ALEXANDER’S ANALYSIS
Politicizing and Profiting on Hate: From Bomb Threats to Slaughtering Innocents1

Mark Alexander

Last Friday, Cesar Sayoc, a Democrat-hating sociopath2 who drives a vehicle plastered with pro-Trump and anti-Democrat stickers, was arrested in Florida. He is the prime suspect who sent what I noted Thursday were likely inert mail bomb packages3 to 14 Democrat notables. As I wrote, “Given the amateurish construction, packaging, and delivery method, tracking down the threat package maker(s) will be swift.” And it was.

As I also noted, “To be clear, whether or not these devices were intended to detonate or disrupt, this is, by definition, an act of terrorism [as was] the case with the envelopes laced with the deadly toxin ricin, sent to the Pentagon and White House three weeks ago.” It is curious that there has been no information about whether the mail packages were intended to harm or a hoax intended to make headlines.

Tragically, over the weekend, there was hateful bloodshed. A self-styled neo-Nazi sociopath, Robert Bowers4, murdered 11 mostly elderly innocents5 at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. According to reports, he may have been inspired in part because Donald Trump6 is the most PRO-Israel president since Ronald Reagan. As you recall, in May Trump boldly made good on a 23-year-old American commitment to move our embassy7 to Jerusalem.

Bowers reportedly yelled, “All Jews must die!” as he entered the synagogue, reminiscent of the much more frequently heard declaration “Allahu Akbar8” when Islamists are slaughtering innocents.

The leftist publication Slate declared, “Bowers made his hatred of Trump clear” — he believed “Trump was under the control of Jews, who are out to destroy Western civilization.” Reuters reported that Bowers “is a registered voter with ‘no affiliation’ who took aim [at] Donald Trump, accusing him of being a ‘globalist’ who did nothing to stop the ‘infestation’ of the United States by Jews.”

“Trump is a globalist, not a nationalist,” Bowers wrote on his social-media page prior to the assault. “There is no #MAGA as long as there is a kike infestation.” He also wrote, “For the record, I did not vote for him nor have I owned, worn or even touched a MAGA hat.”

There are on average more than 40 homicides every day9 in America, disproportionately black-on-black attacks in Democrat-controlled urban centers10 — the direct result of generations of leftist social policies. And those murder rates continue to rise11 because of those policies.

But the mass murder of a group of 11 people who have no connection to drug or gang violence, innocents targeted solely because of their faith, should inspire profound and universal righteous indignation in all of us. It should be one of those moments when we come together as a nation to universally condemn such hatred.

That notwithstanding, predictably, before the blood of these precious souls was dry, leftist politicos12 and their Leftmedia outlets13 were scheming how to politicize and profiteer from this tragedy. Unfortunately, all the Left has to offer is a platform of fear, hate, and division14.“

Beyond the knee-jerk calls for gun control15, two political narratives have emerged about the Pittsburgh assailant’s motives.

First is that he is a "right wing” neo-Nazi.

This characterization is correct, except for the commonly misunderstood “right wing” part. Today’s Democrat socialists16 don’t object to the increasingly violent so-called “antifa movement17” of self-proclaimed anti-fascist fascists, but they like to claim that sociopathic Nazis and other seditionist and anarchist groups are “right wing.” That may fit nicely into their politicized sound bites, but seditionists and anarchists, whose primary political goal is to overthrow our government, are by definition “leftist.”

That being said, there is no question that Bowers’s hatred was inspired by Nazism and the anti-Semitic rhetoric of Adolf Hitler’s National Socialist German Workers’ Party.

The second political/MSM narrative is an attempt to pivot the motive for his violence to the approaching “caravasion18,” the caravan of migrants organized and supported by leftist groups. They are now passing through Mexico, intent on forcing their way across the U.S. border — which is an invasion, despite the fact that most of these migrants are opportunists looking to better their lives. The MSM points to a recent post by Bowers claiming HIAS, a Jewish refugee agency, is behind the march. According to Bowers’s deluded perspective, “HIAS likes to bring invaders in that kill our people. I can’t sit by and watch my people get slaughtered. Screw your optics, I’m going in.”

But again, this is not rooted in Bowers’s concern about migrants; it is rooted in his anti-Semitic delusion that the organization of the caravan is a Jewish conspiracy.

Both of these narratives more closely reflect the anti-Semitic rhetoric19 of Democrat Party allies, including anti-Israel activist Linda Sarsour and Nation of Islam founder Louis Farrakhan. Regarding the latter, John Kass wrote in the Chicago Tribune20, “Few if any Democratic voices are being raised against Farrakhan. The Congressional Black Caucus certainly won’t condemn him. And white Democrats aren’t demanding condemnation either. They don’t want to risk losing votes. This silence is dangerous.”

Bowers has been charged with numerous federal crimes, including 11 counts of Obstruction of Exercise of Religious Beliefs Resulting in Death, 11 counts of Use of a Firearm to Commit Murder During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence, and four counts of Obstruction of Exercise of Religious Beliefs Resulting in Bodily Injury to a Public Safety Officer.

