IN BRIEF
Lemon and the Leftmedia Race-Bait Hypocrites1

Thomas Gallatin

Sadly, racism is alive and well within much of mainstream media culture today. What may be sadder still is how this racism is actively promoted and promulgated2 as intelligent thinking. The latest example was served up by CNN anchor Don Lemon, who, speaking to Chris Cuomo about the recent Tree of Life synagogue attack3, said, “I keep trying to point out to people — and, not to demonize any one group or any one ethnicity — the biggest terror threat in this country is white men. There is no travel ban on them. There is no ban — you know, they had the Muslim ban. There is no white-guy ban. So what do we do about that?”

Beyond the blatant and almost laughable contradiction Lemon makes in not wanting to “demonize any one group” before he demonizes white men as terror threats, what stands out is his outright racism. In fact, Lemon provided a textbook example of what actual racism looks like — judging an entire group based purely upon the immutable skin color they share in common. (Well, that and their sex assigned at birth.) It doesn’t get any more racist than that.

And yet after being called out for his blatantly racist comments, Lemon doubled down, insisting, “Earlier this week … I said that the biggest terror threat in this country comes from radicals on the far right, primarily white men. That angered some people. But let’s put emotions aside and look at the cold, hard facts. The evidence is overwhelming.” Well, the evidence of Lemon’s racist sentiment is indeed overwhelming, as is his leftist instinct to conflate biology with ideology.

As The Federalist’s David Harsanyi astutely observes4, “A terrorist is a person who uses illegal violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims. [Whiteness] is not a movement. These white men [criminals] have no palpable ideological or philosophical connection. They are not part of a concerted effort. They do not idolize the same people or subscribe to the same set of ideas. They do not share a worldview. Most of them do not kill in the name of ‘whiteness.’ Few of them have a coherent message. I have as much to do with the Pittsburgh shooter as Lemon does.”

Meanwhile, Megyn Kelly was recently fired from NBC for having a discussion about children dressing up for Halloween and the history of blackface. Never mind the fact that she was not seeking to promote racism — she was seeking to understand why the motive of an individual doesn’t seem to matter. That was actually a legitimate point, but since Kelly is the wrong skin color she was put down. But don’t hold your breath waiting for Lemon to be fired.

Warren Surprised by Debate Revelation on Kavanaugh Fundraising5

Nate Jackson

We in our humble shop have enjoyed many a laugh at Elizabeth Warren’s phony claims6 of Native American ancestry. Well, on an unrelated subject, Fauxcahontas stumbled once again this week during a debate with Republican challenger Geoff Diehl.

In an exchange over the disgraceful circus7 of the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, Diehl noted, “Senator Warren was fundraising illegally using the vote on Justice Kavanaugh, the confirmation vote, to try to raise money for her campaigns.”

The Washington Free Beacon elaborates8 on Diehl’s comment: “Diehl was referencing a complaint sent Monday to the Senate Select Committee on Ethics. The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) sent the complaint to Sens. Johnny Isakson (R., Ga.) and Chris Coons (D., Del.), the respective committee chairman and vice chairman. It alleges Warren fundraised based off her intended vote on Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Court. The Senate prohibits ‘linking a promise of official action to a solicitation of campaign contributions.’”

A surprised Warren completely evaded the question, trying to pin Diehl on not condemning Donald Trump for … something. But the moderators weren’t going to let her get off so easily.

“I would like to drill down on what Representative Diehl said — the fundraising while the vote was being taken on the Kavanaugh hearing. Did you or did you not do that?”

“Actually,” Warren haltingly replied, “I don’t know. … I will check into it, but I don’t know.”

For us, this is akin to “Casablanca’s” Captain Renault feigning “shock” at discovering gambling in a casino. Of course Democrats were using their despicable character assassination of Brett Kavanaugh for political (and fundraising) gain. Warren, who is not a member of the Judiciary Committee, joined Democrats who are in this effort.

Even if she’s somehow reprimanded, she’s in no jeopardy of losing her seat. After all, this is a state that reelected Ted Kennedy for 40 years. But it’s also clear from her deer-in-the-headlights response that Warren isn’t ready for prime time if she’s thinking about a presidential bid in 2020.

ALEXANDER’S ANALYSIS
Why They Hate Trump30

By Mark Alexander

In a Wall Street Journal op-ed, “Why they hate Trump31,” David Gelernter, a professor at Yale, offered insights that I found instructive in assessing both Donald Trump32 and his vociferous adversaries.

