IN BRIEF

Dems Ratchet Up the Hate Rhetoric Against Trump1

Nate Jackson

“Tolerant” leftists are at it again. This time, the owner of the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Virginia, threw out2 White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her family on “moral grounds” and to uphold “certain standards.” In fact, it was solely because Sanders works for President Donald Trump. Sanders recounted, “I politely left. Her actions say far more about her than about me. I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so.”

The same cannot be said for far too many rabid leftists these days. Remember when these folks were called “liberals”?

The incident comes just days after Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was heckled out of a DC restaurant by a Justice Department socialist and her cronies3. Speaking of Nielson, protesters besieged her home Friday, chanting “no justice, no sleep,” while using loudspeakers to blare the cries of detained children. And The Daily Wire reports4, “Other DHS employees were warned that there have been credible threats made against both them and their children in a system-wide email that also went out this weekend from the department’s deputy secretary, which also included a list of emergency services and security protocols along with information on how to access the department’s security force.”

Meanwhile, antifa5 celebrated the release of personal information for 1,595 U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement employees.

Last Wednesday, actor Peter Fonda declared that Trump’s 12-year-old son, Barron, should be “thrown into a cage with pedophiles.” So apparently threatening children is now standard leftist operating procedure.

Why? Because Democrats are fomenting the phony outrage for political gain6, and because the Leftmedia is working to paint Trump, his administration and even ICE and Border Patrol agents as Nazis — sometimes literally7.

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) led the charge over the weekend, declaring in yet another impeachment/immigration rally, “God is on our side!” Not only that, but the aforementioned protesters are doing the right thing. Waters shouted, “If you see anybody from [Trump’s] Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd! And you push back on them! And you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere!”

If Democrats aren’t careful, their hateful and overheated rhetoric is going to yield more than protests and loudspeakers. Somebody’s going to get killed. A socialist already attempted to murder8 congressional Republicans last year. Perhaps the Secret Service should pay Waters a visit.

Evidently, Democrats and their allies are convinced that doubling down on Hillary Clinton’s “basket of deplorables9” remark from 2016 is the way to election victories in 2018 and 2020. We’d suggest that it’s actually the way to make sure Trump wins reelection.

Immediate Deportation of Illegal Aliens?10

Thomas Gallatin

In the midst of the Demo/MSM-created anti-Trump immigration media blitz6 over President Donald Trump’s effort to enforce our nation’s immigration and border laws, specifically over the issue of separating children from parents who have been caught illegally crossing the border, Trump signed an executive order11 to change the separation policy. At the same time, he doubled down on his commitment to enforce the border laws by insisting that illegal alien families would be detained together but not released until their cases have been adjudicated. This stance quickly triggered more howls of outrage from the self-proclaimed arbiters of “morality” within the Democrat Party and the MSM.

On Sunday, Trump responded, “We cannot allow all of these people to invade our Country. When somebody comes in, we must immediately, with no Judge or Court Cases, bring them back from where they came. Our system is a mockery to good immigration policy and Law and Order. Most children come without parents.” He added, “Cannot accept all of the people trying to break into our Country. Strong Border, No Crime!”

Trump’s talk of illegal aliens “invading” the U.S. is not hyperbole, either. Hard-left Mexican presidential candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador is actively calling for migrants to flood the U.S., saying recently that migrants “must leave their towns and find a life in the United States.” He added, “We will defend all the migrants in the American continent and all the migrants in the world.” Obrador is well ahead in the polls, making him the odds-on favorite to win the Mexican presidency in July.

One of the growing problems for the Trump administration is how to deal with the immense volume of asylum requests that is straining the courts’ ability to handle them in a timely manner. The reality on the ground is that when people are caught illegally crossing the border, they often then make asylum requests. They’re likely coached to do so, because they instigate a process that will be tied up in the courts for months, if not years — all while they remain in the U.S.

