Title: Columbine Gay?
Post by: Symphony on May 31, 2003, 08:12:52 PM

The Toronto Star is reporting, in an article by a Peter Howell, there, that a new film, Elephant, on the Colorado Columbine school shootings, is being received with "acclaim" at the Cannes Film Festival.

The director, Van Sant, who did Good Will Hunting is portrayed as "openly gay", and that he doesn't want to give any predetermined judgements on the shootings, in the film, preferring, he says,

"I do have my own ideas about why something like Columbine happened, but some of those things aren't really in the film," said Van Sant, measuring his words. "I was really trying to get at more of a poetic impression, and to sort of allow the audience's thoughts into that impression, rather than to dictate an answer or a reason."

Alluding to the rumor that the two shooters were possibly bullied, and were homosexual lovers, "Elephant" portrays the two teenagers in a shower, kissing each other.

Okay, so, does anyone know, is it true, or has it been confirmed, that this was the actual case--i.e., that these two kids were "homosexual lovers"??

If so, could we safely say there's been a media blackout to that effect?

But then, if there's been a media blackout(b/c the media are mostly sympathetic to the gay cause), how would we ever know, except for some underground source??

But then, why else would they storm the school,, shooting their classmates?  Isn't it typical that sexual vice, hates to be discovered or exposed and would therefore react this way??

Plenty of us got picked on in school, maybe even beat up.

I have not heard this story about the teens being "homosexual lovers" but honestly I find that hard to believe. IMO they were extremely disturbed and found some kind of evil power in what they did.

This is just another hollywood ploy to get people to see the movie. And really it just make me sick. Now where would this guy get the info that the two teens were in the shower together??  ::) The guy is making money off of fabricating a tremondous horror is what I think

Yes, thank you, Jodi.

I don't know.  It would certainly fit the whole "psychology", to my mind, if that were in fact the case.  But confirmation would be difficult.

Of course, maybe they were just social "pariahs" anyway.  You don't have to be gay to be a "pariah"--especially in an upscale neighborhood I think like there in Columbine.  All you'd have to be is typecast by your fellows as "different", and that'd be the end of you socially, regardless of what you were or weren't.  So maybe theirs was just that.

Still, plenty of pariahs never react this way.  Maybe that's why Van Sant is portraying it this way, that maybe their gay thing was the whole cause anyway(tho Van Sant himself wouldn't intend us to see it that way).

Plus I haven't heard much media talk about "why" the two did this in the first place.  Of course, they aren't around to say, so that could be the reason there's just silence.

If it were the case though, it would surely point up once again the incredible wickedness of homosexuality, reminding one of the wholesale evil that happened there in Judges 19.  Gays are easily portrayed as victims, who can then just as quickly become the most violent and evil "perps".   Addressing the whole gay issue is beset, to me, with everthing "beastial".  Maybe when that scripture that says the antichrist will have no desire for women--although I don't believe it says, that may be b/c he simply has this insatiable desire for men, in its place, which would make him incrediably vile.  Maybe we can't imagine how evil the antichrist will be, whether he be just a "spirit" or an actual individual; maybe Columbine is a "sign", a horrible one.

In any event, it's all terrible, terrible things.

I see the point you are making and it is one that could be a possibility. But how do we account for all the other school shootings? I don't believe that all of these kids are homosexuals and because of what someone has said...they have gone and killed innocent people. Again...in this case, I believe it all comes down to the "Hollywood" thing, that and money. This would all make for a more interesting twist as to why these boys went crazy!

On a whole the world is full of wickness in this day. Everything is a "feel good" thing. It is not one thing that is causing it....Godless society, pornography, parentless kids left to find their own way. Drugs......You name it, it's out there.

I honestly believe that something evil took over in these young men, consumed them and this is why the horror happened. The homosexual idea just makes for a more interesting story line is all. JMO

The question of their sexual orientation is moot; both are dead now and so are several of their classmates. What all this hysteria has done is give those who wish to trabsform schools into police states (as a first step into transforming the whole nation into one) what they needed; an opening. Hi, goinhome, thank you.  Yes, that could very well be--just Hollywood stuff.  Still, a director to my mind is going out on a limb to portray two real-life individuals a certain way, esp. in a gay way, if there weren't some truth to it--I mean, flak from families could be devastating unless there was known truth to it.  Several years ago the actor Tom Cruise was associated with some gay activity or something and I seem to remember him suing bigtime--he didn't want to be associated with that at all.  So I'm not sure Van Sant would have gone out on such a risky limb, unless there was at least a measure of embarrassing truth to it.  Also, it received an award at that film festival, giving it that much more exposure in the public light.

But your points are well taken.  The violence goes deeper than that, as indicate by all the other shootings that have occurred, as you say.

I'm just thinking through it all.  But this is the first time I've actually seen someone come out and say that hoomosex'y was involved.

Yep, Marc.  I'll try to take a look at those...
