What Jesus was saying here is that his message about the kingdom of God was being attacked by Satan. And only a few where believing in him. The rest where giving him a hard time even after seeing all his works. You will need to read the rest of the chapter to see this meaning.

God bless

And yes their is a spiritual warfare going on all the time. Daniel had to wait till angels faught with evil principalities sometimes... in order for them to answer his prayers.

Rom 14:17

17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Praise the lord Reba that is correct :) The kingdom of God is within you...and greater is he who is within you, than he that is in the world ;D

This is why Jesus said there be some standing here who will not taste of death till they see me coming in my kingdom. How did they see his kingdom? well the works that i do you shall do also he said.... He filled all things.

Praise the lord... the spiritual kingdom of God is at hand :)

Perhaps Luke says the same thing as Matthew with a better clarity.

Luke 16:16.  The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

The kingdom of Heaven becoming those hearing, believing and obeying the good news of Jesus Christ and being baptized into Christ. Which is known from knowing other words of God.

***Matthew uses words that compares the kingdom of heaven being so desirable that man is wanting to lay hold on it as though an army taking a city by storm or violence, with great strength and thrust. It is the force of those hearts desiring it that take it.***

***Some thoughts are from Matthew Henry's Commentaries put in Ollie's words.

Luke says the kingdom of God is preached and men press into it. Which of course is Christ and His body the church or ecclessia.

I would say the violence is not in Heaven, but a term used to describe how men were pressing into the kingdom and taking it.
