FEATURED ANALYSIS
Kavanaugh Case Reveals Demo Strategy for Whole Judiciary1

Nate Jackson

Is this how our judicial system will die?

As things stand in the he said/she said debacle once known as the confirmation hearings for Brett Kavanaugh to take a seat on the Supreme Court, Democrats maintain that Kavanaugh is “guilty until proven innocent” of alleged sexual assault when he was 17. Joe Biden, who orchestrated the Anita Hill character assassination of Clarence Thomas in 1991, insisted that “you’ve got to start off with the presumption … of what she’s talking about is real, whether or not she forgets facts.” Other Democrats, including Hillary Clinton (!), argue likewise. For her part, Hill contended2 in a New York Times op-ed that Kavanaugh “has the burden of persuasion.”

All the while, the accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, is refusing to testify in the Senate until an FBI investigation is conducted. Her attorney, Democrat activist Debra Katz, first declared that Ford was “willing to do whatever it takes to get her story forth.” Republicans took her up on the offer, and now another attorney, Lisa Banks, laughably asserts that Ford testifying this soon would be “contrary to the Committee discovering the truth.”

By the way, the FBI, which has already conducted six background checks on Kavanaugh, has no jurisdiction with this allegation because it isn’t a federal crime.

Moreover, Georgetown law professor Jonathan Turley (a Democrat) observes: “Ford’s demand is, to put it simply, out of line. … There is no precedent for a quid pro quo demand for testimony by a witness. … There are basic principles of due process that establish a right to be heard, not a right to be believed.”

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) wrote in a letter3 to Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), the corrupt choreographer of this cynical charade, that the committee “has extended invitations to Dr. Ford and Judge Kavanaugh to testify on Monday, September 24. They have until this Friday at 10:00 a.m. to let us know whether they are coming.”

As for the merits of the case, we’re not necessarily arguing who’s right. Ford may be correct that Kavanaugh attempted a drunken assault on her in 1982. Men are known to have done such things while under the influence. A classmate of hers said she “heard a buzz about it” at the time and the “incident did happen.” But then she admitted, “I do not have first hand knowledge” and deleted her original Facebook post.

Or it may be as it appears — the 11th-hour staged takedown of Donald Trump’s SCOTUS pick by a Bernie Sanders-supporting leftist. Kavanaugh categorically denies the allegation, as do two of the other three boys supposedly at the “gathering.”

Perhaps the truth is somewhere in the middle. Either way, our judicial system is set up to handle those questions. The court of public opinion is not. There is no due process in the court of public opinion, which is precisely why Democrats want to try this case there. Indeed, Democrats have very cynically and very successfully used the latter to subvert the former.

As Mark Alexander wrote yesterday4, “The accusations will, as was the case with late accusations against Justice Clarence Thomas, follow Kavanaugh to his grave, whether appointed or not.” In other words, if Kavanaugh is confirmed, every opinion he writes — particularly those dealing with “women’s issues” — will be tarnished in the eyes of many Americans5.

Why does that matter? Because leftists have weaponized the American judiciary to achieve their ends. Can’t persuade a majority in the states to legalize abortion? Have seven black-robed despots create a “right” out of thin air. Fail to win the argument about same-sex marriage on the merits? Have five justices do it for you. And the list goes on.

Furthermore, Democrats want Americans to view all legal cases as leftists’ preferred victims battling some powerful, corporate, white, conservative menace. The merits don’t matter; the “victim’s” identity group does. And Kavanaugh is the worst kind of person — a conservative white man.

Democrats want to subvert Rule of Law with the rule of men. Or in this case, rule of angry women.

IN BRIEF
Trump Encourages While Visiting Florence-Ravaged Carolinas6

Thomas Gallatin

With all the focus on the circus4 surrounding Brett Kavanaugh’s SCOTUS confirmation process, it might be easy to forget that people in the Carolinas are still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Florence, particularly the devastating flooding. President Donald Trump hasn’t forgotten, as he visited Wednesday to survey the damage and offer his support and encouragement to those suffering from the storm, as well as to those working around the clock to help in restoration and repair efforts.

At a Marine Corps air station in Havelock, North Carolina, Trump expressed both his sympathy and commitment to the victims of the storm: “Hurricane Florence was one of the most powerful storms to ever hit the Carolinas. … To the families who have lost loved ones, America grieves with you, and our hearts break for you. God bless you. We will never forget your loss. We will never leave your side. We’re with you all the way. And to all those impacted by this terrible storm, our entire American family is with you and ready to help. And you will recover.”

Trump also spent time at a shelter passing out meals, greeting people, and offering words of encouragement to individuals recovering from the epic flooding.

Sadly, the death toll from Florence has risen to 35, and with continued flooding may rise further. Thankfully, the coordinated efforts of private citizens in conjunction with federal, state, and local authorities have gone a long way in helping to limit the loss of life.