Gelernter notes, “Every big U.S. election is interesting, but the coming midterms are fascinating for a reason most commentators forget to mention: The Democrats have no issues. The economy is booming and America’s international position is strong. In foreign affairs, the U.S. has remembered in the nick of time what Machiavelli advised princes five centuries ago: Don’t seek to be loved, seek to be feared. The contrast with the Obama years must be painful for any honest leftist. The contrast with the Obama years must be painful for any honest leftist. For future generations, the Kavanaugh fight will stand as a marker of the Democratic Party’s intellectual bankruptcy, the flashing red light on the dashboard that says ‘Empty.’ The Left is beaten.”

While I think the “Blue Wave” has been overstated in the upcoming midterm election, though certainly not to the extent of Hillary Clinton’s33 presumed victory in 2016, if the “Left is beaten,” we would expect to see “Republican Waves” as we did in 201034 and 201435. Indeed, based on the Trump administration’s extraordinary domestic and foreign policy record27, we should see Republican gains in both the Senate and House.

All Americans are MUCH better off today than they were two years ago, but that notwithstanding, Republicans will suffer losses in the House. And here is why: This election is a referendum on Democrat voter IQ and the Demo/MSM36 chokehold on their opinion — not the considerable Trump record. The result of that chokehold and Demo voter delusion37 is, as Gelernter notes, one political theme: “We hate Trump.” All the Left has to offer is fear, anger, hate, and division38.

Indeed, Gelernter observes, “What the left hates about Donald Trump is precisely what it hates about America.” They fear him because, “He has no ideology except getting the job done. His goals are to do the task before him, not be pushed around, and otherwise to enjoy life. In short, he is a typical American — except exaggerated, because he has no constraints to cramp his style except the ones he himself invents.”

Gelernter writes, “Mr. Trump reminds us who the average American really is. Not the average male American, or the average white American. We know for sure that, come 2020, intellectuals will be dumbfounded at the number of women and blacks who will vote for Mr. Trump. He might be realigning the political map: plain average Americans of every type vs. fancy ones.”

He concludes, “This all leads to an important question — one that will be dismissed indignantly today, but not by historians in the long run: Is it possible to hate Donald Trump but not the average American?”

At their core, Beltway Democrats, their Leftmedia publicists, and their wealthy elitist benefactors39 don’t like grassroots Americans40 and the Liberty41 they embrace. Unfortunately in this election cycle, we will learn how many Americans are not able to rise above the fear and hatred fomented by the Left.

OPINION IN BRIEF

Ed Feulner: “Consider what Marc McGovern, mayor of Cambridge, Mass., says: ‘Every one of these people [in the caravan] are coming from a real fear. These are refugees. These are people who really are facing real problems, and we have to let them through.’ Some people may find themselves swayed by this emotional appeal, but it’s dangerous. Our nation has specific laws in place when it comes to asylum — laws that are typically reserved for instances of state-based repression. Is that the case here? Maybe, but the point is that we have procedures in place to carefully determine such things. We don’t simply say, ‘Aww, those poor people. Just let them in.’ Mr. McGovern and others can say what they want, content to score political points because they’re publicly opposing President Trump. But immigration officials can’t worry about being fashionable, or politically correct. They’re required by law to put the safety of Americans first. The irony is, Mr. Trump’s critics don’t even seem to consider that South American left-wing parties may be manipulating the poor people in this migrant caravan.”

SHORT CUTS

For the record: “After every horrible mass shooting … there’s an immediate rush to make sure conservatives know they do not belong to that wider American community feeling the pain. Worse, there’s a constant allusion to the fact that those on the right are responsible for the slaughter. Republicans spend the time following these attacks not in mourning like they should be but beating back the sickening idea that they inspired the shooter.” —Karol Markowicz

The Trump appeal: “If President Obama can get DACA approved … we can do this by executive order.” —Donald Trump on his idea of an executive order rescinding birthright citizenship for illegals46

Non Compos Mentis I: “I think when we win, you will see evidence of [civility]. Because when we do win … we will honor the vows of our founders, E pluribus unum, from many one.” —Senate Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)

Non Compos Mentis II: “The research here is clear. Restricting abortion access doesn’t just harm women. It harms their children as well.” —abortion lobbying giant NARAL

From rational to anti-sovereign-nation fanatic: “In 199347, around the time Donald Trump was gobbling up tax-free inheritance money from his wealthy father and driving several companies into bankruptcy, I made a mistake. After I proposed that awful bill, my wife Landra immediately sat me down and said, ‘Harry, what are you doing? Don’t you know that my father is an immigrant?’ She set me straight. And in my 36 years in Washington, there is no more valuable lesson I learned than the strength and power of immigrants and no issue I worked harder on than fixing our immigration system.” —former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV)

And last… “If Democrats and media believe, as they asserted for weeks, that Kavanaugh ran a secret gang rape cartel, why’d their investigation stop the very second he secured enough votes for confirmation?” —Sean Davis
