Title: Computer Problems
Post by: Izar on April 25, 2004, 05:02:14 PM
My computer did not connect to the internet until I reinstalled windows. It also did not read drivers correctly, until I reinstalled windows. It then had the same problem this morning, so I reinstalled windows again. That's how i'm on now. Thanks for any help.

Hello Izar,

We need more information (i.e. error messages, blue screens, page faults, etc.). Do you think that you got hit by a virus or a trojan? Could you have hardware worn out (i.e. age of computer). Describe what happens when the computer goes down.

Tom

Nothing else. It just did that. Not old. I'm about to install XP...

But thanks anyways, it seems to work now.

Hiya Izar!

ummmm why are ya installing Windows XP?! I ask this because I use Windows XP Home Edition and love it, however it comes with NT techonogly that defeats some older Windows programs!   FYI!

Definately need way more info than things aren't working for future referance.  I doubt there will be much you need to run that can't run on XP and there are plenty of ways to get them to work through emulation anyhow.

It could be related to registry errors, but if it's working now that your dad's installed XP I wouldn't worry about it so much.

I had to format my HD awhile back due to some viruses, and a bunch of registry errors. Now I don't have any problems with my computer, but I'd avoid formatting if possible.

AHHHHHH! XP home edition is evil. ^_^
If I knew how linux worked I would use that but alas I am forced to use windows because I'm so used to it. :P
If you are going to use XP I would say windows XP Professional is the way to go :) not as bad as home edition *shudders*

Hey goober the only difference between XP Home and Pro is some networking features that most people don't need.

Agreed S4.   I have pro and home on serparate PC's and actually prefer home version.   Pro is obviously better, but only if you know what you're doing.

I dunno... home just feels so different to professional. I don't know why it just... does....