Emily Zanotti of The Daily Wire explains12, “The Obama Administration would often give each asylum seeker a court date and allow them to remain in the U.S. with friends or family members, a policy often called ‘catch-and-release.’ The Trump administration has been detaining asylum seekers, but now that they must detain families together, they run up against the infamous Flores decision, which mandates that the U.S. cannot keep children detained with their parents for more than 20 days.”

What Trump did over the weekend was say that, rather than detain families and be confronted with the separation conundrum, he’d prefer to just deport them immediately.

Meanwhile, on Friday, Trump highlighted the gravity of the illegal immigration problem by honoring Angel Families, a group of families who are victims of crimes committed by illegal aliens. Trump stated, “We’re gathered today to hear directly from the American victims of illegal immigration. … These are the American citizens permanently separated from their loved ones — the word ‘permanently’ being the word that you have to think about — permanently. They’re not separated for a day or two. These are permanently separated, because they were killed by criminal illegal aliens. These are the families the media ignores.” And they’re ignored because they don’t serve the Democrat Narrative™.

FEATURED ANALYSIS
Selective Separation Anxiety31

Robin Smith

We wonder what the black community thinks listening to the wailing expressed by Democrats over the newest crisis involving the “rights” of people illegally crossing the southern border6. You know, the same blacks who’ve been the bedrock voter bloc for Democrats since Lyndon B. Johnson promised32 he’d use the supposed War on Poverty to “have those n—gers voting Democratic for the next 200 years.” In reality, his income redistribution scheme to “end poverty” demolished the intact families of many in the black community and caused poverty in numerous forms.

How long have Americans been told that Congress and the president were going to produce “comprehensive” immigration reform? That campaign promise goes back to the amnesty given to three million illegal immigrants by President Ronald Reagan, who signed the Immigrant Reform and Control Act of 1986. The border security Democrats promised in return never materialized.

Fast-forward four presidents and 32 years through promises, pledges and pontifications of both Democrats and Republicans about the issue — the need to secure the southern border and the priority of a legal immigration system — and there’s nothing to show for it. This yielded President Donald Trump, who was elected primarily because of his tough stance on America’s laughable legal immigration enforcement with the help, surprisingly, of more black voters than GOP nominees in 2008 and 2012.

Huh? More black voters supported Donald Trump — the guy who’s supposedly a racist, sexist, bigoted, homophobe, unstable “Hitler”?! Yep. Even in November 2016, a larger number of black voters had become “woke” to the reality that they were being shelved by Democrats, to whom they’ve been loyal for almost six decades, in exchange for a more in vogue victim group — illegal immigrants.

It’s so “yesterday” for Democrats to care for the troubles of blacks when an entire new group of potential voters needs victimhood status to fulfill the standard practice of identity politics in the Left’s playbook. With the Russian scandal not panning out and the economy roaring33, a new crisis is needed. Thus the emotional uproar over children temporarily removed from their parents after illegally crossing the border.

Meanwhile, for blacks who live in this nation legally, things are very bad. According to the National Center for Fathering, 58% of black children live “absent their biological father,” compared to 33.7% of all children nationally. In 2012, according to the CDC, 73% of black children were born out of wedlock. The sudden worry that children’s best interests are served when with their parent is pretty interesting, especially given that Democrat policies destroyed the black family. How? By making dads unnecessary. In fact, the government pays women to have children out of wedlock. Are we surprised when that happens more?

And don’t forget that Democrats oppose empowering black parents whose children are trapped in failing schools to have other options through school choice. Worse, Democrats have actually defunded successful programs, like Washington, DC’s Opportunity Scholarship Program that served almost exclusively poor Hispanic and black kids. It’s also Democrats who attack law enforcement and gin up racial tension instead of addressing rampant black-on-black crime and violence that is destroying cities like Chicago and Baltimore. Where needed most, law enforcement efforts have been minimized and rendered less effective due to the “Ferguson Effect34” that cultivates an unhealthy environment for law and order.