Trump’s response to the storm has been, well, presidential. Unfortunately, the Leftmedia is still too caught up in its own intellectually debilitating Trump Derangement Syndrome7 to recognize how making a light-hearted joke in a devastatingly difficult situation is a legitimate form of empathy. On Wednesday, The Washington Post criticized8 Trump for supposedly lacking empathy when he joked with a man about a boat that ended up in his yard after Florence’s flood waters. “Is this your boat? Or … did it become your boat?” Trump teased. The man replied in the negative, to which Trump quipped with a smile, “At least you got a nice boat out of the deal.” Evidently, humorless leftists like those at the Post must be unfamiliar with that old adage: Laughter is the best medicine.

March for Our Lives Cofounder Becomes Enlightened9

Jordan Candler

Gun controllers are tenacious. It’s exhausting at times reasoning with people who fall into the emotional pitfall of issues like gun control because, unfortunately, feelings recurrently transcend rationality. Impressionable youth are perpetually targeted10 with Democrat-forged exploits and manipulation in the tragic aftermath of incidents like the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida. So it’s extremely rare and immensely refreshing that a March for Our Lives cofounder is undergoing some major self-evaluation, admitting that maybe public policy shouldn’t be determined by uninformed teenagers.

The Daily Wire reports11, “Cameron Kasky told Fox News radio on Wednesday that he has left the organization that he helped create and that he has regrets about some of the things that he has said since he entered the public spotlight.” Kasky, you’ll recall, was praised by leftists for going after Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) at a town hall gathering shortly after the shooting. He now says “that was my biggest flaw.” He’s even pursuing reconciliation. “Kasky said he would redo the conversation that he had with Rubio and that he has plans to meet with him next month where he’ll bring up how he spoke to him during the town hall event,” according to the Wire.

Kasky went on to say:

This summer when March for Our Lives went on … tour … I met that person in Texas who’s got that semiautomatic weapon because that’s how they like to protect their family. I met the 50-some-odd-percent of woman who are pro-life, even though I thought it was preposterous that a woman could be pro-life and not pro-choice at the time. I learned that a lot of our issues politically come from a lack of understanding of other perspectives and also the fact that so often young conservatives and young liberals will go into debate, like I said earlier, trying to beat the other one as opposed to come to an agreement.

The Wire also notes that Kasky will “start a new podcast called ‘Cameron Knows Nothing,’ where he will host discussions with people on both sides of the political spectrum on current political issues.” This is what maturity looks like — not the egregious grandstanding of ignorant adolescents like David Hogg. And unlike Hogg, Kasky deserves credit for his open-mindedness — even if the media will uplift only one of them as a role model.

Concealed-Carry Permit Holder Praised for Helping Police in Shootout27
A man with a concealed-carry license was commended for coming to the aid of Cicero police who were engaged in a shootout with a man who shot and wounded an officer near the Stevenson Expressway Thursday, authorities said. Cicero Police Officer Luis Duarte, 31, was shot four times during the encounter near the 4200 block of South Cicero Avenue during the evening rush hour, but it might have been worse if the armed citizen hadn’t stepped in, officials said.

OPINION IN BRIEF

Gary Bauer: “While [Lisa Page and Peter Strzok] were convinced that Trump would not be elected, they nevertheless concluded that too much was at stake. So they needed an insurance policy to destroy his presidency, just in case. That was a fake narrative of Russian collusion. I believe this uproar over a 36-year-old accusation is evidence of another ‘insurance policy.’ Democrats lied about what Kavanaugh said. They leaked information. They encouraged thugs to disrupt the hearings. Now, when all else has failed, they come up with a decades-old charge to besmirch a good man and embarrass his family. Shame!”

SHORT CUTS

Upright: “Even liberals should concede that in America one is innocent until proven guilty. Particularly with 36-year-old allegations that are impossible to corroborate.” —Star Parker

Shut up, she explained: “Guess who’s perpetuating all these kinds of actions? It’s the men in this country. And I just want to say to the men in this country, just shut up and step up. Do the right thing. For a change.” —Sen. Maize Hirono (D-HI)

Gross hypocrisy: “There can’t be one set of rules for Democrats and one set of rules for Republicans. … I remember back in the Thomas hearing when Senator Bird was asked what he was going to do, and he said in a situation like this we should give the benefit of the doubt to the court and the country. And that’s what the Republicans should be doing right now. … And that means have an investigation that will then lead to a hearing that will then lead to a vote if appropriate.” —Hillary Clinton, wife and fierce defender of a serial adulterer and accused rapist

Non Compos Mentis: “I think the man [Trump] is an evil genius and he was able to outsmart the smartest person ever to run for president. He figured out how to win by losing the election. How did that happen? Historians are going to deal with this for years to come.” —Michael Moore (It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that marginalizing half the country isn’t a winning strategy. Which makes Hillary perhaps the dumbest person to ever run for president.)

The BIG Lie: “[Russia probe declassification36] is an especially dangerous abuse of power by this President. He places his self interest above the national security interests of the country.” —ex-Attorney General Eric Holder (who, by the way, was held in contempt)

And last… “The role of the press should be verification, not validation. Rape is a devastating crime. So is lying about it. It’s not victim blaming to get to the bottom of the truth. It’s liar-shaming. Don’t believe a gender. Believe evidence.” —Michelle Malkin
