Title: Online Prayer Requests - Please Click for Me?
Post by: ryntrnr on April 01, 2004, 05:59:10 AM
I was wondering what you guys think of online prayer request sites.  I specifically only visit free / not for profit / no advertising ones.  As all of the others seem to want something and I don't trust their privacy policy.  I did find a good one.. www.prayonit.com (http://www.prayonit.com) is age / sex / religion / denomination independant... which I really like.

What do you think about reading prayers to God and then clicking a button to let that person know you prayed for them.  Its all annonymous... but it does feel weird to be praying at a computer screen and all.

Oklahoma Howdy to ryntrnr,

Welcome to Christians Unite.

I tried to look at the prayer request link you have in your first post here. My firewall went crazy, and I couldn't get the page to load. I'm not sure what that means yet.

Tom

maybe basically you're asking what's the difference between praying online for or with someone, and praying for that same person in person.

Yes, it's a good question.  I've wondered about that too.

It basically is asking really, 'Just what IS prayer?'  'Cuz short of laying on of hands, I see little difference between a genuine prayer expressed here, for or with someone, and doing it with them in person.  Actually, I don't see any difference at all.

Fellowship is different.  But for just prayer, I don't see any difference.  And it is work.  Praying for others specifically is work and use of one's time.  But it is communing with the Spirit.  Very rejuvenating.

And it's rejuvenating to be prayed for.

I've been wondering how to answer this post.  The solution just came to me.

Ditto what Symphony said.  :)

He knows our needs before we pray He knows our wants before we ask He knows our hearts always.

Prayer is talking to God not because HE needs to know but because we need to tell Him. Some times the prayer, the words,  we speak are for the the persons being prayed for or just for one who over hears.

Computers, forums, chats, etc., are no suprise to HIM just as  paper or the phone  wasn't. We out of obedience talk to God. His blessings are always what we need.