Why are these items important to mention in recognizing that blacks are the forgotten friends of Democrats? In an October 2016 campaign speech, Trump addressed an audience in Toledo, Ohio, with remarks that included a plan for the black community that included “safe communities, great education and high-paying jobs” with a challenge to black voters: “What do you have to lose?35”

With May’s unemployment rate for blacks at a historic low of 5.9%, Trump is delivering on this key promise. Blacks may be reluctant to vote Republican when Democrats are still screaming “racist!” at each one they see, but blacks compare how they’ve fared under Democrats versus Republicans.

Two other areas Trump is also tackling that have significant impact on the black community are criminal justice reform36 and abortion. One in nine black children has had a parent in prison. Clearly, children, due to no fault of their own, are separated from their parents because of their parents’ poor choices. Further, Dr. Alveda King has observed that since 1973’s Roe v. Wade, the black population has been reduced by about a fourth due to abortion. A black child is three times more likely to be aborted in the womb than a white baby.

The examples of selective separation anxiety are too numerous to cite, yet a fact has emerged. Democrats have overpromised and overreached for half a century with very little to show to blacks for their loyalty.

OPINION IN BRIEF

Hans von Spakovsky: “The mission statement of the FBI recognizes its duty to ‘combat public corruption at all levels’ and to carry out its ‘responsibilities in a manner that is responsive to the needs of the public and is faithful to the Constitution of the United States.’ Fighting corruption ‘at all levels’ includes, most importantly, fighting corruption inside the FBI to avoid such corruption tainting its investigations, hurting innocent individuals, and making the American people doubt that they can trust the objectivity and ethics of the FBI. This requires the FBI to act quickly and decisively when it discovers corruption, which includes unethical and unprofessional behavior — not wait months or even years. So it is a good thing that the FBI leadership has finally acted to begin a process that will hopefully result in the firing of [Peter] Strzok. But if the FBI wants to restore its reputation and repair the enormous damage it has suffered to its credibility, then it has to act faster and more comprehensively with regard to all of the wrongdoing it has discovered by its personnel, including that revealed by the inspector general’s report. Otherwise, the bureaucracy will simply shrug its shoulders and continue on a downward path that destroys the effectiveness of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. And no one — except for criminals, terrorists, and other wrongdoers — wants that to happen.”

SHORT CUTS

The Gipper: “Government is like a baby. It is an alimentary canal with an appetite at one end and a no sense of responsibility at the other.”

For the record: “Without a doubt the images, and the reality, from 2014, just like 2018, are not pretty. And so we expanded family detention. … I freely admit it was controversial. We believed it was necessary at the time. I still believe it is necessary to remain a certain capability for families.” —Obama DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson

Upright: “We cannot have a system of catch and release. We are a sovereign nation. We have to secure our borders. And so we just simply cannot have a situation where people are apprehended, they’re released, they don’t return to court, and they know they’re able to do that.” —Jeh Johnson

Do as I say, not as I do: “Are we a nation that accepts the cruelty of ripping children from their parents’ arms, or are we a nation that values families and works to keep them together? Do we look away, or do we choose to see something of ourselves and our children?” —Barack Obama

Dezinformatsiya: “The June 12 photograph of the 2-year-old Honduran girl became the most visible symbol of the ongoing immigration debate in America for a reason. Under the policy enforced by the administration, prior to its reversal this week, those who crossed the border illegally were criminally prosecuted, which in turn resulted in the separation of children and parents. Our cover and our reporting capture the stakes of this moment.” —a Time magazine spokesman defending the rag’s phony cover photoshop22

Alpha Jackass: “Abortion to avoid birth defects is not about eugenics. It’s about the avoidance of individual human suffering.” —Richard Dawkins

And last… “In our country, there are 2.7 million children separated from parents who are currently incarcerated in American prisons. Their story is not less worthy of notice. One in nine black children has a parent in prison. Is that inequality not sympathetic enough? And what about children who are separated from their parents by illness, death, or economic troubles?” —Rev. William Owens
