Title: New Version Twas the Night Before Christmas
Post by: larrynboys on December 22, 2004, 06:02:01 PM
T'was the night before Christmas in the great USA,
It's people were sleeping it had been a long day.
They were tired of working and wanted some peace,
Hopefully someday this grind would cease.

The children were lying awake in their bed,
The meaning of Christmas was not in their head.
Mom was wrapping presents while Dad let out a sigh,
They had spent too much money their bankroll was dry.

Keeping up with the Jones' was getting harder to do,
The price tags were getting higher the presents were too.
Then out on our lawn I heard this great sound,
I ran to the window you won't believe what I found.

The moon had a glow it was shining so bright,
My eyes were nearly blinded by the most beautiful light.
And what to my awestruck eyes did I see?
But the figure of Jesus who was staring at me.

He brought with Him angels to announce to the earth,
Tomorrow was Christmas the day of His birth.
I stared in amazement my prayers had come true,
I followed the light what else could I do?

He was the essence of love from His head to His feet,
Of all the people on earth He was the one I hoped to meet.
His eyes how they shined, His smile was profound,
There was enough love inside Him to spread the world 'round.

He told me our hearts had hardened with time,
The hour was late the bell would soon chime.
It was time to show kindness we must put down our sword,
To find the meaning of Christmas we must follow the Lord.

His word had been given on a mountain so high,
He loved us so much He was willing to die.
Now it was time for us to follow all He had to say,
Tomorrow was nearing it was almost Christmas Day.

With so little time and so much to do,
The angels had left us around the world they had flew.
With trumpets a blowing they spread the great word,
All over the world this message was heard.

"The King is alive you must all come and see,
The Savior is waiting for you and for me.
If Christmas is to be found you must look in your heart,
The Spirit is inside you, you were never apart.

He gave you His word His love it is free,
If you follow in His footsteps you'll be given eternity.
The sign of the cross still shines from above,
Don't ever forget it, it's the symbol of love.

His body went to Heaven, His Spirit's still here,
Your sins are forgiven you have nothing to fear."
I bowed in His presence I then humbly thought,
This is the greatest gift I could ever have got.

I then heard the angels rejoice as they were soon out of sight,
Singing "Merry Christmas to all who follow His light."
