Title: autumn in Israel....
Post by: twobombs on May 11, 2005, 08:09:51 AM
Mat 24:32  Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

We know that this verse was fullfilled with the 6 days war. The occupied territories became, well... ehm, occupied, and the whole of jerusalem came under Jewish control.

Now with the withdrawal of the Jews from the previous occupied territories we enter into another era for Israel; the leaves that grew in spring (1948-1967) evolved in the summer (1967-2005) are now actually falling off.....

As in:
Jer 8:20  The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.

Who would have thought that matthew 24 not only alludes to the spring and summer but also to the autumn.

Amo 9:15  And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.

Note: both Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashanah are autumn-feasts.

I like to celebrate Rosh Hashana, Israel's new year; a lot of folks believe that was probably the time Jesus was born. We eat a new fruit, one that we haven't had all year, and we dip apples in honey. Sometimes we find a shofar sound clip online and listen. Just a cheap American-style celebration.

Interesting note, here.....according to Jewish sages going back as far as 1100, the expectation among the Jews is for Messiah to come in the year 5766 (Jewish counting).

Do you know what year this is according to the Jewish calendar?

And changes in August to....?

 ;D

Tim Lahaye, don't know him...  is he an author or a theological scolar or what ?
Update: I looked at his website and he's pretrib, and i'm most definately not a pretrib believer

I observe Jewish new year for the last 10 years or so, partly because I believe the rapture will take place on that day sometime in the near future (so it's out of respect [not imminent expectation])

Also because I believe God himself works through this calender; so stuff thats prophecied for 'this or next year' is actually already starting and taking shape from the previous or next Rosh celebration.

The leaves are falling; until tuesday for all jewish people to leave their God given land. This is really not good; I espect a lot of bad stuff happening in and around Israel the coming year. And that is from the next Rosh Hashanah and on.