President Trump and federal prosecutors are calling for his execution if found guilty21. The Left will likely object…

A final note on the hate profiteers, those other than the MSM profiteers whose market share and ad revenues depend on sensationalism. As I anticipated when first hearing about the Bowers assault Saturday, within hours, a reflexive fundraising response hit my inbox from the left-wing SPLC22, the nation’s most profitable hate-hustling “civil rights” group. In its fundraising “special edition,” the SPLC regurgitated more of its leftist rhetoric.

SPLC has an “endowment” of $320 million and in the most recent year of record, the organization listed revenue in excess of $58 million. So my question for the SPLC: The Pittsburgh assailant had a long history of racist rhetoric and activities — did the SPLC spend one dime of its endowment and revenues identifying this hater and reporting him to law enforcement authorities? Of course not.

IN BRIEF
Ginsburg Blames Congress for Polarized Judicial Process23

Thomas Gallatin

The oldest justice on the Supreme Court has made a habit of publicly airing her political opinions, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg is at it again24. Alluding to the recent partisan fight in the Senate to confirm Justice Brett Kavanaugh25, Ginsburg lamented the polarization of the judicial confirmation process, assigning the blame to Congress. “To me,” she said, “the obvious culprit is Congress.” Well, as the saying goes, when you point one finger at others, there are three pointing back at you. Or, as Jesus said, “You hypocrite! First pull the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother’s eye.” (Matt 7:5)

It’s true that the Senate bears much responsibility for the partisan circus that is judicial nominations. But Ginsburg misses two huge points. For one thing, it was Democrats in the 1987 Robert Bork hearings who so outrageously character assassinated Bork that his last name became a verb to describe such vicious personal attacks. In 1992, Clarence Thomas suffered what he called a “high-tech lynching.” Democrats merely continued that “heritage” with their vile assault on Kavanaugh.

But the primary reason the judicial confirmation process has become such a polarizing issue is because of activist judges on the courts. Activist judges — like Ginsburg — are the very judicial despots26 Thomas Jefferson warned about. They see their role as a means to further their own political agenda rather than to be informed by and limited in their judgements to the text of Constitution and the law. In other words, Ginsburg assigns blame solely to Congress, which by constitutional design is to be the most partisan branch of government, while ignoring her own outsized role in helping to foster an increasingly politicized Supreme Court.

Even at the advanced age of 85, Ginsburg has yet to learn the wisdom of when to be silent. By expressing her political opinions in both public comments and rulings, she has done more to cause Americans to question the nature of the Supreme Court’s supposedly apolitical standard than the words of President Donald Trump or any member of Congress ever will.

OPINION IN BRIEF

Burt Prelutsky: “Because of recent events involving Brett Kavanaugh, [this joke] has taken on a new relevance. The wedding ceremony had reached the point where the minister asked the gathering if anyone had reason to object to the joining of the bride and groom in holy matrimony. At which point a beautiful woman holding a baby stood up at the rear of the church and started walking slowly up the aisle. The witnesses gasped. The groom’s jaw dropped and he stared in shock as the woman came closer. Chaos ensued. The bride dropped her bouquet and ran crying from the church. The groom’s mother fainted. The bride’s father balled his hands into fists and began to cuss out his no longer future son-in-law. Only the minister maintained his calm and quietly asked the woman: ‘Why have you come forward? What have you to say?’ ‘I just wanted to let you know we can’t hear you in the back.’ And that … illustrates what happens when people are considered guilty until proven innocent.”

SHORT CUTS

The Gipper: “Those who say that we’re in a time when there are no heroes, they just don’t know where to look.”

Upright: “It almost inevitably is the case that people have the strongest feelings about the things they know the least about; people who actually know about any subject of genuine interest understand that such subjects tend to be complicated, and that expressions of outrage, however cathartic, do not render them any less recondite.” —Kevin Williamson

For the record: “The truth is the spectrum of violent behavior runs from the far-left extreme of the Bernie Sanders-supporting shooter at an Alexandria baseball field to last week’s mailing of pipe bombs to prominent Democrats to Saturday’s stomach-turning massacre at a Pittsburgh synagogue by a Trump-hating neo-Nazi, which made an already awful week even worse. That is the whole range of criminality at the fringes of American politics, a left-right full spectrum of angry, hate-filled obsessives.” —Hugh Hewitt

Political futures: “I’d like to be president.” —serial presidential failure Hillary Clinton

Missing the forest for the trees: “Dear America, I know this is a crazy idea from an ignorant foreigner — but why don’t you just TRY giving up some of your guns, to see what happens? Start with the AR-15, which is now used in almost every mass shooting.” —Piers Morgan

Braying Jenny: “There were armed guards at Columbine, Virginia Tech, Pulse, the high schools in Parkland and Santa Fe, and on and on. A deranged civilian with an AR-15 and a death wish will always overpower security guards. The @NRA wants us to continue escalating this arms race.” —Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts

I.e., “believe the ones we don’t kill”: “We still believe Julie Swetnick. #BelieveSurvivors” —Planned Parenthood Action

And last… “It was ironic to see many of the same liberals, who recently fought to prop up the world’s most powerful Jew-hating terror state, lecturing us on the importance of combating anti-Semitism. But there they were yesterday.” —David Harsanyi
