The Patriot Post® · Who Funded the Fake Trump/Putin Dossier?

By Mark Alexander · Aug. 2, 2017 · https://patriotpost.us/alexander/50565

“There is but one straight course, and that is to seek truth and pursue it steadily.” —George Washington1 (1795)

In case you missed it, the Democrat Party2 and its mainstream media machine has focused all their resources this week on the emerging criminal conspiracy3 between former DNC chief Debbie Wasserman Schultz and her IT expert, Imran Awan, et al.

Just kidding.

They actually focused all their 24/7 print and bandwidth on the fact that the House Judiciary Committee formally requested that Attorney General Jeff Sessions investigate Barack Obama4‘s AG Loretta Lynch5, Obama’s FBI director James Comey6, and of course Obama’s Secretary of State Hillary Clinton7 and her criminal co-conspirator Bill Clinton8.

Just kidding.

Of course, The New York Times and The Washington Post, along with all their Demo download media outlets, remain totally focused on their delusional Trump/Putin collusion illusion, the fake news9 farce they have been proliferating, ad nauseam, since President Donald Trump10 took office.

But some Democrats are quietly retreating from the Trump/Putin front because of the increasing risk that the fraudulent charade will ricochet.

Why would it backfire?

Because of Glenn Simpson and company.

Simpson is co-founder of Fusion GPS11, the outfit that established its “reputation” after it was hired by Democrats in 2012 to conduct opposition research on Mitt Romney12. In September of 2015 Fusion was reportedly hired by a wealthy Republican donor opposed to then-primary candidate Donald Trump10 to conduct opposition research, standard fare between competing high-profile primary and general election candidates.

But in May of 2016, once Trump was the presumed Republican nominee, Hillary Clinton’s comrades took over the account and issued different orders. They paid Simpson at least $160,000 to commission a former British MI6 “black bag” operative, Christopher Steele, to compile the now-infamously fake “Trump/Putin dossier13.”

That totally debunked 35-page report14 became the centerpiece of the Demo/MSM propaganda machine15’s collusion conspiracy theory — the compulsive claim that Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin conspired to steal the election from Clinton.

Sidebar: As for her part in her own defeat, Clinton is putting the final spin on a book about the 2016 election, “What Happened16.” She is sure to blame Trump/Putin collusion and everything else except for the most obvious explanation of why she lost — Hillary Clinton17. (Of course, Clinton and Obama set the standard for Russian collusion18.)

As I noted in my analysis of the Times/Post collusion19 to propagate the Trump/Putin narrative, “A week before Trump’s inaugural, former FBI Director James Comey6 added a powerful propaganda weapon to the MSM’s arsenal in its relentless effort to undermine Trump’s agenda20.”

He and then-CIA Director John Brennan gave Obama a copy of the debunked Trump/Russia dossier. The FBI was “investigating” that fake dossier, which was then leaked to the press — most likely by Comey, who in May acknowledged that he had leaked other memos to the press21 in hopes that a special counsel22 would be appointed to investigate Trump. (Comey’s treachery paid off when his old friend23, former FBI Director Robert Mueller, was appointed as special counsel.)

Actually, the Leftmedia had dismissed the dossier as fraud months before it became “news.” According to Christopher Steele’s lawyers24, in September 2016, Steele was instructed by Fusion’s Glen Simpson to peddle the dossier in private briefings to The New York Times, The Washington Post, Yahoo! News, The New Yorker and CNN. But it was so ludicrous that none of them would report on it until — Comey’s leak about the “investigation” gave them the green light.

Since then, the Trump/Putin conspiracy media saturation has been an effective, however baseless, political diversion and obfuscation tactic to deflect from the true Democrat/Putin collusion to destabilize Trump’s agenda and, by extension, that of the Republican Congress. And it’s working!

At least up to now…

This is where the fictional Trump/Putin collusion noose begins to unwind at a pace that even the Democrats can’t ignore, because it is likely to end up tightening around their own necks.

On 21 July, the Republican chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Charles Grassley (R-IA), and the ranking Democrat, Diane Feinstein (D-CA), issued a subpoena for Glenn Simpson to testify, after he had previously declined their invitation to voluntary do so, stating he had “long held vacation plans.”

The subpoena prompted a response from Simpson’s lawyer, Joshua Levy, that Simpson would appear and answer Senate investigators’ questions in a closed-door session.

By the way, Levy is the former congressional counsel to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). This is probably as coincidental as the fact that, at the same time the Democrats began funding Fusion’s fraudulent claims about Trump, it turns out that Natalia Veselnitskaya, the Russian lawyer involved in the “controversial” meeting with Donald Trump Jr.25, was also associated with Simpson and Fusion26.

Again, probably just coincidence…

While the Judiciary Committee would like information on who funded the phony Fusion dossier on Trump, its initial charges against Simpson are that he violated the Foreign Agents Registration Act for failing to register as one of Putin’s paid agents. According to Sen. Grassley, “It is vital for the Committee to fully understand Fusion’s failure to register under FARA and its role in the creating and spreading of the dossier.”

Turns out that, according to the collateral Senate testimony of Bill Browder, at the time Fusion was compiling the fake dossier info on Trump for the Democrats, it was also lobbying on behalf of Putin to overturn the 2012 Magnitsky Act, which sanctioned Putin’s oligarchs for human rights violations. According to Browder, he knows all about “Fusion GPS and Glenn Simpson’s role working on behalf of the Russian government to overturn the Magnitsky Act.”

Copy that?

This has all the political hallmarks of a quid pro quo — Putin (by way of Simpson and Steele) generated a counterfeit report on Trump to help Hillary Clinton win the election, in return for the favor of her softening the Magnitsky Act’s sanctions once president. Recall it was assumed by all the political illuminati that Clinton would absolutely be the 2016 victor. Unfortunately for Putin, Trump was elected, and he piled on additional Russian sanctions27 this week.

Investigative journalist Kim Strassel, in her Wall Street Journal analysis, “Who Paid for the ‘Trump Dossier’?28,” posits this: “What if, all this time, Washington and the media have had the Russia collusion story backward? What if it wasn’t the Trump campaign playing footsie with the Vladimir Putin regime, but Democrats? The more we learn about Fusion, the more this seems a possibility.”

According to Strassel, “We know that at the exact time Fusion was working with the Russians, the firm also hired — wait for it — Christopher Steele to dig up dirt on Mr. Trump. Steele compiled his material, according to his [Trump dossier] memos, based on allegations from unnamed Kremlin insiders and other Russians. Many of the claims sound eerily similar to the sort of ‘oppo’ [former Soviet counterintelligence officer Rinat] Akhmetshin peddled.” (Recall that Akhmetshin was also in that June 2016 meeting with Donald Trump Jr.)

So, Steele was fed information by Russian operatives under the direction Putin — a former KGB colonel well-trained in such conspiracies — which is to say he, Simpson and their Democrat backers colluded with Russia to fabricate the hit piece against Trump.

Copy that?

In her analysis, Strassel concludes, “If the Russian intention was to sow chaos in the American political system, few things could have been more effective than that dossier, which ramped up an FBI investigation and sparked congressional probes and a special counsel, deeply wounding the president. … If Special Counsel Robert Mueller, Democrats and the media really want answers about Russian meddling, this is a far deeper well than the so-far scant case against Mr. Trump. If they refuse to dive into the story, we’ll know that the truth about Russia and the election was never what they were after.”

Bottom line, the singular question any investigator should now be asking is: “Who funded the fake Fusion Trump/Putin dossier?”

Memo to The New York Times and The Washington Post: The Democrats will not be the only victims of Fusion’s false dossier…
