows what else. A brown and white paint. He was the gentlist yet most spirited horse I have met. It was more like having a well behaved very faithful dog. He would try to follow me every where I went.

I help take care of Quarterhorses; I've only met seven or eight Arabians, and of these, two seemed insane, one was a gentle sweetheart, and the rest were way smarter than me, and therefore wanted nothing to do with me.  :-\

Most quarter Horses are more laid back than most Arabians., especially if they are purebreed Arabian. Arabians are very high strung and sensitive. Once they get older and they know you and if they were handled properly from a babe they can be very loveable and gentle.

Well, you would need a really skinny behind to ride it.

 ;D ;D ;D that was too funny!!

Kholgirl, i have to agree with you! Although i don't own an Arabian, i am the owner of another hot-blooded horse, a Thoroughbred. And the love the energy and sensitivity of the two breeds. There delicate looks yet strong personalitys are such an honor to be around. Nothing beats going to the barn in the morning and listening to the horses munch on their sweet-smelling oat hay.

I've found that loving horses is different than loving any other hobby. It's not a hobby for us, its a way of life. If i don't have horse **** on my clothes, or hay in my hair and carrot slober on my boots than the day just isn't the same. I get anixious for the chance to get dirty with my animals.

Much love to another horse lover,                       jess

HAHAHAHA!! i said the p-word and it got starred out. how funny...

As a youngster I had Arabians, Thoroughbreds, Morgans, Quarter Horses, Apps one Buckskin with filly and a whole slew of mix breeds. They all had a specail place in my heart but my favorite was a mix breed. It had Quarter Horse, Arabian and some other breeds in it's back ground. He was barely tall enough to classify as a horse and not a pony. He was the gentlest horse I had yet he was always full of energy and raring to go. Sometimes he acted more like a dog always following me around. I would turn him out to pastuer in the summer and when he heard my car coming down the road he would run all the way up to barn waiting for me to get there.

I love horses, but we now live in town and my allergies are severe enough that I don't know if I could ever handle living in the country again.  I don't like taking medications to control my allergies, but even living within the city limits there are years when I have no choice but to take medications to control my allergies.  About a year ago I had a bad allergy attack that turned into sinus infection and that made me very sick for about 3 weeks.

I miss riding horse.  I miss the feel of their soft, vevety noses.  We never had any fancy breeds, but the horses that we had were gentle.  One in particlar would follow us back to the house when the cows and horse got out of the fence.  He was a Paint named was Walter.  Walter would nudge my mom as to say hurry up, your walking too slow or he would sometimes use just his lips to get our attention.  If we told him to stop, his eyes would tear up.  If a child stepped out in front of us, Walter would come to stop as not to hurt the child.  He was an awesome horse and I miss him!!!

My aunt owns several horses. Her favorite was an Appaloosa named Rain.

I like horses but my favorite "farm" pets are chickens. I have several chickens and three ducks. I've raised a few guineas but it's hard to keep them at home.

I couldn't help but laugh a little bit when I read this post. My mother lives in the city limits of a fairly busy and large city. She used to leave feed out for about 10 guineas every day. They just suddenly left or disappeared in some way. They were fun to watch, and we really miss them. I assume that guineas just come and go as they please.

I don't think that I've had an opportunity to welcome you, so WELCOME!

I look forward to reading your posts and having fellowship with you.

i ride horses and i own some as well.

i have to admit that most of mine came to me as rescue cases and it was a challenge at times.

mine are welsh ponies sections A B and C and very loveable now.  i also have a thoroughbred and untill last harvest i had a highland pony that had to be destroyed due to a riding accident
